  1. Review titled First class practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Annie Brooks - Posted on 16 July 2024

I have been with the practice since 2022 and have nothing but praise for them. Each time I have needed an appointment I have received one within a week, the same day if urgent. All the Doctors , Health practitioners and Reception staff I have seen have been professional, competent, reassuring and courteous. I recently had issues with a frozen Shoulder and the Doctor was thorough and referred me for a steroid injection, which I received promptly. I feel extremely lucky to be a patient here and have nothing but praise for them.

  2. Review titled Wistaria is an absolute first-class surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 May 2024

After three or four days of suffering a severely painful throat and dry cough for which home remedies and a few Ibuprofen a day had not helped and not having slept for four nights I filled in the online form request for are phone call from a GP/face to face appointment. At 7.30am I emailed the form to Wistaria. (It is long with many important details required and is well worth the effort of filling it in and gives far more information to the doctors reading the forms than is possible to give over the telephone.) One four fifteen minutes later at 8.45am, I received a phone call offering me an appointment with a GP in the Iris Suite at 10.20am. Amazing! The doctor prescribed taking Ibuprofen together with Paracetamol for a few days. Clear instructions about how many of each to take per day and at what intervals were written down for me. A spray to numb the throat was recommended. That night I slept for the first time in four days and for over 9 nine hours. I was told to contact the surgery again if necessary. The day after, I realized in a panic I had thrown away 2 weeks worth of a regular medication I take in error mistaking the full packets for empty packets and I had completely run out. I went to the surgery unannounced. It was treated as an emergency and within 45 minutes a doctor had rung me on my mobile, issued a prescription and the pharmacy next to Wistaria had handed me the replacement medication. What a relief.

  3. Review titled Very poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by John Sheppard - Posted on 30 May 2024

Tried to get an appointment, which I found to be extremely difficult. Tried phone, online & visiting practice. Absolute nightmare was even told how reception staff get kids ready and manage. In the end contacted 111 and got a call back from them advising me to see my GP urgently..... after letting reception hear the message from 111 I did get an appointment with bloods and urine samples taken. Approx 3 weeks to get to this point. Had urine infection, treated. Still no results on blood test. Situation continues did to see a physio at practice. My problem or part of it is change in toilet "wee" habits, frequency at least doubled with very uncomfortable urgency now. The big picture is that at times I could only walk with assistance and with a lot of discomfort. Onthe 29th I got a call from Wisteria surgery offering an appointment on the 6th June. As I am supposed to be on holiday then, if I can that is..... & my current situation with pain discomfort and problems with catheterization I was asked to go into the surgery and leave a urine sample with them using they're toilet facilities and they would deal with it! However upon arrival I was told No you cannot do that, in the end spoke again to the manager and she told me no At this time its been some 5 plus weeks and quite honestly not a lot has been done really. Pain discomfort with catheterization isn't much fun. Apart from the surgery being aware of my holiday dates they still offer me an appointment in the middle, then tell me I will have to start the whole process again upon my return. That should take around at least 10 weeks 2.5 months if the past is anything to go on. Not impressed at all.

Thank you for contacting us. I understand you tried to leave a sample with us in the afternoon after our daily sample collection had left. Our staff tried to request a sample the following day and to give you an appropriate sample pot - however you declined. We are able to change appointments due to holiday commitments and am happy to do so - please contact us by phone on 01590 672212. Kind regards Jan Lamont, Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Fabulous Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I don’t typically leave reviews, but wanted to share my positive experience as a patient of Wistaria. Since joining in 2021 the care I have received has been excellent by all members of staff. I feel very lucky to have been under the care of this surgery and in particular the GPs and nurses looking after me. I have nothing but praise and wanted to pass this on to the practice before I leave for pastures new. I can only hope to find another surgery with the same care and compassion like I have been lucky enough to experience at Wistaria. Many thanks to all.

  5. Review titled Felt Ignored

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 June 2023

I did an online form explaining my symptoms after a bad reaction to a prescription. The doctor who called me was quite condescending and I did not feel like I was being listened to. The doctor was also pushing a treatment on me i had rejected in the past, even after i explained to her that i had discussed this option with another doctor and did not want it. I am quite disappointed as I have always had a great experience with doctors at wisteria in the past

  6. Review titled Useless website and unhelpful 'it' back-up support

Rated 1 star out of 5

by BJP - Posted on 16 May 2023

I sound the whole requesting prescription medication online process a massive struggle as I couldn't use the online form provided, I explained this by email sent the prescription information required but was basically told by i't'I can't do that I have to ring reception to be talked through it over the phone, so I still wouldn't be able to use the online form(if I can't use/access the form on my own, how would someone talking me through it over the phone ensure the I could?. I also cannot hold a phone and type due to only having one arm/hand. Despite my having provided the info they need for my prescriptionalbeit just not on the form they want it on, I still can't get my prescription meds which leaves me extremely stressed I was so ill in hospital they had the 'purple forms' out for me which shows serious concerns for my health which are being exacerbated by the stupid and unhelpful system. in place for requesting prescription meds.

From our records I believe we received your e mail at 9.16am and our team responded at 10.44 and gave details of how to order on line, in person or by repeat slip. We do not take requests over the phone due to drug names and possible errors. Our pharmacy team organised batched prescriptions for 6 months at the same time. If this is not you, and we have not resolved your query then please contact our medicines team or me personally so we can investigate this for you.

While it’s some times difficult to get through of the phone, this surgery does take time to care for individuals. The doctors are hugely experienced and competent.
