  1. Review titled Breathe of fresh air

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 October 2024

We have recently moved to Tower Hill practice from another surgery in the area . We wish we had moved sooner. We are able to get appointments for us and our kids when we need them, their communication portals are up to date and responsive, the clinicians and doctors we have seen have been nothing but caring and more than competent, and when referrals were needed these were done without hesitation. This is what the benchmark should be across all practices, I hope this level of care continues and the surgery keep investing in their staff. Our recent experience where my son needed an appointment and he was seen on the same day and by the evening we have had treatment and a referral, Thank you

  2. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nicole - Posted on 23 October 2024

Today I had a ultra sound scan at Tower Hill practise and the experience I had was amazing, the two ladies were professional, but friendly so kind and understanding and made me feel at ease through the whole process. They both worked well together and made what can be an uncomfortable experience very comfortable and reassuring. Thank you

  3. Review titled Great Practise Nurse

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by leslie wootton - Posted on 08 October 2024

Today i saw Dave the practice nurse for my review visit, i find him very good and he has helped me in trying to sort out my issue with complete interest and dedication. He takes time to listen and you can tell he is genuinely interested.I would recommend any patient to see him, at least he is getting positive results where others didn't. Thank you Dave.

  4. Review titled Horrible, untrained receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gabor Hikadi - Posted on 23 September 2024

I have phoned this surgery on 23/09/2024 the so called receptionist was very rude. I have asked her to email me the 3 registration details to connect the NHS app with the GP surgery she had declined. My previous GP and any other GP practice in the UK happy to do this. She asked me to attend the practice instead. She then said she has never seen this before. Though it is common for NHS app to ask for these details. She had asked her supervisor who also had no idea. Then filled out an online registration form though you can do that online so it was stupid to advise to attend. You are a disgrace.

Dear Mr Hikadi, thank you for your feedback. Although I appreciate your frustration, I have listened to the telephone call and confirm that our staff were correct in the advice that was given to you. For confidentiality reasons, we are unable to email you the information you requested and we do require patient identification before access can be granted to your online records. If you wish to speak to me regarding this, please call the surgery. Regards Debbie Wykes, Patient Experience Manager

  6. Review titled Appointments at reception and getting to see someone

    by Mr W - Posted on 03 September 2024

I hope management at Tower Hill actually reads this as i'm concerned there are serious issues at the practice. Your staff will know who i am and can confirm the following is factually correct (visited 30/08/2024 -17.30). I arrived at your reception to see somebody or at least get an appointment for the next day . I had an infection and explained this (in more detail) to the receptionist ( which i shouldn't need to do ) . I was told i need to book online or phone in the morning . I said , i am here now so i need you to get someone to see me or make me an appointment now.... " We can't do that , you have to do it online or by phone" . I asked if i did that how long would it be before i got an appointment "48 hours" . So i would not have been seen until the next week . I then pointed out they have a large banner explaining the dangers of sepsis and to seek advice and that i had gone there because as previously said i had an infection that was clearly getting worse - what could happen if i don't get seen until next week ? She then actually asked me if i had seen anybody ? No , but i think it would have been good to see doctor - which is why i was there ! Eventually after having to debate with her she got the nurse to see me . The nurse immediately said i needed antibiotics and came back with a doctor and straight away agreed i had a problem and was told to go straight to A&E , both the nurse and doctor were very good . The doctor at the hospital also said i was right to go in and yes i needed treatment so i wasn't at the practice wasting anybodies time ! So clearly i needed to see someone and the receptionist shouldn't have insisted i go away and make an appointment knowing it would be a few days before i would be seen - which after reading other reviews , i now find you struggle to make these online appointments due to the window and actual appointments available , and of course we all know how difficult it is to make an appointment by phone . When would i have been seen if i didn't insist to the receptionist ? Now i am not blaming the receptionist at all for this . It is obviously Tower Hill's guidelines she is working within . How can it be right that someone is there at reception and not actually make an appointment in person ? The consequences of this - not being seen for something that someone has specifically gone in for because they were concerned they could get a lot worse are unimaginable (actually they are ) . How often does this happen at the practice ? The way the practice operates is clearly not suitable the appointment system needs a complete overhall and yes if someone is at the practice they should be able to make an appointment there and then , because as said , putting people off has consequences , i am sure a doctor should be able to appreciate that . I do hope this is read by management and would like to think you sort these concerns.

Dear Mr W, thank you for your feedback. I do need more information to enable me to investigate this incident as 30.8.24 was Friday and we were not open on Saturday. I am also unable to identify the staff concerned without the correct details. Please do not hesitate to contact me on 0121 411 0487 to discuss further. If our systems are failing, we need to know so that we can improve. Thank you Debbie Wykes, Patient Experience Manager

  7. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 September 2024

The push to use only the online form is awful. I filled out a form, didn’t even get a courtesy phone call but got a prescription which did not resolve the issue and had someone taken the time to speak to me, they would have known that. Follow up with another form filled out and a phone call from a receptionist to say it had been reviewed and I required an appointment. I got to the appointment to find the GP had no clue why I was there as they don’t review the patients history. The whole process is beyond frustrating. If I could opt out of paying my NHS contributions I would go private in a heartbeat. I begrudge having not having the ability to opt out.

  8. Review titled Follow up to - Appointments at reception

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Mr W - Posted on 04 September 2024

With regards to my previous review , i did make one error , the date i actually visited was 28/08/2024 Wednesday . Which is why if i couldn't get an appointment until 48 hours later , i would not have seen anybody until the following week . If i had just walked away after being told i had to make an appointment online or phone the next day how much worse would my situation have become ? I had to really push the receptionist to get some action , how often does this happen ? I'm sure it isn't good for either your staff or patients . My concern here is not for myself . I went to hospital and they helped me , but for other people that are told to go away to make an appointment , i have spoken to neighbours since this and it appears this is now the standard practice.

  9. Review titled Triaged incorrectly

Rated 1 star out of 5

by radhwan hoque - Posted on 07 August 2024

I recently called regarding a bad rash on my body however when asked for a appointment with a GP or Nurse the GP had triaged my appointment to the pharmacy for advise. I ended up in A&E and required steroid doses and antibiotics and antivirals as it turned out to be more than a Rash. My issue lies within why i was now asked to send in pictures via accrux and why the decision was made to refer me to the local pharmacy when they will not prescribe any medication without a specialist writing a prescription. Also for the past few days I have been requesting for my NHS app to be linked to the GP surgery so I can access my health records and I have been given miss information from reception can you please advise.
