  1. Review titled Twin Oaks surgery, Bransgore - Upsetting conduct

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have today, 26th March, already completed an appointment feedback form on my phone and spoken briefly about an appointment to the Twin Oaks receptionist. However, I would like to expand on my concern. I recently attended the Twin Oaks surgery for a routine blood test. Whilst there, I requested an electrocardiograph as I had recently been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation prior to a knee replacement operation at the Spire in Southampton. This diagnosis came as a considerable surprise, as I have always felt fit and kept active with no adverse indications. At Twin Oaks I was seen by a male doctor/nurse who was unknown to me. I explained my reason for requesting a follow-up test and mentioned my active lifestyle. His manner was distinctly abrupt. He performed the ECG test and finally declared, without any explanation, that my heart was “out of control” and that I should “stop cycling”. His statements surprised me to the extent that I did not think to ask for clarification. Nor was any offered. This has left me with considerably greater anxiety than before my visit to the surgery, a condition which, in itself, could be undesirable for an atrial fibrillation sufferer. Furthermore, I had been advised by the cardiologist at the Spire hospital to continue with active exercise. Advice that I have gleaned from National Health Service and British Heart Federation websites would support this advice. I am, therefore, left unsure and distressed as to my condition and confused as to who is providing the correct guidance. If possible, could someone please clarify the situation, advise as to my state of health and recommend whether I should be seeking further specialist consultation or simply carry on with a healthy and active lifestyle, taking the medication as prescribed. One might feel reluctant to attend this surgery in the future for fear of a similar encounter. Thank you for your time.
