  1. Review titled Wonderful care from a compassionate team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently visited the hospital for a magnetic resonance angiogram scan, and found every single person in the radiology/x-ray department to be helpful, professional, and genuinely caring. It made such a difference to the overall experience, and I'm so grateful to the team for all that they do, and how they do it. Thank you!

Went for my ct scan today on bowel. Staff are first class and put you to ease from the start. They are so friendly and inform you of everything throughout the procedure.

I visited today to see if I could get a x-ray after I had a fall the previous Friday. From reception to x-ray department to triage and nurse practitioner the service was excellent and I can’t praise them enough. NHS doesn’t always get good reviews so credit where credit due - thank you to all who dealt with me

I was required to have a Gastroscopy on Saturday 20/07/2024 it was actually the team from Durham who performed this as Durham dept closed for refurb, however All staff from admin/nursing assistants/nurses/doctor and surgeon were all very welcoming and reassuring during this procedure that I had without sedation and they made me feel relaxed and comfortable throughout. What a great team and service. Long may we have our NHS. I always find Bishop Auckland hospital to be very clean and organised and actually pop into the restaurant even when I’m not in for any appointments 😊Thankyou

  6. Review titled Excellent, courteous, friendly service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

On 27 June 2024 my husband attended the Radiology Department, MRI, which I was surprised to see was not listed on the initial list of departments. Upon arrival a member of staff came to speak with him. She sat down beside Ivor and proceeded to go through the process and to check his form was completed correctly. She was superb in her manner and her clarity of speech, as he did not wear his hearing aids, was first class. As she escorted him into the MRI area explaining issues relating to his walking stick she introduced him to the MRI operator. She emphasised the timing of the process and explained in detail all that would happen. It was apparent that he was very relaxed in her presence and after a total of 15 minutes we were leaving the department. Bishop Auckland hospital continues to be the star in the crown in County Durham and long may that continue.

Thank you ward 18 and to all concerned with my recent knee replacement. The care and attention I received was outstanding, from the cleaner to the consultant. The whole team are worth their weight in gold. Thank you again

I attended on 18th June 2024 via an appointment made via 111 service with suspected foot fracture. I was very impressed with the care I received from the practitioner and his lovely assistant nurse (who had a lovely "bedside manner"). He explained everything very thoroughly and I felt in very safe hands. Radiographer was also very pleasant and efficient. Receptionists very pleasant too. A big thank you to the team at the urgent care centre.

  10. Review titled Wonderful people

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went in Tuesday morning to have a total hip replacement (right). The plan was to use spinal anaesthetic. I am very frightened of needles anyway, and some years ago a friend in the Midlands suffered paralysis, and 2 years later death, arising from medical negligence (compensation payment made by NHS) with the same procedure. Not surprisingly I was absolutely terrified. The staff in Ward 18, the anaesthetists and surgical team, even the porters, were terrific, so caring and understanding of my apprehension and so reassuring. I cannot praise them highly enough. When the moment came and I was wheeled to the anaesthetic room my fear really kicked in. I was hoping to be sedated for the spinal but that wasn't so and immediately before that needle went in I was having a panic attack, pulse racing, gasping for breath and I was so lose to calling the whole thing off. However the level of reassurance I received, combined with the knowledge I could not continue my life in agony meant I put my trust in the team. I was sedated for the operation, the last thing I remembered was being taken next door to theatre and seeing doctors in "space suits". After that I must have fallen asleep as I have no recollection of the operation. I had a fairly painful first night with no sleep but regular pain relief and checks from the nursing team got me through. I was X-rayed the second day (Wednesday) and assessed by physio and released that evening aporoximately 30 hours after my operation. I am now home on my (slow) road to recovery but so thankful for how everyone involved has been. Well done to you all.
