  1. Review titled Unwelcoming

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Firstly I was disappointed to see a handmade photocopied paper sign on the reception desk that read something along the lines of ' we are very busy and understaffed. If you want to help then please ask for an application form' Passive aggressiveness at its best! How does the practice manager allow staff to display something like this? Its unprofessional and rude. I also witnessed a gentleman who was a wheelchair user with very limited mobility and communication be taken by his assistant to have a flu vaccine in the pharmacy area. The gentleman's assistant asked if there was a private room they could use and the staff member said no. The gentleman then had to experience a total lack of privacy whilst his assistant removed his top clothing for the staff member to deliver the vaccine. The staff member didn't introduce himself or communicate with the patient at all. Honestly my vet communicates with my dog better than this! Totally get it that staff are probably under a lot of pressure and patients can be demanding and rude but its unfair to treat everyone like an inconvenience.

  2. Review titled Zero service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I managed to get an appointment with a Nurse practioner for my teenage daughter would needed to be seen about a non urgent matter in Aug. Told i had been referred to the Dermatology dept at SMH. Months later i chase the surgery i was told to contact the hospital myself after weeks of chasing and calling got the number for the dept. Told it was listed as a routine check. I complained got a call in November from a GP who said we had to try treatment first before a referral was made. The prescription was for 3 months Callback in Feb 2023. I tried to book an appointment and can never get through. Emailed complaints to the secretary to no avail. Tried to engage PALS and they found out the case was never referred to the hospital. Disappointed is an understatement. I have never felt so useless in my life i cannot help my daughter because the Surgery has zero appointments and does not follow through on complaints. They hide behind the messaging service or email rather than make an effort to speak to service users to resolve the query or complaint. 11 months on my daughter has not been seen by anyone they offered a telephone consultation and the problem has got worse. She has lost all confidence and she is distressed and refuses to go out unless she is going to school. Zero service. Zero

Good afternoon. I am sorry to hear about your negative experience. With regards referrals, unfortunately GP surgeries has no authority to influence hospital appointment lists and waiting times. With regards available GP appointments, We do understand the frustrations felt by patients accessing their local GP surgery and we are working hard to accommodate the increased level of demand. Evidence suggests that up to 30% of GP consultations could be more appropriately seen by someone else or could be completely inappropriate. This means that potentially up to 1 in 4 GP’s could be working all year-round seeing patients that could be seen by someone else or could be managed differently. I would like to make a note that this is an issue on a national level and more information can be found on our website. Please, email us with more details on bobicb-bucks.whitehillsurgeryadmin@nhs.net and we will be able to investigate your complaint further. Look forward in receiving your email. Kind regards Complaints Team Whitehill Surgery

  3. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been trying to book an appointment since Friday, today is Monday and it seems next to impossible to get anybody on the line. I have not seen the gp since I moved here and it’s very sad that I am unable to access the healthcare that I’ve paid for. The NHS and whitehill surgery need to do better! Staying on the line for over an hour to make an appointment and still not get one isn’t cool. Why can’t we make appointments on line then? Since everyone is so busy to take calls?

  4. Review titled Bad service

Rated 1 star out of 5

The service at this surgery has significantly gone downhill since covid!. Spent 5 hours on the phone and 2 visits to the surgery within 3 days to get my problem resolved of getting a prescription for my insulin dependent diabetic brother, so literally a matter of life and death situation!. The receptionist had no compassion, or care!. Was informed of the rules for ordering a prescription over the phone but this was our only resort as we was ordering an alternative insulin so couldn’t go down the normal route I get you have rules but this situation should have been dealt with, with care and consideration!. I have been a patient for 37 years myself and other members of my family for longer!. I’ve had to phone twice myself for something as I’ve been waiting two days for that!. The whole process of phoning your doctor is very stressful and needs to be changed because the service will only get worse and when you do get through you are being dealt with rudely and having to explain yourself 3 or 4 times!. Please try and sort out the whole experience when having to contact your surgery

  5. Review titled Supportive and thorough staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Pam H - Posted on 16 August 2022

Amazing reception staff, especially considering the current situation in NHS recruitment situation. Good secretarial staff, who process referrals efficiently. GP's and Nurses work well to support patients, aided by efficient paramedic, pharmacist and physiotherapy professionals. Much improved service recently despite covid pressures. Well done everyone!

  7. Review titled Urgent Prescription raised quickly

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was on holiday with my daughter in Newquay. She developed Shingles which she has had 3 times previously so we knew she had 72 hours to start taking Anti Virals. I rang Whitehill and got the automated message saying no call back appointments available so I rang 111 who gave me the number for Newquay Health Centre. The receptionist I spoke to there was very unhelpful and said they couldn't help, I had to speak to our own GP so I rang Whitehill again, managed to speak to the receptionist there and she was so nice and helpful. Firstly she said there were no appointments but when I explained that my daughter had 72 hours to take the anti virals otherwise it wouldnt be affective, she added me onto the on duty doctor call back list. Within 1 minute I received a text asking for a picture of the rash which I sent. 5 minutes after that I received a message from Dr Turner asking for the Name and postcode of the Pharmacy in Newquay we would like the prescription sent to. I provided this information and a minute later received a text saying the prescription had been sent. I cannot praise Whitehill enough for sorting this out quickly.

  8. Review titled No complaints

Rated 4 stars out of 5

The surgery gets a lot of bad reviews which can be off putting but I’ve been with the surgery for 7 years now and I can’t fault them. Even through the pandemic I always managed to get an appointment and even seen face to face. Yes sometimes you do need to try ringing through a couple days in a row but all surgeries are oversubscribed so I think this is pretty much the norm now.
