Review titled Good Treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Robin Reid - Posted on 06 June 2024
Attended today for Implantable Loop Recorder. First class service right from the start 2 young apprentice nurses assigned to look after me through what turned out to be 2.5 hours that I was in the department. They had other patients to look after as well and as I preceded the system they were always there. Fitting the loop was also brilliant the nurse specialist who carried out the fitting and her technical assistance were brilliant no pain or discomfort felt in anyway. was with them for about 20 minutes total. Back to recovery ward for a cup of coffee and some toast 30 minutes wait for your designated carers to arrive then give you the all clear to go home. This department sends out a broad message of how it should be done then do it. Many thanks for what this department did today.

Review titled Great treatment poor canteen
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 June 2024
As a patient I’ve had great treatment at the hospital. The attitude of staff at the canteen to patients leaves much to be desired however. I experienced being unnecessarily moved from an area despite many hospital staff using it and was ignored at the payment desk after staff had been served. If patients are not welcome to use the canteen this should be made clear at the outset.

Review titled Excellent Service from start to finish
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Linda Clements - Posted on 14 June 2024
I required a surveillance colonoscopy an appointment was made and I was contacted by a support nurse to check my understanding of the procedure. I informed her that I was type 1 diabetic due to complications that diabetes causes when fasting I was made the earliest appointment on that day. I was contacted again to discuss what would happen the day before the procedure and my understanding was examined in a pleasant friendly manner. The moviprep medication was posted to with with full instructions including diabetes information. I was contacted again a couple of days before to confirm everything was fine. On the day of the appointment I arrived welcomed at reception, then introduced to a nurse who checked my blood pressure etcetera and talked me through the procedure checking my understanding without being condescending. In theatre I was made to feel at ease by two supportive nurses and the consultant. I have had several colonoscopies but never this thorough I watched on TV throughout the process everything was clearly explained I was in owe of the professional manner undertaken by all involved. Brilliant hospital be proud of what you do hold your head up high and Thank You ver much

I spent over 72 hours in the department in a consultation room having to wash in a disabled toilet. Also having my I.v pump taken off me midway through treatment even when I tried to tell the nurse I need it she told me "I am taking it anyway " All in all to many people not know what the others are doing quite scary

Review titled SDEC
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Ann Harrison - Posted on 07 May 2024
I was transferred to SDEC after being triaged at the Emergency minor injuries team. The on call ophthalmologist arrived within 10 minutes and she was extremely helpful and caring. She gave me some numbing drops to my eye before scanning it. She quickly arrived at her diagnosis and arranged a prescription to be collected at the pharmacy. Both me and my daughter were very impressed with her professionalism and caring manner

I would like to say thank you to the Audiologist who was excellent. I attended with my teenage daughter recently and I felt the Audiologist was most kind, caring, patient and excellent in explaining procedures. We were seen in a timely manner and felt dealt with efficiently and speedily. I would like to say a very special thank you to the Audiologist that spent time chatting with my daughter and me - she made a massive difference and thank you.

Review titled Wonderful care, compassion and kindness
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jane Eaves - Posted on 19 April 2024
My sister in law was recently admitted to Ward 3 and sadly required end of life care. The attention and nursing care she received together with the care, compassion and kindness our entire family received during her stay was second to none. Victoria Hospital seems to receive a great deal of negative press these days but in my opinion, what we experienced needs to be lauded and shouted from the rooftops! This is what good nursing care is all about as well as including the whole family. Thank you to everyone on Ward 3

Review titled Wonderful care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Angela Bridge - Posted on 26 April 2024
Fast treatment in A&E and great care whilst with them waiting for a bed. Thorough examination to determine cause of condition. Moved to Ward 5 for care. Again wonderful care from experienced, caring and pleasant nurses. Doctors were clear in their diagnosis and treatment. I felt important to them and that they had my well being both mentally and physically as a priority.
