Review titled Special
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Elizabeth Cohan - Posted on 23 August 2024
It left me feeling re-assured, confident that I was special. I didn't feel so scared/worried, even though I still knew I wasn't well. This HCA was so caring, more so than family can be.

We have had to call out an ambulance for my grandmother a few times quite recently & the care we received was amazing, making sure she was well and treated her at home saving her a trip to hospital as per her wishes. My family and I would like to send a big thank you to all neas staff from call handlers to the paramedics, thank you for making my grandmas last days as comfortable as possible keep up the great work, thank you!!

Review titled Exceptional paramedic service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 February 2024
My husband was having chest discomfort and difficulty breathing on 16/2/24 so I called 999. The advisor was quite abrupt and didn’t relieve our fears by her manner, but despite this an ambulance was dispatched. An hour later when the paramedic crew arrived, they were professional and attentive, explaining what they were doing and why. We were transferred to Durham hospital, the crew stayed with us while we waited for several hours in the corridor. Again they were attentive and kind. My husband’s condition deteriorated significantly in A/E so we were transferred by blue lights by a second crew, to James Cook hospital. Again the paramedic crew were excellent, updating me constantly on the journey. Both crews had a student paramedic with them, and I can’t thank the crews for their kindness, care and compassion that day.

Review titled No confidence in them
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 March 2024
Don't have any confidence in them. They just don't stand up to the standard that they should. For the experience that was recently produced by one of them well what more does the service expect for a review. You don't really expect to be stared at by a employee when they are attending to you and told what to say by them. No complaint about the attending one was made because that is not worth it. You are made to feel worthless in the house you own by someone who stands and speaks to you like you are nothing other than worthless, to be left feeling that way by a person who goes to work is just not nice. You have no say in things that they want answers to. You can't get to explain anything to them because they do belittle you and you just want to curl up and hide away from them. What you can do is what they tell you to say and do even in your own home. They should have written a list of rule's when they arrived at the house and stuck it on the fridge it was that bad. They won't like this review because it's not 5 Star or praise for them, that's correct it's not especially when you are left more distressed by how they were and after the way they went on, answer me one of them said tell me what I want to hear they said I want to hear you say it they said, it was awful and like being bullied by someone at work. Maybe they were having a bad day at the office were they. Belittling a person in their own house. What next not allowing a person to even speak unless they tell you when you can. Intimidating hostile person who attended my home, learn some respect for others and also some manners along the way.

Review titled Superb caring service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Robert Murphy - Posted on 01 February 2024
Last night I suffered from high temperature following chemotherapy for my esophageal cancer. My emergency contact called an ambulance that arrived in minutes. The staff on the vehicle were exceptional. Caring and concerned. They carried out an assessment without delay quickly assessed and explained my condition. The result was a trip to accident and emergency at the QE in gateshead. I was treated with respect and protected from any further risk of infection in the hospital and quickly moved to an assessment room where it would be safest for me. The team ensured I took all the things I needed and ensured my health and condition was fully communicated to the waiting staff at accident and emergency. I can speak highly enough of my experience.

Review titled The care they gave was fantastic
by lloyd321 - Posted on 27 December 2023
At work got chestpains so called 999. The lads in the ambulance were brilliant, came out to the house fantastic even took the time to phone around for advice for which hospital to take me to. Got to a&e at Darlington memorial the people were very caring, very helpful at what they did. I got moved to ward 34 the staff on days and nights were fantastic for me bent over backwards to help even with the little things. I have food intolerances they bent over backwards to make sure I got food. It might not seem a lot to some people but the care they gave was fantastic. Then i got moved up to ward 44 and the care I recived was the same fantastic from the staff day and night even down to the food menu they even went back down to get my order of food becasuse of the intolerances I have. I hope the ladies and gents of these units I had been on the past few days working hard or getting the day off i hope they all get what they want for Xmas sorry i can't remember names it was all a blur but still thank you all for what you gave me in them days.

Dear Lloyd321, Thank you for your comments and I hope you are feeling better now? I'd love to pass on your appreciation to the ambulance crew involved. Please don't feel you have to get in touch, but if you can directly contact our patient experience team at patient.experience.team@neas.nhs.uk, they will look to forward on your appreciation, even if you can't recall their names. A few details of when and where the ambulance was called should suffice, but we would not ask you to share that in a public forum such as this. kind regards Mark

Review titled Not Impressed

I suffered a heart attack 28th June 2023, I needed angioplasty and a stent inserted into my left coronary artery. I had excellent at j cub Now for the bad news , neas , you need to address the very bad response time to a person having chest pain, and needing urgent help. We phoned but you stated a response time of 20 minutes, I really do feel let down by this, I have had time to think and reflect, and still it makes me annoyed , so I rate your service poor .

Review titled Ambulance service staff
by Skulls - Posted on 12 April 2023
People should be able to tell others about the experience of the ambulance service that isn't always a good experience. If they can't then how are things supposed to improve within the neas. A few weeks ago another service contacted the neas and for some unknown reason 3 of the staff attended. They really don't need to send 3 ambulance staff so I wish they would knock it back to 2, they stand there as though they are superior and they don't listen to you. You can not be made to speak with them or go to hospital, it's a person's human rights. They ask if you have phoned an ambulance when they would know that you haven't, they should communicate with the service that contacted them and cut out all the nonsense comments. Why is it if they want respect from others that they can't respect the person or people who they are attending. They need to improve the Neas asap

Review titled Friendly, helpful and professional

by Margaret Rushton - Posted on 14 February 2023
The team who came to me on the beach following an accident made a painful time less stressful. The response time was great and the care wonderful. Not only on the beach but the lady paramedic visited me when she returned to the hospital with another patient. We have a wonderful caring service to be proud of.
