Review titled Very compassionate Doctor and Responsive Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Stefan - Posted on 04 November 2024
My mother was given an appointment a day after we submitted an e-consult. We saw a very kind and caring GP and she addressed all of our concerns. The practice has arranged for the required tests and referrals. Thank you Dr and Thorndike for your hard work and commitment.

Review titled Awful Experience

by Ehimy Guzman - Posted on 27 September 2024
I've had severe pain and I've been trying to get an appointment with this practice for a few weeks. Numerous phone calls and attempts but it just seems impossible. What does one have to do to get an appointment in this practice? Please enlighten me.

Dear Ehimy, we apologise you feel that it is impossible to obtain a GP appointment, if you are having difficulty completing the online form please contact the reception team and they would be able to assist you. The Modern General Access Model is recommended by NHS England and is designed to better allocate existing capacity to need, making full use of a multi-professional team across multiple services and helping GP’s and practice staff to optimise use of their time to where it is needed most. Key features of this model include structured information gathering including via online consultation tools and using one care navigation and workflow process across all channels to assess and prioritise needs safely and fairly and to effectively get patients to a suitable health professional or service in an appropriate time frame.

Review titled Amazing nurse
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nina - Posted on 06 August 2024
Brought my daughter in for her pre school boosters and the nurse was absolutely amazing. Really made my daughter feel at ease and spoke to her like an adult. She explained all the wasy through what was going to happen and when and also after how brave she was. She even had a party bag for my daughter to take home. The nurse was incredible. Thank you so much for making this worrying journey as a parent so easy.

Review titled Excellent Service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 August 2024
I was asked to have some bloods tested by the Nuclear Medicine team. I called the surgery, spoke to the receptionist and was offered a same day appointment. The care by the clinician was excellent, as she checked the background to the testing, discussed further testing and gained all the blood samples whilst talking to me throughout to keep me at ease. Her communication, professionalism and interaction with me was a brilliant example of how to do it. Thank you.

Review titled Impossible to get appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Claire Bonthrone - Posted on 24 May 2024
I have tried 3 times to get an appointment. Each time I have been told the Thorndike can’t help me and to try 111, a pharmacy or A&E instead. I have spoken to 111 who referred me to a pharmacy who then told me I needed a GP appt. Additionally, my physio has recommended that I request an ultrasound via my GP. Still they won’t see me. My health issue is neither an emergency nor due to an accident so I am reluctant to visit A&E as it would be inappropriate to do so and put more undue pressure on them. It’s alarming that I am unable to get my issue (which I am advised may be degenerative) addressed by this surgery.

Contacted 111 about a week ago as I did not want to ring thorndike because I know would not get a appointment for a lump on my head by my ear `111 told me to call thorndike and tell them they need to see me within 3 days when I finally got though to thorndike they told me to to fill a online form in and we will get back to you in 24 hours the form never got to them so I rang them and they said fill it in again so I did and again they did not get my online form so I rang again and the receptionist fill it in for me and I get a text 8 hours later saying they can’t see me because they have reached full capacity and they are unable to accommodate me and I need to ring 111 ,up to this point it’s been a week of messing around and I’ve still got that lump on my head .the place needs shutting down it disgusting

Review titled Genuinely Horrendous
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 April 2024
I've had the displeasure of having the thorndike as my GP for a number of years now, and it's honestly gone from bad to worse. Previously, they had a system in place for on-the-day appointments where you'd have to call at exactly 08:00am to be in with any chance of getting one - and if you happen to already be working by 08:00am? Then you can wait six to eight weeks for a scheduled appointment. Which was already bad, but it's since become much worse. Now, you can't even get through to them, so when you have a very simple problem to treat, but that requires a GP to administer, you fill out a form which goes to triage so they can tell you they have "reached full capacity" and are "unable to accommodate your request" for a GP appointment. So you go through 111, who direct you to a pharmacist, who makes a specific request with the thorndike to see you. And naturally, that gets completely ignored. And when you call them the next day to get seen, you get told it's going to triage again. And then you get a text telling you that you can't be seen again, and to go to A&E for something that is neither an accident nor an emergency. Absolute lunacy. What's worse, sadly, is if you're waiting for a Shared Care Agreement (like a long term prescription) of any kind; I have a disability which can be treated with prescription medication, and the team I did titration with sent over a SCA request to the thorndike once titration ended. It took over six months (!!!) for somebody to even look at it, only for them to say "no", because there was one very slight concern and they wouldn't pick up the phone to resolve it. I'm still waiting to hear back on my SCA, and I've been waiting for more than a year at this point. And there's nothing any of the reception staff seem to be able to do about any of it - they're all rather friendly, especially for being on the receiving end of what must be so many unhappy phone calls; but the people making the decisions at thorndike? Horrifically desensitised to the needs of their patients, and flagrantly unethical in how they handle the people that should be in their care.

Review titled Great Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Debbie W - Posted on 14 March 2024
I have always been treated well at Thorndike Surgery. The team always do their best to accommodate a request. My diabetic nurse is very good. I have been a type 2 diabetic for approximately 28 years. I had my first appointment with her about a month ago. She spent time with me and explained things to me that I had never been made aware of. She took me back to basics. It’s very easy to become complacent when you have a long term health condition. With her help and advice I am already noticing an improvement on my blood sugar readings.

Review titled bad service via prescriptions
Rated 1 star out of 5
by James Blackender - Posted on 18 January 2024
many more excuses as to why my prescription is late again, the request for my medication was put in on the 11th of January it is now the 18th of January, apparently this time its the doctors fault, I was told it is still with the doctor, although when I chased this up two days prior I was told it would be done tomorrow, that was 4 days ago. I asked if I could speak to the surgery manager to see if they can chase it up and was told I would need to write a letter to the surgery. I suffer more stress form the delays in my medication and the excuses than I do from my illnesses. I am on long term antibiotics due to continued lung infections and the delays in receiving my medication is detrimental to my health, there is supposed to be no breaks in the use of my antibiotics .I have made a appointment with the doctor via the form that is sent out to all patients that require a appointment ( more delays)t. I want to request that I am supplied with a month in advance of all my medication to make up for the short- full by the staff. My medication will be very late this time as it will take the chemist 3 days to supply,. what are we supposed to do lay down and die. if like myself you are on long term medication and would like to remain Sane I would suggest you try a different surgery, although once I manage to actually see a doctor I am totally satisfied. God Bless. James Blackender

Review titled Run around

I have been trying to book an appointment for my daughters 12 month injection since December, keep getting told 3 week wait, finally got one 2 n half weeks along with my appointment. Now get a message on the day saying mine has been cancelled as it has to be 12 weeks from my last appointment haha 2022 was my last appointment and now being told that because it was over 1 year ago I have to book with a gp get prescription and then book with a nurse, all could have been done within my time frame before my original appointment so now have to fill out a for could have an appointment 2-3weeks after the triage confirm my form and then same amount of time to then see a nurse for my appointment. Absolutely disgusting and I am a new patient too, going to re-register with old gp even though it's in se London but I didn't have all of this nonsense and was able to get an appointment within a reasonable timeframe
