Once upon a time this was a good surgery. But that was a long time ago. Why I stayed, was purely due to some misguided loyalty. Maybe I need my head examined. But if I did it certainly wouldn't be at the Woosehill 'Medical' Centre, as I wouldn't stand a chance of an appointment. Getting through the assault course of a booking system, and the rude, inquisitive receptionists would leave without the time with a doctor that I need. Now some the doctors are fine, some are excellent, but it seems that most are locums, or simply doctors who work there briefly before moving on. The concept of having a MD with whom I could build up some rapport is as likely as finding an honest politician. But in there past I have had responses like "there isn't anything I can do', or "get another appointment in a week if it doesn't clear up". As for the nurses; well once again several are splendid, but after experiencing a situation where I attended a double nurses clinic for two underlying condition (each ostensibly for 20 mins) but was hurried out after only 5, with the nurse complaining that they needed their breakfast. Naturally I complained. Naturally I was ignored. The drive to get patients in for tests for which the surgery can claim from the NHS is as clear as day, whilst any attempt to request a process that may incur a charge to the surgery is met with silence, excuses, or straight denial that they offer the tests (that are advertised online). If you want a doctors surgery simply so you can write it in forms such as medical insurance, then Woosehill will be fine. But if suffer an accident or illness then I suggest you call 111, or go private. You'll get a response then, rather than a wall of disinterest.

  4. Review titled Unhelpful reception/staff

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Raj Kesarimall - Posted on 15 November 2022

It is really frustrating and stressful dealing with the Woosehill Practice. My wife was running out of her prescription and she needed an annual review before the same was filled. The annual review was carried out over phone and she was assured that the prescription would be filled and she could collect the medicine from the pharmacy the next day. We gave it an extra day and went to the pharmacy who said they hadn't recd the prescription. We went into the surgery spoke to the reception and they said the prescription was issued, but for some reason it wasn't sent to the pharmacy, but not to worry it will be taken care of on a priority and it will be sent on a priority. Went into the pharmacy the 2nd day and the same story they hadn't recd the prescription. Went back to the surgery and the reception their was so unhelpful and stone faced. Her standard response was "I cant do anything, the Dr hasnt looked at it, I can only send a message"This despite we telling her that we have run out of medication and she was "all i can do is send a message to the doctor. This is not the first incident at the surgery. I have had similar unfriendly behaviour even earlier, but ignored it. Something needs to be done to adress this. NHS is here to help, but the staff here makes us feel that they are doing us a big favor and treat us very rudely. It is indeed stressful dealing with the surgery

Dear Mr Kesarimall I am sorry that you experienced a problem obtaining medication for your wife. We have since revised our prescription procedures. If medication is for any reason not issued the patient will be notified. Due to the high demand on issuing prescriptions, we request at least 2/3 day notice for routine repeat prescriptions to be issued so that the Doctors can review each request. We have a prescribing clerk on duty each day which you can request to speak to if you have any urgent special requests or problems and she will endeavour to help you. Kind regards Chris Allen Business Support Manager

Shockingly bad appointment system. We call when they say to call, wait for ages and still no appointments, they say cone and queue at the surgery the next morning... with a sick 3 year old?! Just a joke.

Dear Patient I am sorry that you have had a problem obtaining an appointment. We have significantly increased our appointment capacity and the telephone systems have been upgraded. If you feel its urgent for the day, you should be offered a telephone consultation with the duty doctor who will access the situation and offer you a advise. Thank you again for your comments which will be reviewed by the Managing Team Kind regards Chris Allen Business Support Manager

  6. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Booked a mediation review but was phoned back by the practice to say a GP appointment would be more appropriate. Appointment on the same day which was vital as I was coming down from Lincolnshire to help my dad with his appointment. The Dr we saw was fantastic he never tried to rush my dad who finds talking difficult, and really listened to what he had to say. He then phoned us up after the appointment to make sure we had fully understood the treatment he had prescribed. What more could you ask for? Thank you so much.

  9. Review titled Disappointed and concerned

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have been with this surgery for years and have generally found the staff to be helpful and been happy with the service provided to patients. However as countless posts mention here in recent years the appointment systems has become a mess and getting an appointment incredibly difficult. While I fully appreciate that the surgery is very busy and the pressures on NHS in general I do feel that the situation is now becoming a concern for patients wellbeing as my recent experience shows. Back in June/July doctors were concerned that my sugar levels are not being properly controlled and they wanted to change my medication while I wanted to wait till my annual diabetic review to see if there is some improvement in the situation before changing the medication. I was clearly told that I should book my annual diabetic review promptly to avoid uncontrolled sugar levels. My annual diabetic review became due in August and since then I have been trying to book without luck. I called in September but was asked to call back in October! I called again today hoping to get an appointment atleast in November and after waiting for 40 minutes was told that I need to call next week to have a better chance of getting an appointment! To be honest the receptionist was helpful and when I explained my situation and the risks of not having this review she did try to get an appointment sooner but was not successful. I cannot see how this surgery still accepting new patients when given my recent experience they are struggling to even safely care for their existing patients.

Dear Patient W'e sorry to hear your difficulties in getting an appointment for your diabetic review. I will report this back to our Reception Manager to investigate why you were misinformed, as we do have appointments available to book in November for annual reviews. This could be a training issue we need to address, as we've recently taken on several new staff. Please do contact me direct if I can provide further assistance in booking your diabetic review appointment. Jane Jacques Operations Manager

  10. Review titled Confusing telephone message

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 September 2022

Called at 8am to make an appointment. I was told that I was in a queue, then message said the surgery was closed. This happened twice. I called back straight away and was put on hold for 30 minutes. To eventually be told by the receptionist that all appointments had gone. Frustrating. Please investigate your phone system so noone else goes this. The receptionist was helpful in the circumstances. Thank you.

Dear patient We're sorry you had difficulty in getting through to reception. Our phone lines do switch over automatically at exactly 8am. We appreciate this is the busiest time of day and appointments do get booked up very quickly. It's good to hear the receptionist was helpful. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking at ways to improve patient services to meet the current extreme demands. Jane Jacques Operations Manager
