It was hard enough to get an appointment before the new system started but now it's just ridiculous. This practice is still accepting new patients but does not have enough doctors to deal with the patients it's got now. You can't get an appointment with the regular doctor that you have been seeing for years anymore you have to see whoever is available unless you can wait for several weeks. There is no consistency with doctors anymore so you have to explain everything over and over again which leaves less time for Treatment or diagnosis. Most of the time seeing a different doctor leads to changes in medication which when they don't know your full history can make things worse for the patient and result in more appointments being made which were not needed.you even have to do an econsult form for test results. These forms are not easy to do for a lot of people and don't cover aloft why you need to see a GP

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding access to our GP practice and the current methods of contacting us. We understand that changes in the way services are delivered can be challenging, and we truly value your feedback. We would like to assure you that we are committed to providing safe, timely, and appropriate care to all our patients. As with many NHS services, demand for appointments continues to grow, and unfortunately, we do not have an unlimited number of appointments available each day. To manage this demand effectively and ensure that we maintain the capacity to respond to urgent needs, we have had to implement systems that help us prioritise care safely and fairly. In December 2023, the average number of patients per full time GP was 2273. At Whittington Moor we have 1545 patients per full time GP. This is 32% less patients. As a practice we have invested more in expanding our GP team to ensure our patients receive the best possible care. While we would very much like to offer appointments to every patient whenever they need them, the reality is that increasing demand and limited funding make this unfeasible. You may be aware that while the NHS received some financial support through the April 2025 National Insurance increase, this funding did not extend to General Practice. As a result, the resources available to us remain constrained. In addition, all of our GPs, except one work part time and, like all staff, are entitled to annual leave. This naturally impacts the availability of individual clinicians on certain days. While we always try to accommodate requests for a specific GP, it is not always possible to offer appointments with a preferred doctor. However, patients are very welcome to make these requests, and we will do our best to meet them where capacity allows. To continue meeting the needs of our patients as effectively as possible, we have had to adapt our approach to how care is accessed and delivered. By directing requests through our digital platform, we are better able to assess needs early on and ensure patients are seen by the most appropriate clinician or team member, at the right time. This also helps us to make the best use of our clinical and administrative resources, ensuring that staff are available and supported to deliver care efficiently. We understand that this may feel like a significant change, and we are continually reviewing our systems to ensure they are as accessible and user-friendly as possible. Should you have any difficulty using the digital triage system, our reception team is always available to help guide you through the process or assist in submitting a request on your behalf. Thank you again for your feedback. We remain committed to improving patient experience and access and appreciate your understanding as we work to deliver the best possible care with the resources available.

Don't use the surgery very often but when I need help it is not available as Whittington moor are saying they do not have enough staff to treat me We moved to a total triage system in November to better manage demand and ensure patients are seen by the right person at the right time. Last week, we received 62 more appointment requests than we had capacity to accommodate. To maintain safety for patients, we will be closing triage when we have reached capacity. We are always striving to find the best ways to serve our patients while ensuring we work safely. We do not have the funds to hire additional staff to increase capacity. Our triage system is under review, we will inform you of any further changes. Whittington Moor Surgery

Dear Mr. Lindley, Thank you for your feedback. Our message to patients does emphasise that our capacity is limited, and we are striving to maintain safety. Unfortunately, our funding is not increasing to support an expansion of our capacity. Our practice team is working tirelessly to accommodate all our patients, but the current resources remain insufficient. Please feel free to bring this to the attention of your local MP. Best regards, Tamsin Pasanisi-Cooling Practice Manager

Did not help with my medical issues at all. Just said all my physical issues are down to depression and to take some antidepressants, which I have said many times I didn’t want to take anymore as I have already taken the same ones before and they actually made everything several times worse even after being on them for more than 6 months. Had concerns of it being a physical issue but that was dismissed and never looked into and they never gave any explanation as to why. Didn’t listen, was aggressive and didn’t help. Overall very unempathetic and unprofessional.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I am sorry to hear this is how you felt following your appointment with us. This is not the experience we want for our patients. I would like to look in to this further for you. If you would like to contact the surgery and speak to Tamsin (Practice Manager), or Helen Proud (Operations Manager), we will happily investigate this. Kind Regards Tamsin Practice Manager

I apologise for the negative experience you encountered during your visit to our practice. We currently have new staff members undergoing training, which may have contributed to the issues you faced. Rest assured, I will convey your feedback to the team and prioritise making necessary improvements. Regarding the extension of your prescription without complete information, it is challenging for me to provide a specific comment. However, I would appreciate the chance to discuss this matter in more detail. If you are open to it, please contact to the surgery and request to speak with Tamsin, the Practice Manager. Many Thanks
