  1. Review titled Resuscitation

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We were here today and sent straight to resus the new part within 10 mins due to my mum suffering a heart attack . They were absolutely lovely on there the staff explained everything to us in detail and made sure we were all ok . We can’t thank them enough for their fast help and super fast response when my mums blood pressure dropped extremely low and caused her to collapse. Thankyou for making an extremely hard day a lot easier

  2. Review titled A + E - long-term appalling. Unacceptable.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have lived in Birkenhead all my life and the A + E section of Arrowe Park has consistently tarnished the good work on the hospital wards. Took my wife up who was waiting for 8 hours in agony (she collapsed to the floor after 3 hours). It was like a third world environment with such a long weight, no co-ordination and unhealthy warm air flowing through a packed room with many patients on the floor. A complete disgrace. Birkenhead deserves much better. I and others are taking action to hold those in charge to account as the lack of appropriate care in A + E aggravates illness and suffering. We will be seeing a high level investigation and investigations. This has gone on for too long at such an abysmal level. It is being run by the wrong people who need replacing. The investigation will be front page and followed up by a TV documentary. Not even 1 star. 0/5 for Accident and Emergency.

I needed a colonoscopy. I was made to feel comfortable. They explained the procedure carefully, making sure that I knew what was happening. Always checking that I was ok. I cannot fault their concern and dedication. Very pleased.

  5. Review titled Wait times unacceptable.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 May 2024

I had a fall and damaged my wrist on Friday afternoon. Phoned NHS111, received a call back after 2 hours, and was advised to go to a&e. Presented myself about 7.30 pm. Was triaged and x-rayed within 15 minutes, but then had an 11 hour wait, all night, to be assigned a doctor and treated. The clinical care was excellent, and I am grateful for it, but I do feel the wait time is unacceptable. I appreciate the staff are hard working and doing their best, but a&e is clearly massively under-resourced. Furthermore, there were no facilities for food and drink bar vending machines, but I has been told by NHS not to anyway, in case I needed an operation. There was scant communication or support, save periodic proactive checks on my part with the receptionists. They were understanding and apologetic, but pretty much conceded this was the norm, despite NHS having 4 hour target. I was in a lot of pain, the seating are was excessively warm, and being a Friday, later on, several folk who had later come in were clearly under the influence of drink or drugs, and although not threatening, the atmosphere became somewhat unpleasant at times. I have o criticism of staff, and my clinical treatment was good, but the overall experience was quite poor and dehumanizing, and I felt my needs weren't well met.

  6. Review titled Professional friendly team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Albert Ellis - Posted on 04 June 2024

On May 24/2024 I was taken, by ambulance, to Arrowe Park Hospital and I was placed in the Cardiac Care Unit, where I was attended by the most friendly team of reassuring doctors and nurses whose dedication to my welfare was first class. The following day I met a Cardiology Consultant who decided I needed a Pacemaker. Within a matter of days I underwent an hour long procedure to fit me with a Pacemaker. During the procedure I was attended by the consultant and a team of friendly nurses and a technician who made the whole experience a very relaxed, but thoroughly professional event, which included a detailed commentary, given by the Consultant, upon what was happening. I was taken back to the CCU by a very jocular porter, where I continued to receive the very best of care and attention, from nurses whose interest and dedication to my welfare was a joy. Throughout my stay I found the quality of meals was very good and a hundred per cent better than my previous experiences as an inpatient. I was discharged with copious good wishes from nursing staff on May 29/2024. knowing that I had made many new friends. I will be forever grateful to everyone involved in looking after me. What a wonderful team you are. Godbless you all. Albert Ellis.

  8. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Katherine - Posted on 09 April 2024

My first visit to the department and every single staff member I came into contact with was brilliant. Everything was explained clearly, from what was going to happen, to who I would be seeing next and why. I was also given the opportunity to ask any queries I had and was really put at ease. Couldn't have asked for more!

  10. Review titled Great all round

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Liza - Posted on 26 March 2024

My husband got sent to AP after having chest pains. was seen by a dr who unfortunately confirmed a heart attack, within 2 hours he was sent to boardgreen. I honestly cant thank the staff in A and E, who dealt with him so quickly and got him moved. He is on track to make a full recovery. The staff in main switch board couldnt of been nicer when i turned up not knowing where hubby was and helped me no end. We are so grateful to you all
