  2. Review titled Specialist Consultant .

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Let down by poor inconsistent nursing practice. Maybe, because I was there over a weekend and most of the staff seemed to be agency, but I felt unsafe and frankly could not wait to leave. On the day of my operation my husband was left waiting for news that I was out of surgery and OK, by the ward I was supposed to be going to. As it turned out I was taken to a different ward and my husband was not contacted to inform him of this. It caused some anxiety for him and my family. He was told that I would be staying on ward 28 until the following day as it was too late to move me by then.I was not aware of any of this until my husband finally found me and explained what had happened. The next morning I spent wondering when I was going to move to the other ward. Later that morning I asked the staff nurse when I was moving. He was extremely rude to me and asked me why I thought I was moving? I told him what had I been told. He responded very coldly, well you wiĺ not not be moving, you are in my charge and you are staying here." He was very hostile and implied I was demanding special treatment because I was from the Isle of Man, where we all had private planes, his words not mine. I was deeply shocked by his hostility. After that I felt very uncomfortable. Treatment I did not expect to receive following major surgery with a cancer diagnoses. From then on I counted the hours down to when I could leave and go home. An example of poor nursing was having to remind nursing staff not to put the thermometer in my operated ear every time. Having to beg to have my catheter removed so I could go and wash and change out of my operating gown, the same with having my canula removed as I no longer needed it. Normally after this operation I would have gone home the next day, but the consultant prefers patients who live some distance away to stay in longer in case of any complications. It was my preference to stay fairly active and not bed bound. My overall feeling was the ward was run for the benefit of the staff more than the patients.

  4. Review titled Weight Loss Team is Ironically Lazy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Paula - Posted on 29 April 2024

I received a letter to make an appointment with the team, upon calling I was asked to "call back in 15 minutes" as they were "inundated" with calls. I then called back 15 minutes later, only to be told I couldn't make an appointment as they'd all gone home; barely even 4pm. Surely having staff deal with phone calls would be more efficient than having them tell patients to call back in a few minutes, especially when they know full well they won't be there to answer.

  5. Review titled Great medical service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris mckeown - Posted on 15 April 2024

I attended a Saturday clinic on 13/4/2024 at ENT the service was fantastic until I went to get medication that had been prescribed to me. On arrival at the pharmacy to my surprise and many other people standing around who had also been prescribed medication from various clinics it was closed. I was informed but the reception on ENT that the pharmacy was open. If the nhs are going to put on extra clinics to get the back log down as my appointment was a referral made in 2022 but my GP please take into consideration that all the patients seen over the weekend if prescribed any medications now have to go back to the hospital again which is unnecessary and inconvenient both for patients and hospital staff.

  6. Review titled Not so great practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Christos - Posted on 10 March 2024

Attended because of my tinnitus. The doctor didn't even listen of what I had to say (symptoms) made an assumption that is from magnesium which I'm taking cause I lost my sleep, told me to leave it as it is and off he sent me. Never felt worst in a doctors office not helped at all and trying to be quick. Probably the whole consultation was 3 minutes. Don't recommend it

  7. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ray Ellison - Posted on 09 April 2024

My recent stay in The Sefton Suite was the best stay I’ve ever had in hospital and this was due to the hard working dedicated friendly and welcoming nurses domestics and catering staff Whilst it is difficult to single anyone out and you say you will not publish names there were a number of staff who deserve a special mention who were particularly outstanding

  10. Review titled Icu nurses excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2024

I stayed in Icu for 1 night following major head and neck surgery. The staff/ nurses here were excellent, friendly and caring. They took their time to regularly check on me and everything I needed to make me as comfortable as they possibly could. As soon as I was a little more alert the following day after my surgery I was given a white board and pen as I was unable to speak due to having a tracheostomy fitted. I was able to communicate with the nurses thanks to this to keep me as comfortable as they could if I was in any pain or feeling dehydrated. Everything I needed was quickly dealt with. The nurses took an interest in my work and again was able to communicate using the board as one of their partners worked for the same company at some point. After leaving Icu moving to a ward something of mine had been left behind and the nurse looking after me quickly realised and personally brought the item to the ward I was on. Once moved from Icu onto a standard ward I soon noticed how the level of care seemed to drop and it was more hit and miss if you had a nurse looking after you that seemed to care. Some nurses were great and others seem to avoid you as if you were a hindrance seeming unwilling to want to help you. So again I just wanted to share my thanks to the team and nurses that did look after me in Icu whilst I was there. You are a credit to the nhs. I did try to complete the survey they gave me while in hospital but the qr code could not be recognised. Thank you Once I was moved from Icu into a ward
