Rated 5 stars out of 5

As a type 2 diabetic I cannot commend Thorpe Bay Surgery enough. The 6 monthly reviews, service, treatment, information, explanations and advice I get about my test results is outstanding.

Review titled Awful practice and awful receptionists
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 May 2023
To start, a couple months ago I put in my forms to be registered here… I call to make an appointment with the doctor to be to told that I’m not registered with them but yet my husband and children are and our forms all went in together.. I asked what happened to my forms and was told they can’t answer that but also couldn’t answer how the rest of my family was registered but not myself. The receptionist was extremely rude, and even threatened to hang up on me and proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have a duty of care to help me. Absolutely horrible.

Review titled Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5
by A disappointed family - Posted on 30 March 2023
Unsupportive Extremely slow Defensive and often abrupt receptionists Very unreliable when it comes to returning calls Advertise they do home visits for terminally ill and housebound patients - that is not true No proactive support for patient with terminal diagnosis Medical Certificate of Cause of Death had to be chased and chased and in the end, when no calls were returned we had to physically stand in their waiting room to almost force them to complete it. When speaking to receptionist during the above visit the receptionists personal mobile phone rang and she looked at it mid conversation with the deceased family - the height of bad manners The GP spoke to me just 2 hours before my mum passed to discuss my disappointment at their overall support of my mum over her last few months of life and even when I then had to call them to notify them of her passing, he must have recalled our conversation only 2 hours previous, he still didn’t bother to call. 2 days after my mums passing my dad had an appointment with their nurse and they hadn’t even bothered to update his notes that his wife had died and the nurse asked ‘how’s your wife’ ? How insensitive ! Overall our whole family is extremely disappointed with the majority of the Tyrone Road team.

Review titled Awful Service
Rated 1 star out of 5

The most awful receptionists I have ever encountered. Given they are front of house for the Surgery, they are clueless and have the most horrific manners, not to mention the rudeness and "no can do" attitude. I have been at the surgery for few years and it has progressively got worse, i am seriously considering moving practice and would not recommend this surgery to anyone. Such a shame that a few receptionist can give such a terrible impression for the doctors they represent!

Review titled Amazing work, nice to be able to see doctors face to face.

Super staff. The prompt and kind care I received helped me process my new diagnosis. They help was quick and I got to see a doctor quickly. Couldn't thank them enough. We the NHS services being so stretched by the government I didnt think I would get such a good and quick service. Credit to the management and doctors. thank you.

Review titled Unhelpful receptionist
Rated 1 star out of 5

Put in request for prescription to be told it would take 3 days so in total 5 days over weekend. Asked if it would be quicker to book appt with doctor and told no. Asked if there was any other way and told I should have requested it sooner to which I replied I did not know I was gong to be ill sooner ! This conversation all delivered in the manner that I was being a nuisance and she had better things to do. My husband had a similar experience with the same receptionist a few weeks ago so not just me. I know the NHS is busy and I would not be troubling it if I did not need to but there is simply no excuse for rudeness.

Review titled Keep on walking past

Absolute awful GP Surgery. First you need to deal with the receptionists. Good luck with that. I hate it when people like to me which they constantly do. They never do what you ask and always have an excuse. As for the practice manager, I must have left dozen of messages asking for her to call me and sent about 3 emails. Still waiting. Utterly rude person. The doctors are just as bad. On numerous occasions they have given me completely wrong information and made me wait 3 months and even then if I had not called back, I would still be waiting. If you are referred somewhere, the say on the referall letter, wait until this date. Then on that date, I call the referral place and I am told they got back to the surgery either the same day or day after receiving request saying no availability. Does the surgery let me know! do they heck. I wait for the date before finding out. I have now moved surgeries after 22 years as i personally feel that I deserve to be treated better than that and not lied to by the receptionists.

Review titled Outstanding service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by J Smith - Posted on 08 December 2022
The overall care and support from my GP at this practice has been exceptional. Following an appointment made at 10.45am my doctor arranged for me to be seen, as an urgent case, at the local hospital following which I was admitted. I then received a few calls from my doctor during my hospital stay as they wanted to check I was doing OK and they offered me any additional support I needed. The kindness, professionalism, support and overall service I’ve received have been outstanding and I’d recommend them to anyone.
