I attended the minor injuries department this morning. The service I received, including the treatment, was outstanding. Moreover, the hospital is incredibly clean and tidy. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you for your excellence and professionalism.

Review titled Physiotherapy
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 June 2023
I have had physiotherapy appointments for my back and knees. To be asked "what do you want or expect from this consultation". Hang on a minute you are the one with the expertise tell me what you can do to help me!! I got told that I needed to buy into the treatment - what does that mean exactly. My mobility is very poor. I had bariatric surgery and it failed. Quote when you feel able to exercise make an appointment within three months. Such a total waste of every ones time.

Review titled Patronising terms of endearment but the care was good. ...
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a very good experience at a lung clinic recently, bar one thing. An HCA who was unknown to me decided she would call me 'love'. This can be seen as patronising and condescending. To me, I just find it over familiar and inappropriate in that environment.

Thank you for your feedback, I am very glad that overall your experience was good and I am sorry that the HCA who cared for you did not correctly address you as you would wish. I will share your feedback with the clinical teams as it is a good reminder that we should always introduce ourselves and ask people what they would like to be called.

Review titled really need and proper a&e in Bridgwater
Rated 1 star out of 5

Wanted emergency pain relief for sciatica. Just until after the bank holiday when I could contact my GP again. Already on meds, pain increasing to escruciating debiltitating pain. Needed help to get up and general care at this stage, I was at the point I was screaming out in pain in the night, couldnt even get to the toilet I couldn't cope over bank holiday weekend to wait another two nights until GP opened. I explained I was taking all manor of meds that I knew I shouldn't on top of prescribed meds as when in that pain you just grab anything to try to ease it. I had my box of meds beside my pillow. I was confused that staff did not want to be told doses of medication I was on. I was told it was because they are only nurses, not doctors which I did not realise.I then waited to be seen to be told they cannot precribe any thing stronger than I am on. Although the nurses were lovely there is no help they can offer other than wait until Tuesday to arrange physio to see if I could get this quicker than the appointment I already had. I thought we were encouraged to use a minor injuries unit and only use A & E in life threatening instances. Really confused and frustrated that this hospital does not offer more.

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry that you were not able to be helped in Bridgwater Minor Injury Unit. In the Minor Injury Unit we have Emergency Practitioners and they assess, diagnose and treat patients. They are able to treat many conditions and give pain relief. I am sorry that they were unable to give you any medication that was stronger than your current prescription however you could have contacted the 111 service who may have been able to help you. I do hope your back is feeling better Kind Regards Hannah

Review titled Amazing staff in Endoscopy department
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 April 2023
I attended for an endoscopy appointment at the hospital. I was very nervous but the staff made me feel at ease. The staff were incredibly kind and caring with me when I couldn’t have one procedure done so they offered me a different one. The doctor and 2 nurses in the procedure were so helpful and supportive throughout and made me feel at ease even though I was a mess! They are an absolute asset to the NHS!

Review titled I just wanted to say how impressed I am
by Carol8763b! - Posted on 17 January 2023
I just wanted to say how impressed I am with the NHS. Having paid for private Physio I got to the stage where I knew more in depth treatment was needed so went to my GP. Who sent me for X-ray - following X-ray I was sent to the Oasis center at Bridgwater hospital- following this I was sent to Cotford st Luke for a steroid injection. The whole process was flawless - the service and team were great . Follow up appointments are in place already . Everyone moans about the nhs but I only have had positive experiences

Review titled Not the best experience today
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 December 2022
I came to the Obstetrics Clinic today. I ended up waiting 1 hour 45 mins exactly for my appointment. I’m a very understanding person as I also work in a hospital however, there was no communication as to why I was left waiting that long. Every woman who arrived after me was seen before me. I went to ask at the reception desk if I was checked in correctly & was told “I don’t know I don’t have that clinic list”. As a patient it would have been better if you could have gone to find out for me, explained why I was waiting so long & reassured me. After all that when I eventually saw the consultant she was lovely & very informative about my own personal medical situation.

Review titled Knee and Leg pain finally diagnosed
by rhinopk93 - Posted on 09 November 2022
I got x-rays on my right knee in December 2021 which did not show anything which would cause so much pain. My GP then referred me for physiotherapy which made the knee pain worse, I ended up on crutches and painkillers. I then paid for my own MRI Scan and Physiotherapist to find out what was wrong and again no real clues to what the issue was. In desperation for help I walked into Bridgwater Community Hospital Bower lane and in just 2 visits they have identified that my right hip is very bad and causing all the issues. I wish I had walked into Bridgwater Hospital much earlier in the year, I have now lost my job because of this issue and have had mental health issues worrying about the situation. I cannot thank Bridgwater Hospital enough for their care and treatment. [Very happy with 'Treatment']
