Review titled I would never swap surgeries!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tracy Jones - Posted on 23 January 2024
Due to an ongoing health issue starting in Dec 8th I have had to call to get help on 3 occasions. Yes i had a short wait to get through but having got through i got a face to face visit twice. The receptionists have a tough job and I just wanted to say Thank you. I have always managed to get through albeit a wait in a queue but I expect this these days, The staff are great!

Review titled Absolutely awful

If you can even get through to arrange an appointment it must be some kind of miracle. Whenever I need an appointment, for example, today; I've been trying to get through since 8am (as recommended). It is now 10.15, and 300 calls yes 300 calls! And I still can't get through to get in the queue. Not good enough at all. No wonder the NHS is on its knees if GP's are taking to action to alleviate the pressure on the NHS, people have no choice but to use emergency services for trivial issues. It needs to be rectified now, the service isn't good enough.

Review titled Waiting time
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Mr Geoffrey kedzierski - Posted on 06 December 2023
My wife was In considerable pain having twisted her knee at work we phoned the surgery for 40 mins before a reply ..... she explained the situation to be told a consultation appointment would not be available today ,,,,, so arrangements were made for the next day .. her appointment was for 9.40am she arrived in plenty of time and checked in ... sadly her 9.40 am appointment extended to 10.20am when finally being called in to her surprise it was not a doctor as requested but a locomm doctor and after a discussion as to her injury was told there was no serious problem it would return normally within a few days my wife was relieved that she did not need surgery but as to the immediate appointment time and the extended waiting time and diagnosis I feel it was a bit of a waste of time

Thank you for your comment below regarding your wife’s recent experience with the surgery and we are sorry that you felt it was a bit of a waste of time. Firstly, we are glad your wife does not need further treatment and hope she is feeling better now. From our records it does appear that the first appointment with our Advanced Nurse Practitioner, which was undertaken over the telephone, was booked at 8.35 in the morning. While we do understand the frustration waiting on the phone, we have many calls each morning and we do answer them as quickly as possible. Calls are picked up by our team from 8.00 and we apologise about the wait, but this is unfortunately a reality of modern general practice when the demand for services is so high. We are trying different options around how this could be improved. A call was then made to your wife at 9.29 am and an assessment was made by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner over the phone. It was felt that a physical examination would be best in the circumstances, and it was agreed that a face to face review would be booked with a doctor the following day, as there were no more suitable face to face slots available at that time on the Tuesday. With regards to attending the surgery on Wednesday, we do have to apologise for the wait. As you would expect, our doctors do try to run on time where possible however, if earlier patients have run late, or an emergency arises, then this can happen, which did occur on that day. You are correct in that the doctor your wife saw was a locum, however he is one of our regular locums and extremely experienced. He has worked with us for the last 4 years, however we are sorry that was not made clear to you at the time. If you would wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery. Wetmore Road Surgery
