Appointments are never available, phoned for appointment today for my daughter, was asked to give details of problem by the receptionist who then put me on hold, came back and told me if I’m concerned take her to walk in centre in Clacton. No appointments at surgery until Middle July.

Dear Anonymous, once our daily capacity has been reached which is often quite early due to heavy demand we advise patients to use the UTC, Pharmacy First, 111 or A&E, whichever is most appropriate if the caller feels the matter cannot wait. Unfortunately we do not have the resources to be able to offer more appointments.

  2. Review titled Fab job!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I want to thank the professional practitioner who worked tirelessly with me to get my blood pressure down. It took loads of time and patience, this gave me confidence and taught me much needed patience too! All the staff here do their best in remarkably difficult circumstances, so thank you all!

  3. Review titled Reception staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 February 2023

I know reception staff have always faced criticism. Having worked in over 7 surgeries across North-East Essex and witnessed other surgeries support staff - the Thorpe Surgery reception staff are shockingly rude and bar one lady, who is extremely helpful, the others are unhelpful. Reminiscent of “Little Britain”. Real shame that a well loved GP Practice has employed support staff that provide no support.

Dear Anonymous, thank you for your comments, however without knowing when you attended or who helped you on the day it's very difficult for us to remedy this situation. I would be very happy to investigate in confidence if you could provide me with some more information, Kind regards Karen Austen

  4. Review titled Very helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ada - Posted on 28 January 2023

I’m post op having been discharged by the hospital without adequate pain relief. I had a difficult night with a lot of pain and the next day tried to get in touch with the ward (as it should be their problem to sort not the GP’s!!), but no luck. In desperation I called my surgery to see if I could speak to a clinician to ask for help. But there were no appointments left and the receptionist suggested I sent an email with my discharge summary and they would see what could be done - but no promises! I really wasn’t holding out much hope and was gearing up for another night of pain. But to my relief and delight I had a call back from a lovely nurse practitioner shortly after 10am- I think they had squeezed me in!! She was so lovely and helpful, I swear the pain already felt easier just speaking to her. I am so grateful to them, I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the staff since I registered here several years ago. They always do their best to help their patients despite the huge pressures on the service. So I just want to shout out to all the staff at Thorpe surgery - that receptionist I spoke to earlier today, thanks for forwarding my urgent email request to the doctor. And to that nice nurse practitioner. You are lovely people. Thank you from a very grateful patient!

  6. Review titled Rude and Self-centred

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 May 2023

Suffering severe mental health problems after multiple close bereavements, I was appalled at the rudeness and self-importance displayed by one of the non-doctor practitioners. I left feeling so upset and anxious that I will never attend the surgery again unless absolutely imperative. I now get tremors and intense anxiety if I even think about calling them.
