Review titled Inclusive practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michelle Taylor - Posted on 20 February 2025
The way the practice is adapting to new technologies and communication methods to encourage all to take advantage of this great service is inspiring. As someone who works long hours and had challenges getting appointments, the queuing service did not work for me, the new interactions allow me to see a clinician or be triaged and get access to medical services. This is underpinned by friendly, approachable and engaging medical team. I feel that I am seen and listened to as an individual.

Review titled Terrible unrealistic appointment system
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 August 2024
The practice has change their appointment system. You cannot call you have to request an appointment digitally by patches, wait for a Dr to assess it and then wait for them to ring you back to offer you an appointment. What about elderly people or those who cannot navigate a digital system, what about people in poverty who do know have access to technology. What about people with mental health issues or people who suddenly become ill - ie those groups of people more likely to need to see a GP! After getting the brush off by the receptionist on Thursday and told to use the Patches system, then told to try 111 (which we did). We ended up in A & E all because it was too hard to access an appointment with this GP surgery!

Hi, did you mean to post this for the Thornton practice in Bradford? We won’t use the PATCHS system, although we do use a triage system for booking GP appointments. With our system, anyone who cannot submit a request online can ring us and our reception team will submit it on their behalf.

Review titled Double bruised my arm
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 June 2024
Went for a blood test and she put the needle in my arm and drew blood but then pulled it out which stopped the blood flow and she jabbed it in a couple of more times, and then finally had to jab the other arm. Really bad job and weird actually.

Dear Patient, this was discussed with our phlebotomy team and they do not recall the exact case, but they say that blood flow can stop for various reasons. We are sorry for the inconvenience it caused you.

Review titled Poor Experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5

My first ever appointment at this practice was not a good experience. When i called to make the appointment, I explained to the call handler that i had a few issues to discuss. I had assumed the appointment had been booked accordingly- to allow enough time to discuss the issues i had. The GP was running slightly late. When I arrived i felt like the GP was not particularly warm, had not reviewed my notes and was asking me about what kind of pills i was taking 15 years ago. The GP said they could not help me for one of the issues I had come for. On the other issue they said that before i can be referred to a specialist to discuss my symptoms and a new treatment plan, i have to be rediagnosed for my condition, that I have had for 20 years and is an incurable disease. When i raised a final issue i was told that i should have made a double appointment. I tried to explain i had explained to the call handler when I made my appointment I had multiple issues to discuss. However the GP did not want to listen to me, and dismissed me and said that they "had 2 patients waiting in the waiting room because of you". I was then ushered out saying i had to make another appointment to discuss further issues and was dismissed with a curt "have a nice day". After waiting a month for the appointment I was left with questions unanswered and faced with the prospect of waiting another month to make another appointment. All in all a terrible experience which has left me feeling like i should move to a different practice altogether.

Dear Patient, having raised this with the GPs at the time, one GP remembered what happened. The GP said you had 3 issues to discuss but it had only been booked as a single appointment. We listened to the call recordings and only 2 issues were mentioned to the receptionist. It seems the GP managed to deal with 2 issues in the allocated time (10 minutes) but asked you to re-book for the 3rd issue. We are sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
