  1. Review titled Dreadful - avoid and go elsewhere

Rated 1 star out of 5

There's a determination by someone who hates local people to run this once excellent practice into the ground. Impossible to either speak to anyone (the phone just rings for hours) or to email out of certain hours. Responses are sent by text. Sometimes these are things which clearly require discussion. Utterly depressing to have to keep going to this place.

  2. Review titled Great doc

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I managed to see my doctor within 2 weeks of logging my issue and had no problems. When I call the doctors I don’t have to wait too long before the call is answered and usually my questions are answered.

  3. Review titled Was a great practice - now avoid

Rated 1 star out of 5

Dreadful experience trying to get an appointment for my 88 year old mother who has terrible disabling hip pain. Fobbed off with 'go to A&E' and will have waited 2 months for a GP to see her. This used to be a great practice; now awful. I feel sorry for anyone working there. I'm not sure who they're running it for - certainly not the patients.

  4. Review titled Trying to make an appointment

    by wew152 - Posted on 15 May 2023

Trying to make an appointment for my Mum who is 88 and has sudden hip pain which means she's gone from being active to using a walker. Nobody will see her in person. They recommended A&E which we refused. We had an x-ray and of course nothing is broken, but now requesting a face-to-face examination from the GP and been given an appointment in a month. That is 2 months from the initial contact. Absolutely disgraceful, in my view. This practice used to be good, and I think it not longer is. Feels like it's been utterly ruined.

  5. Review titled Appointment System appalling

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have been trying to get an appointment to see or speak to a GP for 3 x weeks, due to severe back / muscle spasm issues. I eventually got a telephone appointment , only to be informed, by text, 1 minute after my appointment was due, that my mobile was " unreachable" and to make another appointment. I had already informed the receptionist, previously, that I work in hospital theatres where the signal is sketchy. I only want a referral letter, as I have spoken to a Consultant Neuro Spinal surgeon who I work alongside with in theatres, who recommends a scan. He has had to write me a private prescription for pain relief, due to me not being able to get an appointment with my own GP !. I have private insurance through a work scheme , but have to speak to a GP , over the phone, to be assessed about a back issue before a referral to a Consultant who has already seen me at work ?,,, makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

  6. Review titled Gatekeeping Appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have recently contacted this surgery due to a back injury, possibly a herniated disc. The surgery goes through a form based triage process before allowing you to see anybody in person. My symptoms were severe, unable to walk comfortably, pain whilst sitting and general restricted movement. I was requesting stronger pain relief but was rejected by traige and told to wait three weeks for a routine appointment. On challenging this, I was still rejected although I had not been seen by anyone in person and I was not checked for more serious issues. I was told there was no way I could see a doctor and the receptionist told me to go to A&E - despite this not being an accident or emergency. Luckily I am in a position where I can access other resources, I could drive myself across the city to the three different locations I was directed to and was able to access a GP via A&E at Northern General hospital. I have been prescribed painkillers (as expected) but told I should have been seen by the surgery and they have made a mistake. The gatekeeping of appointments needs to stop, or at the very least be overhauled to take into account individual situations with the ability to apply logical thinking. The definition of a routine appointment doesn't fit my situation, or many others. They turned a ten minute appointment into a seven hour round trip and caused me further pain and discomfort. I do not believe that there is no way of overturning the decision of a clinical assistant (not a GP) and their decision to double down on this even after I called back with advice from Hallamshire hospital that I needed a GP beggars belief. For those who are not fortunate enough to be able to travel to seek help from other avenues or who may not know that this is possible, this situation would be horrendous. They would be left in pain with nowhere to turn - and quite frankly it's disgusting. Please reivew your policies before you cause irreversible damage to someone's health.
