I seeked regarding sleep and anxiety problems. The practitioner I saw was amazing. Spending time and listening to my home problems which I felt was causing my anxiety and sleepless nights. I felt nervous talking about it but he wasn't at all judgmental and was empathetic and showed concern, thus I felt I could open up and it helped to share. He could see I needed some help through this, and I was very relieved to be treated seriously and offered help with medication and further appointment to review. I have just had my second appointment with him and am pleased to say I received exactly the same empathetic treatment from him and the medication is certainly helping. I am also pleased I have continuity by seeing the same person. I have always been very pleased with my treatment at Waterside by everyone however I have never had to in the past approach the practice regarding my mental health, but I am so pleased I did as I really feel that I am being helped and will continue to get the support I need. Thank you very, very much.

I was pleased firstly to be given an appointment on the day I phoned. My appointment time was on schedule despite the surgery being busy. The GP quickly grasped the issue presented and questioning was thorough and helpful. I was given particular medical information I'd never been given before which explained why I was experiencing certain symptoms. I did not feel the consultation was rushed in any way. Treatment options were fulIy explained. I left reassured that the issue had been fully understood and could be successfully resolved.

I cannot get an appointment because there aren’t any allocated for steroid injections. I have been trying for weeks and the response is still the same. Then on my latest call I was to try again in 3 weeks! This just isn’t good enough when you are struggling to walk with chronic pain.

I am sorry to hear you have not been able to make an appointment for a steroid injection to suit. Steroid injections are not a requirement of our NHS contracted patient care but we provide them to benefit our patients whenever there is capacity to do so. We have a major clinical system change happening in the next few weeks which has reduced our ability to provide these extra services but they will resume soon. I had 2 appointments today one this morning at 8.45am and one this afternoon at 4.25pm. I have to say I cannot thank them both enough, both professional, caring and so thorough, after feeling a little apprehensive about visiting the surgery (as I do not like visiting unless absolutely necessary) they both put me at ease. They were amazing! Thank you so much.

I am giving this review as I was shocked to read a string of negative comments on social media accompanying a short video of an empty waiting room. My experience is a very positive one. I completed the e-Consult on the NHS app and within an hour received a phone call from the receptionist booking me to see the GP at 11.30 that day. I was seen on time and referred to a specialist at the hospital where I was seen in 10 days followed by minor surgery. My advice to patients is to try to help yourselves by using the systems provided, turn up on time for appointments - not too early and not late - and avoid social media. Every contact I have had with Waterside surgery has been a positive one.

Thank you so much for this review Chris. Social media can be as much a curse as a blessing, as events elsewhere in the country recently have shown. I hope that patients, as you have, will make an informed judgement based on the care they receive rather than forming incorrect assumptions based on images of an empty waiting room. Serving two surgeries and close to 18,000 patients, an empty waiting room reveals only that patients have arrived on time with clinicians also running to time. In my opinion that is a positive! Went to see physio who was very helpful, put my mind at rest. Gave me great help with physio to do and how to do it properly. Was very thoughtful.
