  1. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elaine Shaw - Posted on 04 April 2024

A really helpful appointment with the lead practice nurse who combines her depth of professional knowledge and experience with a lovely sense of humour. At a time when the NHS is often criticised for poor service my care was nothing but excellent.

  2. Review titled A round of applause please

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Not feeling my best I had to make a trip to the surgery on Monday for an Emergency appointment I felt awful and looked even worse ! However the receptionist that greeted me made my day just a little better ! I’ve seen her on a few occasions and she is Never without a smile she is so polite and cheerful and a real credit to your surgery ! I felt a little review was warranted as these things mean the world to us that have underlying health issues. To be greeted like you are the only patient in the surgery is heartwarming …

  3. Review titled Mental Health

Rated 3 stars out of 5

As I write this I am still in slight disbelief over what has happened to me today. I have been struggling in silence with my mental health and had finally made the decision to start talking about it. I rang the Dr 2 weeks ago, perfectly good Dr, very helpful, prescribed some medication and advised making an appointment with the mental health professional who works there on Fridays. Rang up, no appointment for the Friday that week so had to make an appointment for the following Friday a little frustrating but fair enough. Arrived in the surgery today having booked time off work and move things around to come to this appointment. Checked in, sat down and waited. Eventually a receptionist came out and said "are you here to see *persons name*?" To which I said yes. "Oh sorry they're not here today, they're either on annual leave or off sick". Brilliant. 2 points to raise here. 1) if they were on holiday why was I allowed to make the booking? 2) if they were off sick why didn't I get a phone call? When I walked in I was literally the only person in that surgery so they would have had time to call. The receptionist told me to call again in two weeks to make an appointment. Two weeks! Where I could then have to wait another two weeks to actually get that appointment. Meaning that I am likely to be waiting 6 weeks since my initial appointment! Now I like this surgery, I haven't lived in the area long but they have always been great with my partner. However this is just not on. There is a huge mental health crisis in this country. It took me long enough to come to terms with the fact I needed help. I spent the last couple of days mentally preparing myself only for them to essentially go "oh....sorry they're not here". This has not helped my mental health at all. I just want help

We are very sorry to hear about your experiences, but we wonder if you may have contacted the wrong surgery. We do not have mental health workers at Underwood Surgery so there would not have been a clinic here on Friday. In addition, we obtain landline and mobile numbers or email addresses for all our patients when registering which enables us to notify them if a clinic needs to be cancelled. We hope you manage to find the help and support that you need.
