We are sorry to hear that you had trouble getting through to the surgery. We have a new telephone system with an unlimited number of people in the queue. Users are given the option to press 1 for a callback which means that the system keeps you in the same queue position and when it reaches your place in the queue you get a call back. We also have online appointments which become bookable each day and some appointments which are bookable up to 2 weeks ahead. I am not sure how old your son is, but if the call is urgent for a child (or elderly person) then this will be passed to the duty doctor. I hope that you have been able to book an appointment for your son. If you are still experiencing problems please do not hesitate to ask to speak to either myself, the Practice Manager, or the Assistant Manager. I am sorry that I was not in the surgery on the day that you asked to speak to me.

Thank you for taking the time to add a review on this website. We are sorry to hear that you have had difficulty in booking an appointment. Monday mornings are one of our busiest unfortunately, do you have online access to book appointments in advance? If not contact Reception and they will help advise you how to get access to this. I note that one of our Receptionists has also been trying to contact you today in order to arrange a pre-booked appointment with one of the doctors regarding your request on Friday 3rd February.

  3. Review titled incompetence

Rated 2 stars out of 5

my daughter had an appointment for the nasal flu vaccine for weeks, we received a reminder txt which was fine, my daughter went to the centre and was told that they hadn't got any flu vaccine to give her and what they did have was out of date and the Nurse hadn't turned up. when i rang to ask why all this had happened, i was told " all i can do is apologies" this is a disgrace, call yourself a doctors, when you don't even know what you have available or what's in date, it doesn't instill confidence in the practice or the staff. I am absolutely fuming about this treatment. I asked had more been ordered and the answer was yes but it wont arrive until the new year now, what another joke.....it makes me wonder why we have practices, it takes you ages to get an appointment when you do actually need one and then when you do get one they don't have the medics to administer. what an absolute joke of a practice and the staff well what can i say.....i am at a loss for words... this practice needs to be looked in to.....

Thank you for your review, we are really sorry that you have had cause to complain. I wonder if you could contact the surgery via the main email address: woodsidemc.m86034@nhs.net with further details. We are very concerned that you were informed that the nasal flu vaccines were out of date as this is incorrect and also informed that the Nurse had not turned up. We always have at least 2 Nurses on site. If you could confirm the date of the appointment and the name of your daughter we can investigate this fully. Practice Manager - Woodside Medical Centre

  4. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julia Ahern - Posted on 20 December 2022

My daughter had been poorly with sore throat, high temperature and flu symptoms. We noticed she had an unusual rash on her hands and although her fever had gone we still wanted to check with the GP what with all the nasty bugs going around at this time of year. My phone call to the surgery was answered quickly and the receptionist arranged for the GP to call me - they phoned within the hour and were very reassuring while asking the relevant questions. I was able to take some photos of the rash on my phone and send via a link. The GP phoned straight back, put my mind at rest and prescribed a mild steroid cream, which we were able to pick up the same day. I was really impressed with the speedy and efficient service, thank you Woodside!

  5. Review titled Do not recommend

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery is one I cannot get my head around. For starters it takes me 30+ attempts of ringing to even get through properly and put into a queue. Secondly, the staff are always rude and snotty whilst talking to them. You can never get appointments! I just rang to get my 2 children seen and they said “there’s no appointments today could it wait till tomorrow” I said that’s fine, thinking they’d book them in for tomorrow! But instead she said “ok then ring back tomorrow and see if you can get an appointment” excuse me what now?? Apparently, they do appointments by day now. So you’re telling me if there’s an appointment available for my children tomorrow instead of actually booking them in, I have to attempt to ring in the morning and hope and pray I’ll get through in time for my 4&3 year olds to get an appointment?! Never ever had experiences like this at any other doctors surgery. Only Woodside medical centre. Seems to be the one neglectful doctors I know! And sadly my children are now effected too. I honestly do not know how this surgery is not been shut down. Never heard anyone speak a good word about this place. Something needs to be done and fast !! Because this isn’t on. Everyone should be able to get appointments/support from their gp surgery without the stress! There’s no excuses anymore of why they’re so rubbish and treat patients so poorly. There’s no excuse of covid anymore being the reason appointments are limited etc. This is not on!

  6. Review titled Cannot book an appointment for a child

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 July 2022

I just tried booking an appointment for my child and they said I have to keep ringing every day until I get one. You cannot book an appointment. I just waited in the queue and was told there were no appointments and I have to do the same tomorrow. Absolutely awful. So stressful for a parent.

We are concerned to hear that you were unable to book an appointment for your child. Our procedure is that if a parent/carer calls with concerns regarding a child under 5 then this is passed to the duty doctor for a telephone consultation and if necessary a face to face appointment once they have spoken to the parent. Could you either telephone the surgery and ask to speak to the Practice Manager of Assistant Practice Manager so that we can investigate further or submit further details via our website enquiry form www.woodsidemedical.co.uk. The Reception are able to book some pre-bookable appointments if these are available.
