  1. Review titled Excellent communications and consultation

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I found my appointment with GP to be well-organized and efficient, thanks to the convenient online scheduling process. The doctor maintained close oversight of my results, providing timely updates and discussions. I appreciated the clear plan for future appointments and tests. Overall, I felt that both the GP and the booking team demonstrated a patient-centred approach to my care.

  2. Review titled Unacceptable service

Rated 1 star out of 5

In constant pain I needed blood tests before my medication could be changed. No blood test appointments until end of September so I went to bolton hospital for them. Received a request from doctor to book an appointment to review my blood tests, on the link they sent me, no appointments available. Went on the app, no appointments available. Phoned the surgery at 5:15pm, tenth in the queue!! And they're accepting new parents, try looking after the ones you have

  5. Review titled been trying for months

Rated 1 star out of 5

been trying for months to get an appointment to no avail half the time I just dont get through when I do I'm informed that all the appointments have gone but I can try ringing 111 as they are allocated appointments for them. on occasions I've been told to just go to a&e if you're that bad (it's as if it's the receptionist who decides who can or cannot get an appointment. you have more chance of winning the lottery than getting an appointment here the whole place needs closing down and reopening as a real drs surgery instead of spending £1000s decorating and trying to make it look like an efficient surgery that its not

  6. Review titled Virtually impossible to get appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

Why in the world is this surgery still accepting new patients when it cannot service the ones it’s got… it’s not fair on patients, the staff or the doctors. They must stop accepting new patients and a new surgery is clearly needed for Westhoughton as its population has grown ridiculously due to the aggressive building drive.

  7. Review titled Needs overhauling

Rated 1 star out of 5

I agree with other experience. Too many patients I’m told they rely on natural wastage. I don’t mean patients going elsewhere. NHS dentists do not take on patients when their books are full so why do GP’s. Another surgery is required but no one will do anything about it.

  8. Review titled Blackrod patients receive inferior level of service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 August 2023

Rang Blackrod number for a routine appointment. Was offered an appointment next week - great. Unfortunately it seems calls are being pooled for answering now by both sites and the receptionist booking the appointment didn't check which site I required an appointment for - this should be standard practice if calls are now pooled. Sadly I'm without transport so Westhoughton site is very difficult to get to and I have a disability so this would mean significantly more time off work. It's a 5 week wait for a similar appointment at Blackrod. This seems disproportionate and indicates that patients in Blackrod who cannot travel (elderly, frail, disabled, vulnerable etc) are receiving a significantly inferior levels of service which is unacceptable. There needs to be parity across the sites with Blackrod being able to offer appointments significantly sooner.

  9. Review titled total fiasco

Rated 2 stars out of 5

The nurse asked me to drop a urine sample off. I collected the bottle from reception but no paperwork enclosed showing my name, date of birth etc. I returned with the sample within 5 minutes and asked how would the hospital know who I was? She suggested I write on a post it note, my name, Date of birth and address and that the sample would go in the fridge to go the following day. I questioned her as I was very dubious that the sample would actually go, she confirmed it would! Four days later, the nurse said no results in but she was unable to trace whether the sample had been sent!!! Regarding the new reception, this is definately not an improvement, at least for patients. The desk is too high on one side or too low on the other. An old man was actually kneeling to speak to the receptionist! Also, whilst waiting, an elderly lady asked the receptionist how to deal with a urine sample, she was not helpful. Within minutes, the lady returned holding the water sample and asked for help from reception, they either couldn't or wouldn't help her. A kind lady in the waiting room helped her. . Patients were shouting reception to buzz open the doors, it was noisy, chaotic and poorly trained receptionists. It used to be a fantastic practice but virtually all the Dr's have left and you never see the same one twice! Where is the reception manager to supervise what actually happens! Thank goodness I rarely go.

  10. Review titled Wow

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 January 2023

Rang to make my 4 year old grandson an emergency appointment at 8.30am in the morning as he was really unwell and the receptionist made the decision that he was well enough to go to the hospital to be seen ?? I didn’t know receptionists were medically trained , and referring patients onto the hospitals is not acceptable as they are already stretched . What happened to duty of care for 16 and unders ? Also I have to agree with previous comments on here when ever you go in it’s empty . Maybe you should pay gp’s for the patients they do see in person or actually deal with instead of paying them for the patients who are registered on the books regardless .
