I have been unable to get an urgent appointment for 6 weeks. I have been told not to book appointments on the NHS app as the practice cannot control when they turn the radio off, which is a reasonable adjustment I need as an autistic person. Alongside this there is no lift so I am already limited to appointments on the ground floor. I cannot use the phone and was told to fill out a form or email which I've done multiple times without getting an appointment.

Dear patient, Thank you for your concerns, and sorry that you are not happy with the service we provided. We do provide appointments on the ground floor for patients with mobility issues. (as we do not have a lift in our building) Since other patients' confidentiality must be respected, we cannot turn off the radio while they are in consultation with other clinicians. However, we can schedule appointments during quieter times for those patients who do not wish to have the radio on due to their medical condition. It is our policy to make reasonable adjustments for all of our patients, and we have made some adjustments recently for one of our autistic mental health patients. Recently, a patient agreed to attend the appointment on the first floor at a quieter time, but when we contacted the patient on the day to remind them about their appointment, she requested an appointment on the ground floor, which was difficult on short notice and patient cancelled at short notice (we wasted two important appointments). We also offered the patient the next-day ground floor appointment during lunch break and offered to turn the radio off, but she again declined our offer, as her appointment with the BT engineer was more important than her health. We value all of our patients and do everything we can to meet their needs. Our staff have received all the necessary training. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance. Our aim is to ensure that all our patients get the care they need. Thank you. Maulik Shah Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Really Good Medical care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I just want to say that I get a fantastic service at this surgery. I have been a patient there for around 40 yrs now and am very happy with the service. The Dr I usually see is easy to talk to - I feel heard and respected and talked to as an equal - which matters to me , I get a sense he really wants to find the best treatment possible, All the staff though -including nurses and reception are great - friendly and polite. I would definitely recommend Westpoint Surgery.

  3. Review titled Good GP practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband and I have been registered with this practice for many years. We have always had a very good experience, whenever we have needed help and support. You hear of many people experiencing problems getting to see a GP but we have never had a problem. If you call at 8 am you will almost certainly get an appointment that day. You do have to wait for routine appointments but urgent ones are always available. The medical and nursing staff are extremely supportive and helpful. Checks on any health problems are done on a regular basis. Overall a very good surgery to be registered with
