Review titled Caring and professional team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kathleen Dawson - Posted on 27 November 2023
I had a hysteroscopy with biopsy and polyp removal at the Gynaecology Day Unit this afternoon. I was very nervous but the consultant and nurses were absolutely brilliant. They took the time to explain everything to me, told me exactly what was happening at all times, and made me feel completely at ease before, during and after the procedure. A huge thank you to you all.

Review titled As good an experience as I could have hoped for.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Andy Fox - Posted on 15 November 2023
I visited general surgery yesterday, as a day patient, for an op under general. From my arrival, I was dealt with promptly, on time throughout, and in a friendly and informative manner by every member of staff I came across. I was constantly kept updated on what was happening and treat with the utmost respect and dignity at all stages. I cannot thank enough each of the individuals who put me at ease throughout the day, and especially the surgeon, who was a pleasure to speak to, before and afterwards, and who (in my totally uneducated opinion) seems to have done a fabulous job.

Review titled First Class Attention
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Steven Pellatt - Posted on 30 November 2023
My wife has just completed several visits to the outpatients fracture clinic, following a broken wrist , which occurred in Corfu. The service and attention to detail was excellent throughout , through x ray, surgery, and final procedure to remove the metal work, the various teams have been polite , helpful , humorous when needed and generally took care of a patient , who isn't the best at this type of work. In this day and age, where people are quick to criticise , I can find no fault in any way, with the hospital.

Nurse replied go wait over there and doctor will come and see you had to carry my heavy bag with a prolapsed disc and when doctor came to give prescription I asked what now he just said will put referral to neurosurgeon and still no advice what to do in the meantime.

Review titled Wonderful Children’s ED
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Caroline - Posted on 06 November 2023
I took my daughter into the Children’s ED last night and I just wanted to say a big thank you to each and everyone of the ladies who spoke to her and helped her. She came in, in pain and nervous and as soon as she walked in you all put her at ease, explained any questions we had and made her laugh. She came away and said how lovely you all were, in between scoffing the chocolate advent calendar you so kindly gave her. thank you again

Review titled Really excellent hospital
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Paul Hughes-Stainsby - Posted on 04 October 2023
I was admitted to cardiac centre on 25/09/23 for heart bypass surgery. Obviously apprehensive but they put me completely at ease. Operation that afternoon. My surgery went well and was moved to ITU for 2 nights and moved to ward. The care I received was purely brilliant, and I can’t even think what could be improved at this. I was pencilled in for a weekend discharge. On the Friday, 29th, I became extremely ill,, and was moved to a room closer to the nurses station. The nursing staff and drs did everything they could to make me well again. 2 days of illness was treated brilliantly, I wish to Thank each and every member of the cardiac team from start to finish that helped me to recover. I was discharged on Tuesday 3 October. Currently resting at home. The worst part about the procedure is waiting for medications in the discharge lounge. Estimated 5 hours wait!!!. When you have such major surgery you’re not permitted to drive for 6-8 weeks so I arranged for my son to pick me up. Who was due into work that night. It’d be better if the ward provided three days worth of medication to get home and electronically send prescriptions to your chosen chemist and be discharged straight from the ward. The girls in the lounge are obviously overworked with the overwhelming amount of medication to sort. This problem lies with the powers that be, and the blame is laid squarely at their door for using such an archaic service. Seeing people that poorly and elderly, laid in reclining chairs asleep waiting for medication. To the girls in the discharge lounge, my heart goes out to you all. The stress you’re all under is plain to see. Come on people , get with the 21st century. Ironically, I’m in my mid 50s and never thought I’d say that.

Review titled 5* experience overall
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 September 2023
Went in for lithotripsy (kidney stone blasting) Very chirpy/smiley admissions clerk at 7am. Lovely lady. Was processed very efficiently and procedure went smoothly. Kept in overnight as arranged as had general anaesthetic and no-one at home to keep an eye on me. Ready to go home the following morning but kept in for an extra day due to concern with blood test. Discharged following morning but not allowed to leave until paperwork completed and take-home medication received. This took ages - 5 or 6 hours !! Took the shine off an otherwise very decent experience. Staff were lovely overall but seemed to forget about, or ignore some of the requests I made. So I had to ask. Again and again. But generally, a very good experience thanks to very hard working and commendably good natured nursing staff and, of course, good surgeons.
