Review titled Confidentiality
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Paul McKinley - Posted on 22 August 2024
As I sat in the waiting area I heard the receptionist at the front desk phone a patient. The conversation was clearly audible to everyone in the waiting area. She confirmed the patient’s name and then said that she was phoning to make the patient an appointment to come to see the GP to discuss her worsening COPD. I am concerned about patient confidentiality in this situation.

My son has serious mental health problems & due to issues with his old practice in getting face to face appointments he transferred to 3 swans last year. Since joining he has not seen a doctor nor had a medication review. Worse you can not get a routine doctors appointment anymore (apparently this requires ,quote "a mind set change") & even when phoning just after 8am you are told "dont thnk we have any appointments today". Big mistake moving to this surgery! How are they gettinmg away with this ?

Review titled Poor appointment arrangements
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Matthew Johnson - Posted on 21 February 2024
My 96 year old mother attended the surgery to make an appointment to see a Dr. She has had recurring malignant melanoma on her face and was worried about a new mark appearing. She wasn't allowed to make an appointment but was told to phone or book online. To illustrate just how idiotic this is.... As a child she remembers the glow in the sky when Crystal palace blazed, as a teenager she lived through the London blitz, she has seen five monarchs on the throne. She was over 70 when personal computers became a rare addition to people's homes. She is not senile or stupid but she is quite deaf and can only deal with perfunctory chats on the phone. She's blocked from seeing a Dr due to her age. As a further insult to her independence she has to ask my wife and I to make the appointment for her, which is difficult enough. There should be some flexibility it allowing old people who cannot use computers or the phone to simply make an appointment. It's not good enough!

Review titled Brilliant service

A positive post about doctors appointments and the NHS as we are always quick to complain about them. Big shout out to 3 Chequers Medical practice and NHS. Booked a triage appointment on line easily at 8a.m yesterday, ( thought it would be hard as they had been closed for 4 days) lovely doc phoned me at 10 a.m, got a face to face appointment at 12.30. Referred for X-ray . Had a phone call at 3pm to say I can have X-ray app 12.30 today. This was not an urgent appointment , just something that had been bothering me and I wanted sorting but had been putting off.

Review titled Terrible access to GPs and appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Stuart - Posted on 27 October 2023
Over the past couple of years I've dealt with this surgery more and more. Both my parents (late 70s) have found the appointments system impossible to navigate. There are complicated rules about when you can phone to get an appointment. The queuing system options seem designed to make you think 'perhaps I shouldn't bother them with this'. You usually need to be on hold for twenty minutes. At many points in the queue, the recording plays ambient background noise that sounds like someone's picked up the phone but they can't hear you (you end up saying 'Hello? Hello? Hello?'). When you finally get through to a receptionist it seems to be their job to obstruct your access to a GP. It's as if the surgery is operating a cynical Squid Game for pensioners where only the lucky ones will make it through the obstacles in time to get the health care they need.

Review titled genuine concerns
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Paul Daniel - Posted on 11 October 2023
I just wanted to raise an issue from my experience today. This is not a complaint as I know fully well what this government has done to our public services (having worked in both Health and Education for 40 years.) However, it is a genuine concern. Around 11.15, I tried calling the practice to book a phone appointment with a GP. I eventually got through at 11.40. I was told by the receptionist that all bookings for the morning were full so I would need to call back at 12 for an afternoon appointment. This I did on the dot at 12 - only to be told by the automated message that I was 31 in the queue. I eventually got through to the receptionist at 12.21 - only to be told that all appointments for the afternoon had gone. On both occasions, the receptionist was helpful and apologetic. However, is this good enough? I am needing to see a GP because of pain in my right arm. I have been experiencing this for weeks and it has now become debilitating. I am really concerned that our practice has become so stretched and under resourced. I will try again tomorrow morning but am genuinely worried that I won't be seen any time soon. Yours faithfully, Paul Daniel.

Review titled Do not recommend
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Stephen Gregory - Posted on 19 April 2023
I would not recommend this practice. Patients cannot get through the receptionists. I was asked to call a specific doctor, who is dealing with my case, but whenever I tried to call, receptionists said I could not speak to the doctor who had asked me to call. Very frustrating, no wonder I have very high blood pressure!
