Review titled Great and friendly practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 November 2024
I had an appointment with a practice nurse today for a follow up. The receptionist booked me in who was lovely ...smilling and welcoming, the nurse saw me within few minutes of me attending . The appointment was informative as I was unsure how to use my inhalers and the nurse took her time and explained throughly on how I can use it properly and I felt confident enough to use it after my appointment. Overall a very good practice

Review titled Shocking attitude from the practice reception
Rated 1 star out of 5

Attended an appointment which a GP had told me to book at a prior appointment. I wasn't given the name of who I was seeing and if I was I certainly didn't make a note of this as I want told I would need this information to attend the appointment. I received a reminder regarding the appointment via text and again the there was no named person. I went to check in before my appointment and was met with hostility as I didn't know the person who I was seeing. The receptionist aggressively shrugged her shoulders and made it clear that she wasn't going to help me. I decided to leave as I didn't know what else to do. I did tell her I was sure it was today as I had a text reminder. I left the practice area and went to call a friend to collect me. The receptionist then appeared bring her attitude with her that I hadn't given her chance and did I want the appointment? I went ahead with the appointment. The person in the appointment was professional. The attitude of the receptionist was disgraceful.

Review titled Terrible Culture . Locums can be the most helpful
Rated 1 star out of 5

The GP partners make no attempt to follow up on discharge letters from the local hospital. My history is simply made up in hospital referrals. Wild inaccuracies written in referrals to the hospital feel like it's being made up and also including incorrect factual information. The culture is careless and slapdash. Some of the GP partners appear to have an attitude problem. They will ignore reasonable appropriate questions for days. Feels unsafe and the attitude can be very off. They simply want to argue over everything instead of helping . Chaotic and hostile culture. Always hoping for a locum appointment over the actual go partners who generally want to help and will make accurate records at least. Avoid the practice doctors if you can and hope for a remote locum not stuck in the bad culture of this terrible practice. They are bothered at all about mistakes in notes. Bad leadership . Office and administration staff some can be shockingly rude occasionally helpful but not often.

Review titled Sadly lacking care
Rated 1 star out of 5

This practice and it’s GP’s used to be amazing, but since and during covid it has gradually gone down hill and, in my opinion, has hit rock bottom. Saying that, I have usually found receptionists and nurses are excellent and they ensure you feel valued and safe as a patient, unfortunately not so the GP’s (but the Locum GP’s are on the whole, helpful, caring and polite). When you ring for an appointment there is a ‘new system’ which apparently seems based on GP needs and definitely not the patients needs. During the call a patient is ‘triaged’ via a receptionist, not medically trained, simply obeying what an anonymous GP tells her to say to you and this GP is speaking with other call handlers at the same time! What if words get lost in translation (between patient - telephonist - GP)? As a patient I now feel I am deterred to ring and request for medical help as, the last time I tried, I was given an appointment for a week later and when I was seen by a GP I required medication. Unfortunately and very sadly, it is now an intimidating and daunting prospect to speak or see a GP, who don’t appear to listen to you and lack the care and compassion that once made the practice great. Doctors and partners now seem very impatient to say the least and when a patient is ill the last thing they want to feel is that they are simply ‘an inconvenience’.

Review titled Fantastic service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ernest - Posted on 12 July 2023
In the light of the fact Locala will be closing in Todmorden, I feel I must say I have had nothing but prompt, courteous and a fantastic service from this practice. I feel totally safe in their hands and being 93 I know they will act accordingly should I require any help. Todmorden badly needs a GP practice who are there for their patients

ring up every morning for a week = no appointments, we booked a forwards appointment in 6 weeks = 4 day prior to appointment = its cancelled = ask for a further appointment to be told = no forward appointments = will have to ring up every morning and see = talk about a full circle = what a waste of time and space

Review titled Fantastic at times
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Amy - Posted on 13 March 2023
I'm leaving this review specifically for the care my twin babies have received. Not myself as an adult patient as it can be hard to get an appointment. However, this has never been the case when I've called for my children. They've always managed to fit them in and the Doctor was magnificent. He was so informative, reassuring and helpful. He actually explained things and sent me additional information. Feeling very grateful for such a wonderful GP for my babies.

Review titled Extremely helpful and quick turnaround
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I needed to speak to someone so used the engage consult service on recommendation from the receptionist who offered to walk me through it, I manged without but appreciated the offer. The staff and doctor were extremely quick with getting my issue resolved and I can't fault how understanding they were of my situation. I also had an appointment with a nurse for heart monitoring at the end of the last year and she was very kind, reasurring and helped me get to the bottom of the situation and explained what would happen every step of the way, my partner even remarked on how good she was with me. The staff are a real credit to the service and I appreciate having them there when I need it the most. My little boy is also registered with Tod GP and he loves the doctor he has seen there, a real bonus when he is unwell as it makes the situation a little less stressful. Thank you all!
