Coming to terms with have a stroke, and awaiting new medication I contacted the GP's after they received a letter from the stroke consultant altering my meds. I rang and spoke to a telephone receptionist who was rude - telling me that the letter was with the GP and they only recieved it on the 3rd - It's now the 7th. The Manner was curt and distainful. lacking empathy and talking to me as if I was beneath them. Even commenting that "it's been the weekend and we don't work weekends" I tried to explain that excluding the weekend, the GP has had the letter for over 48hours. Receptionist also wanted me to confirm my address as I'd just moved - to which they were demanding that I have to change my GP and gave me 30days notice! after I tried explaining that I worked within the catchment area, they stated that it's against the rules to live in a different catchment area to your GP. I came to the NHS site and found lots of GP's accepting patients not in their catchment area's.
