Review titled Awful cannulation
Rated 3 stars out of 5

My mum went in for a CT angiogram, she had a cannula put in place which was stuck down with surgical tape, not an appropriate dressing

Attended today for a MRI and what a great team. The experience was seamless. The team explained everything clearly and put me at ease. A big thank you to the department for their work and the caring and professional way they carry it out.

Review titled Excellent care and expertise
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sarah - Posted on 04 April 2024
Following a breast cancer diagnosis, I cannot fault the outstanding and compassionate care I have received. The entire team has worked together to make my experience a positive one with my wellbeing at the core. Staff have gone above and beyond to be kind - from my initial screening, to surgery, wound care, and beyond. These highly skilled professionals never forget to put the person at the centre of all they do and I cannot thank them enough.

Review titled Terrible experience at Addenbrokes A&E
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2024
I went to the A&E with extreme ear pain, vertigo, dizziness and nausea after having already been seen by the gp during the day, who advised i go to the A&E should things get worse during the 'out of hours' period as my symptoms would warrant urgent attention. Upon arriving, the extremely rude triage nurse decided to tell us to go back and wait until morning to go see the gp, despite the gp themselves having advised me on the contrary and asked that i seek urgent care out of hours, which we explained to the nurse. After an 8-9 hour long wait (during which no blood was collected, no scans or investigation carried out, i wasn't seen by anyone other than the nurse who took my vitals) we are told that i need to go over to the urgent care clinic to see the gp. At this point it was already morning time and my usual gp practice was already open. So in essence, they had me wait at the A&E all night to then have us go see a gp in the morning despite the gp having advised me to go seek urgent care should I get worse during the evening time. We immediately refused and stated i'd already seen the gp (as explained earlier in the night) and it was their advice that I seek urgent care, they finally had a doctor see me (after a further wait of an hour!). The doctor then gave a vague diagnosis saying "it may be X but we can't be sure" and when I asked a couple of questions - just general concerns regarding the symptoms their response was "I don't know". I've never had a more shockingly terrible experience at a place that's supposed to provide urgent care during a medical urgency. The place is full of callous, uncaring and demotivated staff!

Review titled Lovely staff and excellent care in Ward D 2
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mel - Posted on 15 February 2024
My son recently had his appendix removed at Addenbrooks and I wanted to say thank you to the staff on Ward D 2 and the other doctors/surgeons who looked after him for the excellent care provided. It was quite scary for my son and they did everything they could to explain what was happening and to keep him calm and happy. Everyone was very caring and empathetic. The staff on Ward D 2 were amazing - they checked on my son to make sure he was comfortable all the time, every time we called for anything someone would come straight away and they always made time to have a quick chat with us. We didn't feel rushed to leave before we were happy that my son was fully recovered. There was a parent's room, and lots of entertainment such as playstations and movies for the children. Everything was spotless. I could not be more impressed with the care provided. Thank you to everyone involved.

Review titled Appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5
by John James Monaghan - Posted on 22 January 2024
I had a transplant at Addenbrooks in 2004. Since then, I have had no communication with the hospital whatsoever. My Consultant retired in August 2023 and I transferred to Queens Nottingham. However, I received a letter asking for a telephone appointment last in 2023, which has been cancelled and put back four times. What an incompetent and inefficient service this hospital offers. No wonder there are overspending and service delays. If this were in the private industry, they would be sacked. The incompetence and arrogance of doctors and their teams is astounding. I want nothing more to do with this hospital or its inefficient and uncaring systems. How can this hospital expect respect when they do not give the same? I am disillusioned.

Review titled A perfect experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by E Griffiths - Posted on 03 January 2024
I was referred to a consultant last Autumn for a problem with my right lower eyelid and within weeks (7th December) had an operation on the eyelid. The operation was just 25 minutes and I was on my way home in less than half an hour after it was finished. Everything went really smoothly with the surgeon explaining what was happening so I knew what they were doing at all points. At no time was there any pain or discomfort (apart from the stinging of the anaesthetic needle which I had been warned about). I have just attended (Jan 2024) the clinic for a review and to have the stitches removed which was quick and painless and I was discharged and on my way home in about 10 minutes. A perfect experience, thanks !

I was nervous attending an appointment for an ECG after suffering chest pains. The person that did my ECG completely put me at ease , he was reassuring and completely respectful of my dignity. He communicated with me throughout which really put me at ease. Thank you and doing a brilliant job in a stressful sector.

Review titled Fabulous service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sharon Saunders - Posted on 01 December 2023
I was referred on Monday by my GP to the hysteroscopy clinic . I was seen on Friday , just a few days later ! I attended my appointment and couldn't have asked for better care ! All the staff were welcoming and made me feel at ease . The nurse doing the procedure explained everything she was doing . Given the procedure I was having done , it was as comfortable as could possibly have been expected and I left with a full explanation of the findings , and what would happen next . The team should be very proud of the work they do !
