  1. Review titled Won’t get an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 July 2024

Can never get an appointment even if 1st in the queue for my 2 year old son. Has gone down hill massively in the last 6 months or so. He had tonsillitis with a high fever, couldn’t get an appointment, been throwing up for days, couldn’t get an appointment. ‘At full capacity’ everytime I call for my son. Which leaves a mother with a sick child desperate and helpless. Doctors are great tho I must say.. if you can get in to see them. Wouldn’t recommend and have registered somewhere else now.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you have been having in obtaining an appointment. We are experiencing a period of extremely high demand on our services. Due to Government guidelines, all patients have to be given the appropriate advice on the day of contacting us. Once we have reached our capacity staff are trained to signpost patients to the most appropriate alternative service provider. Many ailments and illness can be treated under the Pharmacy First service which we can make a referral into or patients can visit their local participating pharmacy. Most Pharmacies in Rainham are signed up to deliver this service. For everything else requiring clinical input on the same day, we have to advise patients to contact NHS 111 as they have the ability to book into the Urgent Care Treatment Centres, which unfortunately we don't have access to. We are in the process of trying to recruit another GP which will increase our appointment capacity. Patients can always contact me with any concerns or issues and I will do my best to address them accordingly. I can be contacted by sending an email to wigmore.medicalcentre@nhs.net or calling 01634 231752. Yours sincerely Kelly Mills Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Amazing practice!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have always had a really positive and professional service from Wigmore medical Centre. The receptionists are incredibly helpful and are always able to provide paperwork or appointments needed. The doctors are very thorough and I have always been seen promptly with any further treatments or referrals also being dealt with very quickly. I have full confidence in this practice, and want to let them know what a great job they are doing

  3. Review titled Great Service!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Recently moved ourselves and elderly parents to Wigmore having been with another practice locally which was not delivering a service of any kind. We can only thank you for what has already been a very good experience. Within two days my elderly father-in-law was seen by a physiotherapist and now having much needed management of an ongoing problem. Our repeat prescription requests were dealt with swiftly which is not what we have been used to and we have not been ‘caller number 37’, all in all we are extremely happy to have secured registration at Wigmore. In this time of change within our NHS it’s been reassuring to see that some practices are still striving to deliver a good service to their patients. Thank you

  4. Review titled Never any appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

The surgery now seems to be run by relief doctors. You can never get an appointment. If you need an appointment they only have a few appointments. I was number 9 in the queue when I got thru I was told fully booked try again tomorrow. I then rang following day and again they said fully booked. I asked for a routine appointment but they said only taking appointment bookings on the day. So basically no chance of seeing a doctor.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We have had 3 permanent GPs at the Practice for the past 6 months, however we have been involved in the Enhanced Access appointments where our patients have been able to be seen at alternative sites by other clinicians. This moved back into practice on the 1st April 2023 and we are now offering enhanced access appointments to our patients only on a Tuesday evening from 18:30-20:00 with a GP and Clinical Pharmacist. It is recognised that appointment availability is an issue across the NHS as a whole and as a practice we are constantly working on ways to improve capacity and availablity. Unfortunately everywhere is struggling to meet the current demand. From the 1st April 2023 we are now working on an on the day triage basis whereby all patients calling in will be directed to the most appropriate service. This may be an appointment with on the day or in advance with the most appropriate clinician, referral to the community pharmacy service or, advice to attend an alternative provider, Urgent Care Treatment Centre or in the event of an emergency, A&E. We book daily routine appointments 3 weeks in advance but once these have all been taken we have to look at alternative options like e-consultations. I hope this has addressed your concerns, however if this is not the case please do contact me at the surgery. Yours sincerely Kelly Mills Practice Manager
