Review titled Frustrating
Rated 2 stars out of 5

First of all why, oh why do you have the right to force people to go on line to make a booking? My wife who does not like putting personal details in online websites, especially when you hear about the NHS data being breached. So, she managed to make an appointment for our daughter whilst talking to a human (finally) only to be an appointment that wasn’t practical, but was told to call back in the morning. So I, called back only to be told that I would to go online and start the process again!!. At this point I visited the surgery and the lady on reception was very helpful and agreed that I should not have go through the procedure again!!!. My daughter finally got an appointment with thanks to the receptionist and not! to the process- I feel that this is just another attempt to make cost savings.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. Our aim for our new online triage system is to encourage our patients who can use the internet to submit their request online as this will free up our phone lines to those that can not. If our patients struggle to use the online system or do not have the internet our reception team will do it on their behalf. A lot of our patients find this more effective as they are not waiting on the phone for a long time to speak to our team to arrange an appointment. All online medical requests get sent straight to our GPs to triage so you are getting the most appropriate appointment. If you would like to discuss further please contact our reception team and they can pass you through to a member of our Management Team who will be happy to help- Many Thanks, VHG Admin Team

Review titled Just another number
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 December 2024
After recently having to go through the new completely unhelpful online service, I received a message to make an appointment again via the web. This appointment was not for another 2 days, yet I am unwell and in pain now. So, I made the appointment neither the less with no email confirmation of the appointment. That is until I left the appointment! So I attended on the day and early for the said appointment only to be seen late ( part of the course) and to be greeted with why are you here, so what was the point of the online question other than to waste my time. So once again I explained why I was there and the issues I am having and the pain that I am experiencing etc. only to basically been told there is nothing to be done and take these tablets and that I don’t need any further investigation. The issues is resulting from an injury that I sustained at the age of 10 and now I am in my 50s, and have previously been told to have it checked every 10yrs, we are now at 13yrs, the last of due check resulted in surgery. So hence just another number and more pill pushing, which is of course creates revenue.

Review titled Odd Triaging System/Reception Practices
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 November 2024
After being removed from the practice list for a move out of area (despite explaining I was a student and would return to my home in East Leake regularly for medical care) I called on my return to be reinstated. I was told that I would have to come into to practice to re-register, which I did on 25/11/24. I waited patiently in the queue and relayed my situation to the receptionist, who was adamant I should complete this online. As an autistic adult, I appreciate being able to talk with someone about queries, as well as have these resolved in a straightforward and logical manner. I therefore asked for a paper form (which I was aware existed). The receptionist continued to insist I do this online, but with some gentle insistence she gave me the paper form (I could not see the reason for her resistance). A section on the form asked for previous out of area addresses, and I provided my previous address in East Leake (as I had never disclosed my out of area address having never registered with another GP, and the header on the section related to tracing medical records). The receptionist was again adamant I needed to provide this information. I politely explained that I did not feel I needed to, as it would not help locate my record and so was irrelevant. When i enquired about this, a manager was called t who’s intervention felt dismissive and invalidating, she said words to the effect of: there’s a big queue and others are waiting, just don’t fill it in if you don’t want to. (My details were processed quickly and without the address that was so adamantly requested) Today (29/11/24) I called to request medication after receiving a text explaining I needed to speak to a Dr about it. Again the receptionist was adamant I should do this online and despite me being on a call, would not look to book this in. I understand this is likely a response to managing demand, but I feel it depersonalises healthcare and limits patient choice and experience, particularly for people who prefer knowing what is going to happen.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with our service. When patients go to University this becomes your new permanent address as you would be spending more time there then at your old address. If you became unwell whilst you were living away from our surgery we will be unable to treat you as you are out of area, and if you were needing regular check ups this will not be safe for us to monitor you as you are not within our catchment area and would be safer for you to be monitored closer to home. If you become unwell whilst you are back in East Leake you can register as a temporary patient and our GPs will be able to help. Regarding our new online triage system, patients who are able to use the internet are encouraged to do so as this will free our receptionists time to help those who can not use or do not have the internet. It is designed to save patients time as they can complete an online form within minutes rather than coming into the surgery or waiting on the phone to speak to our team. If you would like to discuss this further then one of our Management Team will be happy to help. Thank you again for your feedback- Many Thanks VHG Admin Team

Review titled Very Efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5

After describing my symptoms this morning, my GP suspected a kidney infection. I was called in within an hour and walked out with antibiotics. This is exactly what a great GP practice should be like – quick, efficient, and responsive!

Review titled Brilliant Practioner
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mick Bulley - Posted on 19 November 2024
Today I had an appointment with The Nurse Executive. I am generally very reluctant to attend the doctors and really think I may have a form of “ white coat syndrome”; however I had an appointment with The Nurse Executive today who was fantastic, patient, knowledgeable, and confidence inspiring. Just a brilliant practitioner. Many thanks.

I thought the covid vaccinations were very well organised, with good advice when booking and delivered with the minimum of fuss. I felt well cared for on the day, and on the way out I did say to one of the staff that I would award you all a gold star.

Review titled First class staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having problems logging onto the prescriptions renewal service, I rang the Village Health Group and spoke to a receptionist. She was extremely helpful and sorted the problem. very quickly. I had another query regarding blood tests and, again, the receptionist was helpful by asking a doctor to contact me. Within an hour I had the query explained to me. It was excellent service and proof that the triage system is the way forward.

With so much bad press of late I felt that it was important to praise your new online system which is extremely efficient and so much better than the telephone appointment system. A brilliant service for your patients. Well done Village Health Group
