Review titled Media in the surgery
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anita Scammell - Posted on 30 September 2024
The modern surgery is well lit and airy with plenty of seating but I made three observations on my last visit. The little radio is an annoyance in its volume and the music is not calming. A hearing impaired patient will have difficulty in hearing both the receptionist and the call for their appointment. I'm not sure who it is benefitting! Another observation is the wall screen providing patients with useful information is partially clearly visible. If you are seated then the reflection of the fluorescent light reflects into the middle of the screen! On occasions I have observed patients not seeing their name and room number. The patients name is not on the screen for enough time, they have read their name and not remembered the room number. The patient has had to rely on other patients for the information. It would perhaps be better if this information stays on the screen until the patient arrives at the correct room. In my opinion the screen should be where the many advertising notices and information sheets are positioned because you can't read these anyway unless you go up to the board. Finally, there is no privacy in speaking to the receptionist even though patients in a queue are asked to stand back. These are just my observations and maybe they will be considered in order to improve the good quality of service that this surgery provides.

Review titled Terrible service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Paul Torkington - Posted on 06 June 2024
I have had problems ordering repeat prescriptions from this surgery for numerous months and despite ringing and requesting it doesn’t happen . I have been waiting for the complaints manager to contact me regarding the terrible service ,but despite numerous phone calls and promises nothing has happened . I cannot stress enough how poor the service is and can only agree with the majority of reviews scoring 1 out of 5

Review titled Was originally sceptical
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 June 2024
I was originally sceptical about the triage and new appointment system. I have found that getting an appointment has been much easier and quicker and from my experience since it was adopted it is definitely working. I have always ordered prescriptions on line either by NHS app or Patient Access since they were introduced and I find the latter easier to use but both very effective. No problems at all with the staff, they are in my experience trying their best to help people with access problems, I witnessed this whilst waiting the other day. Even my concerns about the changes when doctors have retired or nurses have changed have not thankfully been a problem. The only criticism I have is sometime when in the waiting room the music playing in the background is not very calming and and just creates an uncomfortable noise for me personally. Keep going you are doing a great job.

Review titled All round Good
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Keith Bennett - Posted on 28 June 2024
I have experienced a high level of service from all members of staff during this months involvement. But I must identify Dr. S for her dedication in trying to resolve my concerns. She explains all aspects of medication and proposed treatment clearly.I came away from my Phone discussion feeling confident that we were progressing in the right direction. Thank you to all the whittle surgery team members ,but most of all Dr. S she has been outstanding."Thank You"

Review titled Useless gp app
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Phillip williams - Posted on 21 May 2024
Just had to hand deliver my monthly prescription request (again) because the ‘Wonderful App’ has failed again. Why can’t I send it by email as before. Why spend a fortune installing a process which doesn’t work in place of one which did. Meanwhile, elderly people like myself who as the biggest users of the NHS are brushed aside to pacify younger people who are App literate but y need to use the GP service.

Review titled Forward moving ,Backward thinking !

I was Previously registered at this surgery when it was located at its former dilapidated Preston Road site , getting an appointment was never an issue .Now in its newly located impressive state of the art building looking .(Not sure what it’s like on the inside as I can never get in ), same reason as previous reviews ! Ring bang on 8am,’your in a queue of 30 seems to be the standard automated reply , please request call back and you will keep your place in the queue.Call back arrives 55 mins later to be told there are no appointments ring again tomorrow so on and on and on it goes Modern Britain what an absolute joke.

Review titled No appointments for children
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2023
I’ll start by saying that the GP’s and Nurses are fantastic at this practice. But trying to get an appointment is a nightmare. My daughter had a minor injury/pain that definitely did not warrant A&E (especially at the minute when the NHS is advising that only genuine life threatening emergencies are to attend A&E due to the junior doctors strikes). After over one hour on hold I was told there were no appointments for her. I explained that she was a child and should be offered a same day appointment. I spoke to the Practice manager and she was rude and put the phone down on me without saying goodbye. I was told she would call me back. Three hours later I got a call back and they then directed my daughter to A&E which was completely inappropriate and a waste and misuse of resources. I will be informing A&E that we were told to attend there by the GP as they refused to see her.

I am sorry you feel your experience with the practice was poor. I am the practice manager and did not speak to you, therefore I am unsure who you spoke with. If you would like to discuss further please contact the practice and ask to speak with our Operations/Complaints Manager, Vanessa Cant.
