Review titled Patient Access system replacing telephone in person queries
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Adriana Noble - Posted on 17 April 2025
As I am not particularly technologically savvy, it took me several attempts before I managed to open an account on Patient Access website. This was after I was informed that appointments could no longer be made by calling in or on the phone. I think the new system must be very difficult for those who do not have a smartphone or access to internet. This may affect the elderly or those who simply do not own a smartphone nor a technological device. This category of the public have no way of booking an appointment if they are not online and may be just as in need as those who have the technological skills to use the app. I note that there is a checklist of questions you have to answer before you can even book an appointment on line. If you answer "no" to all of these, you cannot make an appointment online. I worry that many people may just give up if they are faced with this checklist. I am aware that GP's have been overwhelmed with appointments in the past, some of which may not have been necessary. However, I am not sure that those who really do need to see a doctor, will manage to get an appointment going forward because of the barriers to communication that the online system presents. I now have a Patient Access account up and running and I think, personally, I will manage going forward. I had to call in at my GP to find out what to do when my request could not be answered online but now have advice on how my particular issue can be resolved. Therefore, I do not speak for myself as I am mobile and rarely need to make an appointment. I often need prescriptions recommended by my consultant and sometimes book myself in with the nurse. I speak for many others who I am aware are having difficulties. I have always found the reception staff, nurses and GP's very helpful at my GP surgery. I fear that the new exclusively digital booking system may result in more work, rather than less, on the administrative side because of the difficulties many may encounter online. Please understand that I am very happy with Vineyard Hill Road Surgery. My issue relates exclusively to the online booking system which I am aware that many other GP’s and clinics have now adopted. Yours sincerely

I really cannot express how happy I am with my GP who has been dealing with my appointments. She makes me feel listened to and respected. She really cares about her patients and finding out what is best for them. Very happy, and really “enjoy” my appointments.

Review titled Great and caring practice

I got some serious rash on my back and armpit few weeks before. It was first diagnosed as shingles by the first doctor. I took acyclovir for a week but it did not work. I returned to the GP next week. An other was really patient to check my rash and diagnosed it was fungus infection. She was right and the prescription cream worked very well. Thank you

Review titled Empathetic and supportive GP
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ellie - Posted on 03 February 2025
I came in for an issue that I was expecting to be “resolved” with a recommendation for paracetamol. The GP was attentive and took me very seriously. I felt like I was really being listened to about my pain. She gave me clear instructions forward, alongside a referral for further investigation. This GP sets a very high standard and I am very grateful to have been seen by her.

I was very impressed by how professional and skilled the doctor was during our appointment. In 10 years in the UK she is the best doctor I had. She went above and beyond and answered my questions and took my concerns seriously. I am already recommending her to people I know in the area.

Review titled Frustrating experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 October 2024
My experience of care can be summarized below: When calling the surgery, I was often faced with by a member of staff showing a lack of empathy, compassion or urgency especially on cases that need urgent priority this has sadly happened more than once, and this does not seem to be addressed. I was also told repeatedly that are no appointments available this forms a loop where you are asked to call the next day the same issues recur when trying the next day. Wait times on calls to the surgery are often very long more than 25+minutes in my experience and you can be on hold for a long period of time just to be told there is no bookings available, this in my opinion ridiculous and is unacceptable even after calling at 8am. When attending the surgery to check in I had to wait for a long time all staff are on calls, there is no way or a self-service to check in to your appointment which is frustrating. The level of care received often varies at times depending on the GP you are seen by no assurance on whom you see, you often left feeling like you haven't even been assessed correctly or you have been rushed to get you out the door, perhaps a lack of professionals available to your care, which is somewhat troubling.

Review titled : Frustrating Experience with Appointment Rescheduling
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 June 2024
Dear NHS, I am writing to express my frustration with the service I have received from my doctor. The Vineyard hill Road surgery )This is the second time I have called to inform you that I would be 10 minutes late, only to have my appointment moved without my knowledge. Each time, I have made the trip to the clinic, only to be told upon arrival that I need to reschedule. I am extremely upset because this has caused me to make two unnecessary trips, wasting my time and causing great inconvenience. This level of service is unacceptable, and I hope this issue can be addressed to prevent it from happening again in the future. Sincerely, Camilla tazzer

Review titled Wonderful
Rated 5 stars out of 5

After changing from another surgery where I had a number of negative experiences, Vineyard has been a positive experience every time. There is never a long waiting time for my call to be answered, never a long wait to see the doctor and every receptionist, doctor and nurse I have seen has been pleasant, efficient and helpful. They actually listen to you and make eye contact. Can’t praise them enough. Thank you and Well done to the entire team for making the whole process such a positive one.
