Visited ultrasound Xray department today which was my first ever visit to Alnwick hospital. A very friendly welcome from and within the department. Staff were very friendly and courteous and chatty whilst explaining what was going to happen. A great all round visit.

After three years, I’ve been pushed from pillar to post, the consultant and the whole department left no stone unturned. My usual appointments with last 10 minutes of being told I was in the wrong place, or there’s nothing they could do. Rheumatology took 2 1/2 hours to give me a thorough consultation, where at the end I was given a full diagnosis, a full explanation, the correct medication, ongoing care, and was treated with absolute respect and dignity throughout. I cannot thank this department for, without exaggeration, have changed my life. For the first time in three years I actually have hope.

I just wanted to share my thoughts around the Nursing Staff. They could not have been more accommodating on the day of my visit, frequently checking whether I needed anything and keeping me updated. A credit to their craft.

Had an accident walking down Simonside , badly twisted ankle . Minor injury dept dealt most expeditiously with inspection , xray , confirmation of minor bone damage and fitting with moon boot . All within 90 mins and all staff very kind. Cannot praise too highly

Couldn’t have been more impressed with the service I received at the Minor Injuries unit having got a small amount of wood stuck in my eye . The receptionist was lovely . Short wait to see an excellent advanced nurse practitioner whom quickly managed my eye problem and left with some eye ointment in less than 30mins of arrival. An absolute credit to the NHS !

I attended after being bitten by a dog - I was seen by one of the ANP's who was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Despite the unit being very busy, I was seen quickly and efficiently. In a rural area this first class service

A friend drove me to Alnwick Injuries unit tonight at 8 20 pm...we both asked. For help, my head was bleeding from a small wound, all a need was butterfly sitichs, I had slipped on a tiled floor and hit something...but we were refused help, it was nothing big, but I did need help, and the refused to help....quite honestly, the staff there are a law un to their self and wanted me to travel 34 mile to another hospital...what a waste a time they are , and this is a waste a tax payers money, it would of taken her 30 mins at most to see to me and I quite frankly felt abused from her and I say her, because she had her bag on shoulder and she was done. Hard shift drinking coffee and having chocolate biscuits,,,, what's the point of the unit

I attended the walkin clinic today and was greeted by a very cheerful and empathetic nurse, who put me at ease immediately. She listened carefully to my symptoms and gave me medication to help solve the problem l was suffering from. I have to say this has been one of the best visits l have experienced within the NHS.

I visited Alnwick hospital for a colonoscopy. Every single member of the team were fantastic. They explained everything in professional detail with care and consideration. I have never experienced care like this in the NHS in my lifetime. My husband, who was awaiting me had a similar experience with the porters and cleaning staff who assisted and reassured him as we were in the hospital at 8am, before reception was on duty. After all this, we visited the canteen where the exceptional care and support continued. We purchased meals and the quality of the food was second to none; 5*. To repeat, neither my husband nor I had ever received such good treatment, care and attention in the NHS (not to say anything negative about the NHS), it was just that the hospital was so outstanding. Thank you once again.

My visit to the minor injuries unit of the Infirmary is a pleasure to recount! I dropped in with a problem I was experiencing with my lower eyelid. The staff member at the reception desk was pleasant and very welcoming. My wait to be seen was just under one hour, which I found to be amazing in these days of a stretched health service. The nurse who attended to me was quite exceptional, from her caring, friendly manner, through to her examining of my eye and removal of an ingrowing eyelash, which was the cause of my eye irritation. She explained everything to me regarding the antibiotic cream I was prescribed, and also how to follow up if things didn’t improve inside of a few days. This is truly our wonderful NHS at its best, and I felt privileged today to be a part of their caring, efficient service. Thank you.
