Review titled Terribly disorganised and broken surgery
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 July 2024
What has happened to this surgery? The customer service is now appalling and the whole process is broken from start to finish. The anima system is unfit for purpose, giving a complete lack of empathy and disjointed from any human interaction. Trying to get an appointment is virtually impossible, a promise for a phone call from a doctor simply doesn't materialise. When someone does call they either phone the wrong number or let it ring once and hang up. Three occasions i have been at this surgery and the computers have been down meaning no access to records. The website is down as i write this. The navigation unit that your call eventually gets put through to offers rude and pedantic service, scoffing what you say and giving you the feeling that they just can't be bothered with you. They often try and palm you off with an associate, ie not a properly qualified general practitioner or doctor. The phone appointments are a waste of time , all day waiting on edge for a call that never happens and if it does they make you come in to see them. Why not just do that in the first place? I truly believe that due to the disjointed and shambolic way that this surgery is currently being run that people are actually in danger. I am sure the surgery will blame lack of funding but no amount of money can compensate for bad management and disorganisation.

Review titled Terrible.

This doctors has gone downhill, you cant get through at all, everything is digital. Service is terrible, Im not actually sure you would consider them a GP surgery. I have been with this surgery for over 20 years and will be moving doctors due to the inability to see a GP when needed. Its a disgrace. I tried calling to make an appointment, sat 40 minutes on a call, gave up, used the online service which wasnt easy, I was then advised they dont fit coil for contraception purposes and gave me the number for the sexual health clinic. The number provided was out of date.

Review titled Practice gone pear shape
by Keith Pratt - Posted on 15 July 2024
The most trouble I have with Velans is getting an appointment. I registered with Anima but to log in is an assault course. Every time I put in my password it says it doesn’t recognise. The change which I have done but to day is the straw that broke the camels back. The change in my password this morning is not acceptable to night. I am seriously thinking of leaving and registering at another practice. It is so frustrated.Keith Pratt

It took 4 days for my request via anima to be responded to.Can never get an appointment as easily as the last two years. Important issues that are not immediately life threatening not seen to in a timely fashion..this includes trying to get a reasonably quick response through anima.. Waited 4 days plus

Review titled Unreliable pracice
Rated 1 star out of 5

Do not want to use new anima online service. It's a total waste of time. We need to go back to speaking to a human. I received two worrying texts from a doctor with very little explanation and no appointment. I telephoned the surgery and after 4 attempts of hanging on for 40 or more minutes I got in touch and was told the 'team' would be informed. I asked who the team were but got no answer. I said I wanted to speak to a doctor about the texts an eventually found part of the answer on the dreaded anima saying I had an appointment I think with some kind of clinician on the phone. I have since looked up the appointment on anima but it appears to be gone as it says no appointments. I do not want to receive texts or use anima as I would rather have a letter sent through the post with times and dates of appointments so that I don't get mixed up. The whole practice has gone downhill and both my husband and I do not feel our health is any longer in safe hands. We don't understand all this online stuff and we should be allowed to get our appointments in a far easier manner.

Review titled Failing organisation

Having had experience of this practice for a number of years I have sadly watched the GP service go from excellent to what can only be described as chaotic and dysfunctional. Whilst I'm sure the GP's and Nurses and support staff are doing their very best to ensure good patients outcomes, whoever is now managing the practice is clearly implementing systems which hinder access to the medical support required by the patients in their care. Anima is a case in point. Interestingly, Anima on their sales site suggest one of the key benefits of the system is to reduce telephone contact, I used Anima, had an appointment booked and confirmed by text but Anima had no record of this appointment so I still had to ring the surgery to confirm I had actually had one, so it's not even achieving it's key objective, given the need to contact the surgery via phone to confirm. I had asked to see a GP but once again saw a nurse practitioner who wasn't able to deal with my complaint. Total mess, I know the issue is funding but be honest with patients, stop pretending the system is working, you're wasting more money having to see patients multiple times to arrive at a diagnosis.

Review titled Appalling online request service.
Rated 1 star out of 5

The new online only method of contact is awful! Only open till 2pm, no option of choice of time to be contacted back. The promises this would streamline services have sadly not been the case. I feel for the staff too and people who are not able to use Internet have no hopes of getting their request heard. Unable to arrange a vax appt, which I was texted about by phone. I was asked to contact surgery but phone system no longer let's you speak to someone to arrange appointment. I had to do an online request and am waiting for a call at some point. If I miss the call, will have to do another online request!
