When I went into the surgery to pick up some test results I was told that I could not have them until I have discussed them with my GP. It is an insult to my intelligence that I cannot be trusted with my results before I speak to a doctor. It is important that patients are well informed, prior to telephone appointments, so that they can make informed choices in partnership with the doctor. Patients are put under pressure having to make decisions when they are not given a fair amount of time to look at and digest the results. It seems to me that it is a constant battle to get past the receptionists

  2. Review titled Why is it so hard to get an appointment at this surgery?

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’m increasingly worried that something is seriously wrong with my throat, I’m worried that it may be the start of throat cancer due the prolonged symptoms I’m experiencing, so obviously I rang the Doctors surgery. (on the 30th August 2022) By some miracle got through first time, after briefly giving my reason for calling, I was told that only nurses would be able to see me that day and they couldn’t refer me, so I was told to try again the next morning to make an appointment with GP. Although disappointed, I did as requested. This time however I was on the phone for 40 minutes listening to the automated call until I was zero in the queue. After getting through to the surgery the phone just rang……and rang……and rang. It was ringing for 15 to 20 minutes and I had to hang up as I was at work. Disgraceful! Is there no one manning reception or are they purposely ignoring the calls? You are always told check yourself for symptoms ie cancer, and if worried and there are abnormalities report it early, this could save your life; and yet I can’t get past the first hurdle of an appointment! I’m worried and bemused and looking at the reviews on here, I am not the only one. I’ll have to phone 111 in the morning, as clearly going through my GP isn't going to work.
