    I want to acknowledge the immense pressure that all staff at Wellside Surgery are under. I fully appreciate the challenges of working in an under-staffed and under-resourced environment, and I do not underestimate the difficulty of their roles. However, despite these pressures, I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, my interactions with reception staff this week—particularly today—left me feeling belittled and dismissed. When I called to enquire about an appointment and to clarify the difference between a so-called 'routine' appointment and securing one during the 8:00 AM rush, I was met with a tone that felt off-hand, patronising, and at times, passive-aggressive. While I understand that appointment availability is beyond the staff’s control, the way this information was communicated made the experience far more distressing than necessary. For example, when I expressed that I did not understand the process and asked for clarification, I was met with a response that felt not only dismissive but also passive-aggressive in both words and tone. The staff member ultimately said, "I'm going to end the call now," despite knowing I was feeling fragile. While I appreciate that staff may be under time pressure, the manner in which this was said made me feel like a nuisance rather than a patient seeking support. A difficult message can still be delivered with empathy, and in this case, it was not. This lack of care left me feeling powerless and unheard—something that should never happen when interacting with a healthcare provider. As someone who is educated, articulate, and experienced in professional settings, I found this interaction disheartening. If I felt this way, I can only imagine how much more distressing this might be for vulnerable individuals who rely on this service. I strongly urge the reception team at Wellside to reflect on how they communicate with patients, particularly when delivering difficult messages. Professionalism, kindness, and empathy cost nothing but can make a world of difference to those seeking care. I sincerely hope to see an improvement in future interactions.

    After 3 failed prescription requests I am eating this surgery as useless. Request put through 3 times by reception. 1) shows as printed on system but failed overnight 2) reordered with reception but only half of prescription ordered (confirmed by boots) 3) reordered again by reception and nothing sent to boots 6 weeks without correct medication, absolutely useless

    Was sent a text message for an annual review appointment. Can’t get one as “all the appointments have gone!” Even for the next few weeks. What on earth is going on in this practice? I already take my own blood pressure and blood tests at my local hospital so as not to take time up at the GPS. My six monthly review was due on 23/9/23 and no call in whatsoever. Help!!!

    Had a terrible cough. Seen by nurse for something unrelated and referred me straight away to GP. Swiftly seen and sorted. My old practice in Hertfordshire never even saw me. Feel very lucky to belong to the surgery, have no problems getting an appointment either. Cannot fault them.
