  1. Review titled Excellent!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christina Davis - Posted on 25 February 2023

I feel compelled to write this review as this past week a receptionist on duty on the Monday morning shift was so extremely helpful and so understanding. The patient care is simply superb at Woosehill - from the lovely receptionists front of house to the GPs, all nursing staff and allied health professionals, administration staff...frankly - everyone at the surgery 'goes the extra mile' to help and care...always showing professionalism and understanding - whatever the needs. As mentioned before a few years ago; My Mother & Father were patients at the surgery and had been for many years too and the care (and to us as a family too) that they received and particularly prior to passing on was also so very much appreciated. Thank you!

  2. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Lucy Putney - Posted on 21 February 2023

I have mixed experience with this practice. The doctors and nurses and hcas I have seen have all been fantastic, kind and thorough. However, a year ago I wrote to the practice manager to raise an issue that the pharmacist had requested blood tests with out telling me she was ordering them or why. I was therefore very disappointed when the exact same thing happened this month. I am told by pharmacist that they need a thyroid blood done, when I go to have the bloods I’m told they have requested a lot of bloods and a urine test and the hca cannot tell me why. I do not understand why this pharmacist does not understand informed consent. Why is it so hard to explain to someone what tests you are doing and why? I do have the right to decline but cannot do so if I’m not told what you are doing. So disappointing and frustrating. I have mental capacity so please in future gain my consent before you perform clinical tests.

  5. Review titled Appalling practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Once upon a time this was a good surgery. But that was a long time ago. Why I stayed, was purely due to some misguided loyalty. Maybe I need my head examined. But if I did it certainly wouldn't be at the Woosehill 'Medical' Centre, as I wouldn't stand a chance of an appointment. Getting through the assault course of a booking system, and the rude, inquisitive receptionists would leave without the time with a doctor that I need. Now some the doctors are fine, some are excellent, but it seems that most are locums, or simply doctors who work there briefly before moving on. The concept of having a MD with whom I could build up some rapport is as likely as finding an honest politician. But in there past I have had responses like "there isn't anything I can do', or "get another appointment in a week if it doesn't clear up". As for the nurses; well once again several are splendid, but after experiencing a situation where I attended a double nurses clinic for two underlying condition (each ostensibly for 20 mins) but was hurried out after only 5, with the nurse complaining that they needed their breakfast. Naturally I complained. Naturally I was ignored. The drive to get patients in for tests for which the surgery can claim from the NHS is as clear as day, whilst any attempt to request a process that may incur a charge to the surgery is met with silence, excuses, or straight denial that they offer the tests (that are advertised online). If you want a doctors surgery simply so you can write it in forms such as medical insurance, then Woosehill will be fine. But if suffer an accident or illness then I suggest you call 111, or go private. You'll get a response then, rather than a wall of disinterest.

  6. Review titled Unhelpful reception/staff

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Raj Kesarimall - Posted on 15 November 2022

It is really frustrating and stressful dealing with the Woosehill Practice. My wife was running out of her prescription and she needed an annual review before the same was filled. The annual review was carried out over phone and she was assured that the prescription would be filled and she could collect the medicine from the pharmacy the next day. We gave it an extra day and went to the pharmacy who said they hadn't recd the prescription. We went into the surgery spoke to the reception and they said the prescription was issued, but for some reason it wasn't sent to the pharmacy, but not to worry it will be taken care of on a priority and it will be sent on a priority. Went into the pharmacy the 2nd day and the same story they hadn't recd the prescription. Went back to the surgery and the reception their was so unhelpful and stone faced. Her standard response was "I cant do anything, the Dr hasnt looked at it, I can only send a message"This despite we telling her that we have run out of medication and she was "all i can do is send a message to the doctor. This is not the first incident at the surgery. I have had similar unfriendly behaviour even earlier, but ignored it. Something needs to be done to adress this. NHS is here to help, but the staff here makes us feel that they are doing us a big favor and treat us very rudely. It is indeed stressful dealing with the surgery

Dear Mr Kesarimall I am sorry that you experienced a problem obtaining medication for your wife. We have since revised our prescription procedures. If medication is for any reason not issued the patient will be notified. Due to the high demand on issuing prescriptions, we request at least 2/3 day notice for routine repeat prescriptions to be issued so that the Doctors can review each request. We have a prescribing clerk on duty each day which you can request to speak to if you have any urgent special requests or problems and she will endeavour to help you. 7. Review titled Can't get appointments....ever!

Rated 1 star out of 5

Shockingly bad appointment system. We call when they say to call, wait for ages and still no appointments, they say cone and queue at the surgery the next morning... with a sick 3 year old?! Just a joke.

Dear Patient I am sorry that you have had a problem obtaining an appointment. We have significantly increased our appointment capacity and the telephone systems have been upgraded. If you feel its urgent for the day, you should be offered a telephone consultation with the duty doctor who will access the situation and offer you a advise. Thank you again for your comments which will be reviewed by the Managing Team Kind regards Chris Allen Business Support Manager

  8. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Booked a mediation review but was phoned back by the practice to say a GP appointment would be more appropriate. Appointment on the same day which was vital as I was coming down from Lincolnshire to help my dad with his appointment. The Dr we saw was fantastic he never tried to rush my dad who finds talking difficult, and really listened to what he had to say. He then phoned us up after the appointment to make sure we had fully understood the treatment he had prescribed. What more could you ask for? Thank you so much.
