  1. Review titled Requested appointment for ulcer on my tongue

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Felicity Walsh - Posted on 16 January 2024

Hi tried to ring the practice in the morning could not get through. I then tried when I got home after work and got through. Was then told that I needed to go to my dentist. I explained that I did not have one as when my dentist decided to take me off role as they were going private. I explained that NHS information informed me that I needed to contact my doctor if I had an ulcer for over 3 weeks that I should contact my Doctor. I was then told to ring in the morning to get an appointment. I explained that I had tried but couldnt get through as it was always engaged and as I worked during the week I could not spend the whole time on the phone all morning. I was then informed that I could have an appointment with St Clements surgery at 7.30pm for which I was grateful for. The next morning I was contacted by St Clements to ask if I could get in earlier at 5.30pm for which I was grateful for as I have trouble driving in the dark. I have received medication and have been informed if it does not work I need to see my doctor at Watlington medical centre and it is deemed as a medical issue not a dentists.

  2. Review titled Care and compassion

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I came to the doctors this week with my little boy after he had fallen down the stairs. I was upset and shaken myself. The receptionist was so lovely and understanding. She sent me to A and E but checked I was ok first. This was at their busiest time with people calling for appointments and several people in a queue in the surgery itself. I was so appreciative of the time and care taken. Thank you

I have always found all the staff at Watlington surgery to be helpful, professional and caring. I have been able to see or speak to a GP if required and always had great care. I would highly recommend this surgery.

  6. Review titled No longer a practice that I would feel safe to recommend

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Felicity Walsh - Posted on 24 June 2023

The pandemic has affected all of us in one way or another; as a member of staff in education we have also had to up our game and improve safeguarding under exceptional circumstances without the popular support from the public for the NHS. I would particularly like to thank A&E and 111 who have also experienced the same unrelenting pressures to keep people with health conditions safe. I have to say that this same experience is not what we face as a patient at watlington medical centre. It focuses entirely on the staff's needs and not those of the patients and generally has an attidude that they are hard done by rather than understanding that we all contribute to society. I have visited A&E and so has my partner more than we would have liked because we don't believe we will get the same care as our GP surgery and that is something that needs to change. As patients we cannot get appointments and the availability of the attached pharmacy has reduced again. As a GP practice I would expect that you work with all NHS workers including the QE hospital and not sit back and sulk because you dont like what is happening to you. They also have issues but dont treat us with rudeness reducing availablilty for appointments and reducing the opening hours of the attached pharmacy. My partner is now retired and has no transport to WMC there is not bus link that enables him to go and pick up prescriptions and return by bus. We have now transfered to Boots at the Hardwick. The current system which I suspect that it is not down to you of continuing to have to order our continuing prescriptions with no review; makes it a mockery and I suspect that GPs may be paid per prescription. I personally have had no review or MOT since I was forty I am now 64 years old, but you continue to decide that I need a review for tablets that have never changed; but never see me.

  7. Review titled Excellent Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Elizabeth Adams - Posted on 02 June 2023

I have visited the surgery three times in the last two weeks for a chest infection, seeing the nurse practitioners and having blood tests. I received prompt follow up phone calls and efficient service from the pharmacy. I have only been at the practice for a year and this is the first time I have had to use its services. This is the best surgery I have ever experienced. Receptionists, nursing and pharmacy staff are all friendly, helpful and caring. Thank you, you are very much appreciated.

  8. Review titled First Class Care and Service

My elderly mother was recently suffering from tiredness and exhaustion so I called the surgery for advice. She received a telephone appointment within a short time which was followed up by a face to face appointment at the earliest which resulted in a referral to the local hospital where she once again received fabulous service from the relevant team. Due to the prompt assistant she seems to be making a good recovery and I'd like to thank the doctor, staff and hospital team for their fabulous care.
