It’s Monday. I try ringing late morning to speak to the receptionist . No - emergency calls only till 1400. 14.00 Try three times , nope, all lines are busy and you can’t even join the queue. 1600 try again, now accepting calls. You are number 10 in the queue After 30 minutes on hold I get to number 1 in the queue, another 50 minutes later they still haven’t answered . It’s disgusting. When ever you actually go into the practice, there are only a handful of people in there. For a brand new practice with a state of the art building it is truest disgusting.

Dear Mr Chapman Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you have had difficulty getting through on the telephone. For several months now patient demand has been very high and in addition to that we have had several vacancies so we have been short staffed. We have now recruited to some of the vacant positions and are training the new staff but that will take several months to complete. We currently allow 15 people to join the telephone queue at any time and we go onto emergency only telephone calls over the lunch period. This is to slow the telephone calls down and allow our staff to have a lunch break. The waiting room may seem quite when you visit because we stagger the GPs’ workload to deliberately reduce the number of patients in the waiting room and hence reduce the infection risk. Whilst some GPs are seeing patients face to face, some will be making telephone calls and some will be completing administration tasks e.g. processing prescriptions, reviewing and acting on test results, making referrals to hospitals and dealing with incoming correspondence like hospital admission and discharge reports, A & E reports, out patients clinic reports. The service we provide is not always to the standard we strive to achieve but I would like to reassure you that every member of the team is working incredibly hard to provide the best service possible within the resources we have. If you wish to discuss your concerns further please contact us Kind regards Practice Manager
