  1. Review titled Abysmal service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 March 2025

I am absolutely disgusted by the lack of care and professionalism at Tower Hill Medical Practice. Despite submitting an urgent online request for an appointment, it was completely ignored—no response, no follow-up, nothing. Today, my pregnant wife drove 40 minutes to the practice to have a foreign prescription converted to an English one—a simple 5-minute task that any competent GP could have handled on the spot. Instead of receiving the basic medical assistance she needed, she was dismissed and told to book an appointment for who knows when, despite the fact that this was an urgent matter that could impact the survival of her pregnancy. I have been paying into the NHS for 10 years and have never needed to use its services—until now. And the one time we ask for something as minor as a prescription conversion, we are treated like we don’t matter. This is an abysmal level of service and a clear failure of duty of care. If this is the way they handle urgent pregnancy-related concerns, I have zero confidence in their ability to provide proper care for anyone. Shame on Tower Hill Medical Practice for their lack of compassion, efficiency, and basic human decency. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who actually values their health and time.

Dear Patient, thank you for providing feedback. My name is Debbie Wykes and I am the Patient Experience Manager. I have spoken to colleagues to find out exactly what happened. Unfortunately, we are unable to interpret from a foreign prescription that has been obtained abroad. There is an obvious safety issue and, ideally, the medication should have been obtained from the source. If, however, this is not possible, any prescription could take a minimum of 48 hours to be processed and issued, regardless of language barriers. I understand that one staff member did help your wife considerably by obtaining one medication she required, and this did take some time to organise. I can only apologise that you are unhappy with our service as I can assure you we are here to help, within our framework and resources. If you have any issues you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards Debbie Wykes, Patient Experience Manager

  2. Review titled Exceptional Healthcare

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Parveen Nar - Posted on 04 March 2025

As a family, we have always been patients of Tower Hill Partnership Medical Practice. I have always received an exceptional service. One recent experience compelled me to write a review although there are many positives that I could highlight. I care for a vulnerable person and needed medical advice when the usual GP was absent from work. Received a call on the day requested from a GP who I have never spoken to before. She understood the issue, took time to listen and resolved all of the queries there and then whilst I was on the phone. She followed up on everything she had agreed to do and was very reassuring. Her bedside manner and empathy was second to none. Her interventions have proved to be very helpful and she resolved the issues reported. I will now request to speak to this GP on other matters if she is available. It was such a relief to be met with a competent, supportive GP. There are always frustrations with medical care and Tower Hill experiences problems as do all practices but from my perspective, I could not wish for better primary care. I use the electronic contact system with ease and get appointments when requested. The GP’s that I liaise with are professional, competent, reassuring and supportive. I can always speak to a manager if I have any concerns who deal with issues with compassion and care. The Patient Liaison Manager is just brilliant. She makes fair and measured assessments and then implements proportionate and reasonable solutions. It is my view that the practice is an asset to the local community and the lead GP and his team are doing an excellent job.

  3. Review titled Extremely hard to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Precious A - Posted on 08 January 2025

Had requested an appointment via the portal at 7am and I was sent a reply via message telling me to go to A&E instead. Had to wait 5+ hours at A&E just to be seen by a GP when I already have one. It’s getting more and more challenging to be seen by a GP in this practice.

Dear Precious, thank you for your review. All of our online forms are triaged by a clinician and, at times, depending on symptoms, history etc, it might be advisable for you to attend A & E as they do have greater resources than a GP surgery, i.e. x-ray facilities. I can only apologise that you were not happy with advice given and would urge you to put as much detail as possible into the online form. If you wish to discuss this, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards Debbie Wykes, Patient Experience Manager

  4. Review titled Concerning

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Darren Norton - Posted on 29 November 2024

I had a telephone call by Dr, my test results showed that my Thyroid levels were high. I had a hemithyroidectomy a couple of years ago and was told that I had to have blood tests done regularly to check my levels. My blood tests came back showing high. I have been suffering terribly with tiredness, palpitations, weakness and terrible depression, I have mentioned this to the GP and said there was no problems and to check my bloods again in 3 months. I have now just registered with a new practice as I have had nothing but bad experiences with this surgery and I feel I can't take it any longer.

  5. Review titled Breathe of fresh air

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 October 2024

We have recently moved to Tower Hill practice from another surgery in the area . We wish we had moved sooner. We are able to get appointments for us and our kids when we need them, their communication portals are up to date and responsive, the clinicians and doctors we have seen have been nothing but caring and more than competent, and when referrals were needed these were done without hesitation. This is what the benchmark should be across all practices, I hope this level of care continues and the surgery keep investing in their staff. Our recent experience where my son needed an appointment and he was seen on the same day and by the evening we have had treatment and a referral, Thank you

  6. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nicole - Posted on 23 October 2024

Today I had a ultra sound scan at Tower Hill practise and the experience I had was amazing, the two ladies were professional, but friendly so kind and understanding and made me feel at ease through the whole process. They both worked well together and made what can be an uncomfortable experience very comfortable and reassuring. Thank you

Today i saw Dave the practice nurse for my review visit, i find him very good and he has helped me in trying to sort out my issue with complete interest and dedication. He takes time to listen and you can tell he is genuinely interested.I would recommend any patient to see him, at least he is getting positive results where others didn't. Thank you Dave.

  8. Review titled Horrible, untrained receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gabor Hikadi - Posted on 23 September 2024

I have phoned this surgery on 23/09/2024 the so called receptionist was very rude. I have asked her to email me the 3 registration details to connect the NHS app with the GP surgery she had declined. My previous GP and any other GP practice in the UK happy to do this. She asked me to attend the practice instead. She then said she has never seen this before. Though it is common for NHS app to ask for these details. She had asked her supervisor who also had no idea. Then filled out an online registration form though you can do that online so it was stupid to advise to attend. You are a disgrace.

  10. Review titled Appointments at reception and getting to see someone

    by Mr W - Posted on 03 September 2024

I hope management at Tower Hill actually reads this as i'm concerned there are serious issues at the practice. Your staff will know who i am and can confirm the following is factually correct (visited 30/08/2024 -17.30). I arrived at your reception to see somebody or at least get an appointment for the next day . I had an infection and explained this (in more detail) to the receptionist ( which i shouldn't need to do ) . I was told i need to book online or phone in the morning . I said , i am here now so i need you to get someone to see me or make me an appointment now.... " We can't do that , you have to do it online or by phone" . I asked if i did that how long would it be before i got an appointment "48 hours" . So i would not have been seen until the next week . I then pointed out they have a large banner explaining the dangers of sepsis and to seek advice and that i had gone there because as previously said i had an infection that was clearly getting worse - what could happen if i don't get seen until next week ? She then actually asked me if i had seen anybody ? No , but i think it would have been good to see doctor - which is why i was there ! Eventually after having to debate with her she got the nurse to see me . The nurse immediately said i needed antibiotics and came back with a doctor and straight away agreed i had a problem and was told to go straight to A&E , both the nurse and doctor were very good . The doctor at the hospital also said i was right to go in and yes i needed treatment so i wasn't at the practice wasting anybodies time ! So clearly i needed to see someone and the receptionist shouldn't have insisted i go away and make an appointment knowing it would be a few days before i would be seen - which after reading other reviews , i now find you struggle to make these online appointments due to the window and actual appointments available , and of course we all know how difficult it is to make an appointment by phone . When would i have been seen if i didn't insist to the receptionist ? Now i am not blaming the receptionist at all for this . It is obviously Tower Hill's guidelines she is working within . How can it be right that someone is there at reception and not actually make an appointment in person ? The consequences of this - not being seen for something that someone has specifically gone in for because they were concerned they could get a lot worse are unimaginable (actually they are ) . How often does this happen at the practice ? The way the practice operates is clearly not suitable the appointment system needs a complete overhall and yes if someone is at the practice they should be able to make an appointment there and then , because as said , putting people off has consequences , i am sure a doctor should be able to appreciate that . I do hope this is read by management and would like to think you sort these concerns.
