Just joined this practice as moved to the area. After 8 attempts to call over a 2 hour period when I finally got through I waited 35 minutes to speak to someone. All I wanted was to set up the family’s repeat prescriptions. She directed me to the website - I asked if I could use the NHS App which is far easier but no they don’t use it. I asked if I’d get confirmation that the prescription was accepted and being processed to which she said no. I said how was I supposed to know when it was ready to which she suggested I contact my nominated pharmacy which I’ve done every day for over week - still no prescription. I’ve tried ringing again today, again can’t get through been trying for over an hour just an automated voice stating call back later. I’m changing practice again, don’t care if it takes 2 weeks I’m definitely not staying with this one! My advice, let patients use the NHS App, the App would let me know when and if my prescription would be ready. Improve your telephone service it’s extremely poor

Dear Amanda We are sorry to hear you have not received a pleasant experience with the Practice. From reading your review, it appears as you may not have received the correct information. Whilst Yarm Medical Practice is not “responsible” for the NHS app, we are able to receive prescription requests via this method. If you are a new patient however, it may be that the NHS app has not been linked to your new practice. Our prescription team turn prescription requests around within 5 days, usually within 2-3 days. If there is ever a problem as to why this cannot be done, they are efficient and contact the patient directly explaining the problem. If this has not occurred, we would need to investigate the reasons for this. The Practice receives a high volume of calls, which our receptionists respond to as quickly as possible. We appreciate the frustration this causes for patients and we are working to improve this for all of our patients. We would like to investigate your issues further, to listen back to any telephone calls, look into why your prescription was not issued and identify any learning or training needs for the Practice teams. We would appreciate it if you could email the practice with further details, and mark it for the attention of the Practice Manager. We will ensure it is looked into further. I was put at ease as soon as I entered the practice. I am a nervous patient but I needn’t have worried. Very friendly & professional. The doctors I spoke to had time to listen to me & made me feel comfortable.

Our appointment link booking system is proving popular with many patients, and provides the opportunity for patients to select an appointment suitable to their needs and at a time and date convenient to them. the practice lived up to it`s reputation today. having had the stress of trying to arrange a telephone consultation with a doctor about injecting blood thinners before a holiday who was fantastic and arranged a prescription for me to pick up from the pharmacy. the doctor was not from this practice. he told me to just pop into the practice to have a quick work with the nurse about how to inject correctly. literally a 30 second conversation between appointments would be fine. i could have waited which would be fine. this is obviously to difficult for the receptionist to arrange and after consulting her supervisor i was informed that i would need to make an appointment to do this but there wasn`t any before flying in a few weeks. i don`t require taking up an appointment. why is everything with this practice so really difficult and so stressful? as if they go out the way to be difficult and awkward. you cant phone up, see your GP. currently taking high blood pressure tablets which is not helped by having to come to this place every few weeks. i will go and speak to the pharmacist at Cohens next door who are way more helpful.

Dear Paul Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback about your recent experience. I am sorry you feel that the Practice has not met your expectations on this occasion. The GP you consulted with, should have either provided you with the information you required at the time of your consult, or asked you to make an appointment if further advice was needed. Unfortunately, all of our clinicians, including our nurses times is allocated with appointments all day, and so they do not have capacity to squeeze in additional patients. Any consultation with a patient needs to be delivered safely, and this includes enough time being allocated to ensure the nurse can provide the necessary information to the patient as well as giving the patient the opportunity to ask any questions and ensure they have understood what has been relayed to them. Our receptionists would not be able to to arrange your request, if their is no time on the day available. Our main priority is to ensure the safety of our staff and our patients. The Nurse Practitioner was incredibly kind & organised a blood test, ECG & prescription for medication to happen immediately which has definitely helped reduce my anxiety regarding my blood pressure. Thank you so much for your kindness, your reassurance & your efficiency - I really appreciated this. You are a total asset to the practice & the NHS - thank you again!

When I called initially there were no appointments but the amazing receptionist could hear how unwell I was and kept me on the line while refreshing so she could get me an appointment. She was an absolute credit to the practice today! When I was seen by the practitioner he was calm and understanding and didn’t hesitate to get me the help I needed and send off some further tests to get to the root of the issue.

I recently visited the surgery after an illness I contracted in Thailand. I saw an advanced practitioner who was absolutely fantastic. I felt reassured by the tests he carried out and confident in his expertise. Very grateful.

the practitioner (l ee) was highly professional and knowledgeable during my consultation. he was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help. i felt ressured upon leaving and felt that i had been listened to and respected. the acp was highly competent and i felt comfortable in discussing my medical issue. his response was very kind, supportive and was able to advise me appropriately. the acp is an asset to the surgery.
