I was recently admitted to basildon for parathyroid surgery and cannot praise enough, all the staff in the day care unit and general surgery, my surgeon was fantastic, and every member of staff were so professional and caring. Received 1st class treatment during my stay. Thank you all who looked after me during my stay.

I recently had experience to use the Resus Unit at Basildon Hospital followed by a short stay of 4 days in the Katherine Monk Ward. I would like to say how efficient the Resus Unit was The staff were very attentive and then once I got to the ward the staff were all exceptional, polite, helpul and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were all so friendly.

  4. Review titled Very Supportive Nurse

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Francis - Posted on 20 September 2024

I took my wife for her appointment at gynaecology department, Basildon hospital today and we had a very good experience at the hospital. The good experience started from the receptionist who checked us in. She was polite, welcoming and gave us clear instructions and directions about where to go and wait for the clinical team. All members of the clinical team that looked after my wife were polite and professional. One nurse stood out though. Nurse Caroline was extremely supportive, friendly, polite and very supportive. My wife felt unwell during the procedure. She felt weak, vomiting several times and had severe cramping lower abdominal pains. Nurse Caroline provided us with all the reassurance we needed and when it was time for us to go home, she walked and held my wife who was still in pain to my car. Thank you, Nurse Caroline.

  6. Review titled Unprofessional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lauren - Posted on 24 September 2024

Unprofessional and unorganised A&E department. My husband went in today for chest pains that would not go away, he had a blood test done and was called back in by the doctor/nurse who had lost his paperwork and had to ask him again what the problem was. He was then sent back into the waiting area and when called back into the doctor's room, told he had something wrong with his muscles and to  take paracetamol, and his words were 'case closed' and gave no other explanation. My husband then asked what it was exactly and how long it would last, and the doctors said he has told him everything he needed to know and to talk to his GP if he had any questions. Rude and unprofessional. I dont understand how people get these jobs when they have no care or compassion. They just want to get you out of their quick as they can.

  7. Review titled Clinical and Care Provision Exemplary: Cardiac Day Ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by STUART CLARKE - Posted on 13 September 2024

Everything from admission for an angiogram in the cardiac day ward to the care taken by nursing staff and the clinical procedure itself was first rate. Most impressive too the personal feedback from the consultant.

  8. Review titled Poor service!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Plamen Georgiev - Posted on 25 September 2024

Arrived with ambulance at 13:00 (great ambulance team - thank you). Waited in the ambulance for 3.5 hours .... got to a room at 17:30 .... seen by a nurse once for the next 4 hours. Its 22:00 now .... no one can give you an update on what the next steps are. .. everyone is waiting for some "medical team" to somehow attend the A&E ad the aforementioned "Medical Tram" is covering the whole hospital and is extremely busy ... (not sure why all wards have a single medical team to serve them) ..almost 4 hours in an ambulance then 7 hours in a room without any kind of attention or anyone checking on us (old lady with dehydration) - please avoid this hospital!

  9. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris Smith - Posted on 12 August 2024

I had to accompany my mum when she suffered a fall on Saturday. I would just like to thank all the staff that were involved in her care while she was there. She suffers from dementia so didn't always understand what they were asking her or what she needed to do. I would especially like to that the 2 ladies who took her x-rays as they were extremely careful when they had to move her and also very patient. Once all her tests were complete she got moved to the Clinic Decision Unit while she waited for the results and to see the doctor. The nurse in their was absolutely amazing! The dealt with my mum with dignity and care and also looked after and kept checking on me as we had to wait for transport to start the next morning to take her home. I can't remember any names of the staff but want to say a huge thank you if you were on shift on Saturday 10th August from 5pm to 7.30am

  10. Review titled Excellent, outstanding service.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Susan Barnfield - Posted on 30 July 2024

I went to Basildon Hospital a&e yesterday and received such outstanding treatment. They were inundated with patients but were all calm and professional. I was there for 6 hours but it was worth every minute for the results of their investigations. Everyone was incredibly efficient and helpful especial the doctor in charge of my case. I cannot thank you all enough, they got to the bottom of what’s been wrong with me and also referring me for further tests. So a huge thank you to everyone in Basildon a&e. Kind regards.
