  1. Review titled Dysfunctional

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 June 2024

I find this practice utterly dysfunctional. They make it incredibly hard to look after your health. It’s very difficult to see a medical practitioner, especially a GP. When you do get an appointment, this is usually on the phone, with a pharmacist who may only be part way through their training and so with a very limited ability to help. Getting through on the phone is extremely difficult, and when you do get through, you are usually advised to do an e-consult, just to get rid of you. That e-consult may or may not even be followed through. When the reception staff make mistakes, they are unconcerned and will simply tell you to start the whole process of trying to get an appointment all over again. I’m not sure of the purpose of the weekend opening hours, when there seems to be a minimal service available. I was not even allowed to drop off a medical letter on a Saturday. Occasionally, someone will be helpful and I feel sorry for the few individuals who work there who are genuinely trying to help. But most of the time, the practice makes it very hard work to get medical treatment, involving a great deal of time in a phone queue (they may have call back for one line, but not for the others), or a tense wait for a phone call that can come at any point over the course of a ten hours. Having had a lot of medical problems over the last year, there is no doubt that having to deal with this awful practice has made it harder, and has had a negative impact on my mental health. I think the staff need to remember why they are there and who they are working for.

As a new patient, I don't it is proper after 3 visits to the clinc to be sent back by the receptionist to go and book appointments on telephone. What if I have an emergency. What I don't have phone. There is little or no mobile phone signal in my area. I have to get out of the area to make calls. Then it absolutely painstaking to stay awake in order to make this calls and get the appointment which I'm thankful to the Doctor who called me himself

  6. Review titled Telephone consult

    by hawkzb74 - Posted on 19 January 2024

Telephone consult regarding blood pressure. I visited my GP approximately two months ago, had my blood pressure checked. I was prescribed some medication for this. I was also concerned the medication was not having an effect as my BP still seemed to high, but I wasn’t able to raise this. I submitted BP readings as I needed to have prescription provided if I was to continue on the same medication. It became apparent that my notes had not been read prior to calling me, as I was told to continue taking the prescribed medication. I had the impression they just wanted to end the call. I had to hurriedly explain I was almost out of medication and would need to have another prescription. I was told to attend reception and request a prescription. I asked if them if they could supply the prescription. It was at this point it was obvious they had not read my notes, when I was asked how do I normally get the repeat prescription? This was the first time I had needed a repeat prescription. It was a hurried consultation and it felt as if they just wanted to end the call as quickly as possible.

The paramedic nurse who I saw at Thurrock health centre checked over my daughter thoroughly and was so attentive to my children by far one of the best people I have ever seen at the gp practice

GP wasn't interested in my concerns about child's condition. Didn't know what it was and refused to refer for scans or specialist. This means we will need to go private and pay money. Unbelievable

The professional and friendly attitude of the phone answering staff member. Although I was stressed and anxious, managed to calm me with an even tone and empathetic response to my ever growing disbelief of the current wait for a phone appt with the doctor for abnormal blood test results.
