Review titled Disgraceful
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 July 2024
The few times I have had to visit this practice I have either left in tears after been spoken to condescending and with no compassion or I have left feeling helpless with no treatment plan or help. I recently attended after having what appears to be a chest infection for the past 2 weeks. I could not get an appointment so took the morning off work to go to the walk in. It was very apparent I was a number and they couldn’t get me in and out quick enough. The nurse said I had hayfever. None of my symptoms were hayfever symptoms including coughing up green phlegm with blood in. I was told I could not bring a sputum sample as the nurse did not feel this was necessary. After a private health check at work, they were bewildered that I had been told I had hayfever and confirmed a chest infection. Absolutely disgraceful, lack of care, and missed diagnosed.

Review titled Excellent health care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I I had hoped that the insect bites to my feet would settle but when I woke this morning, it was clear that they were getting worse and I had an infection in most of my foot. I reluctantly planned to go to the Doctor’s emergency same day surgery, expecting it to take up most of the morning if I was seen at all. I arrived at the surgery at 8.15 and was pleasantly surprised that there was only one other patient waiting. When the clinic opened at 8.30 there was still only five of us. I was seen by an ANP, who made a diagnosis and sent a prescription to the pharmacy. By 8.45 I was leaving the surgery with appropriate treatment. I don’t think I could have asked for better or faster treatment. I have wondered all day why anyone would go and sit in A/E with their long wait times , if they could be treated by this excellent service at their own surgery.

Review titled Please do better…
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have gotten myself a phone appointment on the app as it’s extremely hard to get one by ringing up nowadays and I had a really bad experience with both doctors that rang me. Before I get into it, I understand that staff are overworked and stressed but if you choose this career (which is a lot of hard work I can imagine) you’d at least try and care, try and help and provide your patients with the best advice, solutions and treatments you can. I rang up first in March I believe and it took me a lot of courage to ring up to talk about my mental health issues as it’s been getting worse for quite some years now. If you struggle with mental health you know how hard it is to speak up. I told the doctor I wrote a list of all the symptoms I’m experiencing and he told me to list them. Half way through listing all my symptoms I’ve been stopped and asked to refer myself to counselling and that he will send me the link and prescribe some medication (which I asked for). The counselling he’s referred me to is for anxiety and depression and I’ve had a chat with them and they said that if I believe that it is something more than just anxiety and depression (which I do as what i’m struggling with I struggled since I was a child) I should ring my GP and talk about it. I felt like I wasn’t listened to whatsoever and totally brushed off. I had a follow up call with that doctor and said that counselling can only offer me help with my anxiety but I’m not sure if it’s just anxiety and depression I’m experiencing here and he just brushed it off and told me that meds won’t work straight away and I have to wait. I waited and meds made me feel worse so I thought I’ll give it another go and book an appointment with a different doctor. So this time I have my list ready and I did tell the doctor that the list is long but she told me to tell her. Yet again I had to go through the hell of having to repeat the symptoms as it is hard, just for her to say “Right, this took you 10 minutes to list all the symptoms. Next time can you ask for a pro longed appointment as now I’m late for my next patient.” I didn’t know that, I apologised but I did tell her the list was long. I just think this is such a disappointing approach. If she cared she could’ve nicely offered to rebook the appointment so we could discuss the symptoms and I could actually get the help I need. Took me years to speak up about it and I get treated like this. I am now left hopeless and about to register with a different GP and try again.

Review titled Spoken down to and gaslit

Booked an appointment with one of the doctors at Victoria Medical Centre (Dr. W is all I will say.) over concerns of potential prostate problems as i've had close relatives diagnosed with prostate cancer. When I arrived at the clinic, the doctor was 15 minutes late calling me for my appointment and when I entered and mentioned my concerns and request for a prostate examination in order to put any and all worries to bed I was told that due to my age (27) there was "unheard of" that someone my age could have prostate cancer. When mentioning that I have symptoms that line up with such and would simply like a test to find out so the doctor shut me down and immediately stated that I needed to do quantity checks with my urine to see if it was simply my bladder not filling properly or something else (despite telling them I urinate 20+ times a day and it is a full bladders worth each time!) and when I responded with "I'm definitely certain it's a lot, I could probably fill a bucket truth be told." The doctor simply asked me to be quiet, despite agreeing with them! On top of all this, they were grinning ear to ear while I was trying to explain this, and when I told them I didn't appreciate being brushed off, or spoken to in the condescending tone they had they accused me of calling their years of expertise into question! At no point did I ever question their education, nor intelligence but at that moment I certainly questioned their professionalism! When I stated I was no longer comfortable with them dismissing myself of my fears the way they had, they called my fears "unfounded" which I immediately called them out on, as did my partner, to which they immediately denied stating such. When we confirmed they had indeed stated that and not to lie to my face they became agitated and defensive, stating my partner and I were there simply to challenge them and in their anger got up to rush me through a prostate exam then and there, which I vehemently denied due to definitely not feeling comfortable being in the same room as this doctor let alone with them examining me in a delicate area. I left soon after as frankly I was appalled and on the verge of tears due to their frankly disgusting attitude towards me. I have spoken to the receptionist and had said doctor (hopefully) blacklisted from ever being assigned to me again, but I urge anyone thinking of transferring to this practice or ever booked under a Dr. W to please be very careful as they do not appear to have the capacity to be professional, and will talk over and belittle you if you have a differing opinion, going so far as to blatantly wave their degree in your face and say "I know better than you so shut up" alongside attempting to gaslight you all the way into believing you didn't just hear what they said to you. Overall, absolutely horrific doctor who has no business handling patients if they can't even show a modicum of empathy for a clearly scared patient. I will be looking to transfer soon.

Review titled What a difference a day makes
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Yesterday couldn’t get to see a doctor, given appt a fortnight away with advance practitioner. Today went to walk in, told receptionist exactly what I told them previous day over the phone, was given an immediate appt with doctor same day.

Review titled Useless

Unable to get a drs appointment at all for nearly 3 weeks for mental health issues. Only offer back dated sick notes at those appointments. So if your work doesn't accept back dated sick notes (like most places don't ) you have a choice of being off ill or being able to eat

Review titled I can’t get to see a doctor
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Mr Middleton - Posted on 02 January 2024
I have been suffering with a urinary problem for weeks without being able to see a doctor, consequently my mental health is deteriorating. I did see a health practitioner but I can’t see one again because it’s an ongoing problem. I therefore need to see a doctor for medication and a referral to the hospital but I have to wait weeks to do so. The practice is not fit for purpose.

Review titled Ridiculous Service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sean Stanley - Posted on 05 January 2024
Had a double appointment booked for 05/01/2024, never received any confirmation for it so had no proof. Went to my appointment 10 minutes early for the receptionist to tell me that she couldn't find my appointment and nothing was booked in for today. I have waited about 4/5 weeks for this appointment. All seems very strange that my booked appointment for today has been completely deleted from the system after leaving my first negative review of this poorly run practice. Please if you are seeking a Dr's Practice for yourself or your family, make your choices wisely and seek a different practice to this one.

Review titled Wanted to see a doctor
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Rang and told receptionist symptoms and I needed to see a doctor. Gave me appt for 2 weeks hence with advanced practitioner, appt with doctor even longer wait and it would be telephone. Following day went to walk in, gave receptionist symptoms; exact information as 1st day. I was told as it’s an ongoing problem I need to be seen by a doctor and was given an appt same day I really don’t understand why that couldn’t have been the outcome on day one

Review titled Disappointing
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have attended the practice today as a 'walk in'. Whilst I have no complaint as such regarding the acp I saw, I found the response and attitude of the triage/admin person to be unacceptable. Them - one of the issues I had 'could not be sorted out today - you need to see a Doctor about that'. Me - you haven't got any appointments available until 29th Jan, that is why I have had to come today Them - you need to make an appointment to see a Doctor Me - yes I know, I have, can't get one until the 29th As the issue I raised is/was, in my opinion (and not being allowed to specifically say what it is) potentially serious, I find the response entirely inappropriate. I realise that the NHS is completely shot to pieces, but this is not good enough. What is more puzzling is that the practices' website is saying they are taking on new patients from several areas, when they are struggling to meet the needs of the patients they already have. Their website does not even allow you to download their complaint form. The 'system' for queuing for walk in appointments is inadequate. As there is no numbering procedure, it is not always easy to determine what the order of the queue is. No doubt there has been many an argument at busy times when people think that someone has pushed in. I have been treated by numerous competent and caring Doctors over the years at the practice, but I could not recommend the practice at this time, mainly due to the availability of Doctors and the attitude of a minority of the practice support staff.
