  1. Review titled Really Good Medical care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I just want to say that I get a fantastic service at this surgery. I have been a patient there for around 40 yrs now and am very happy with the service. The Dr I usually see is easy to talk to - I feel heard and respected and talked to as an equal - which matters to me , I get a sense he really wants to find the best treatment possible, All the staff though -including nurses and reception are great - friendly and polite. I would definitely recommend Westpoint Surgery.

  2. Review titled Good GP practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband and I have been registered with this practice for many years. We have always had a very good experience, whenever we have needed help and support. You hear of many people experiencing problems getting to see a GP but we have never had a problem. If you call at 8 am you will almost certainly get an appointment that day. You do have to wait for routine appointments but urgent ones are always available. The medical and nursing staff are extremely supportive and helpful. Checks on any health problems are done on a regular basis. Overall a very good surgery to be registered with

  4. Review titled Extremely disappointed and angry

Rated 1 star out of 5

Since registering with West Point in May 2022, I’ve experienced repeated ‘brushing-off’ and dismissal, rude judgmental treatment from a GP, and a lack of actual medical care. My private doctor sent over a shared care protocol which needed to be signed off by the partners at West Point in order for me to continue receiving my prescription through them. Despite two months of repeated phone chasing, getting cut off by automated voicemails and trying to get hold of anyone who could help, eventually I had a bored-sounding doctor tell me that basically they didn’t want to sign the agreement - I wasn’t given any real justifications for this, nor was I provided with any information on next steps I could take. Shared care agreements are at the discretion of the GP to approve/take on, and my case is medically uncontroversial, so I would have expected at the very least some kind of explanation for why the process wouldn’t be completed. Recently I started experiencing the early symptoms of a condition I’d suffered from in the past, which needs very early treatment with generic steroids in order to give the best chance of rapid recovery. I was seen by one of the GPs who refused to prescribe anything before he could rule out “any underlying causes” for my condition - he attempted to call a specialist but was (of course) greeted by a voicemail recording; and left me without a prescription, and my window for effective treatment rapidly closing. I view this as entirely unacceptable behaviour from a medical professional, and may well mean I’m now stuck with this issue for far longer than I would otherwise have been. The practice would also do well to place less emphasis on forcing all visitors - exempt or otherwise - to wear a face covering, and focus instead on properly ventilating their waiting rooms if they truly are so concerned about mitigating the spread of covid in the clinic. I’ve now transferred back to Babylon GP at Hand as my main healthcare provider, as I don’t feel like West Point had any intention of providing the kind of care I expect from the NHS. The ‘stretched health service’ line has become an absolute joke of an excuse for the systematic dismantling of humane, patient-focused medicine, and frankly it feels like they don’t work for us at all any more.
