I'm 2 months post orbital decompression surgery even though I'm on a long road to recovery,I can't thank the staff enough, from consultants to nurses, they all took great care and made me feel at ease as I was quite anxious before surgery,so to all staff on Gloucester ward level 3,a very big thank you, from the bottom of my heart, you all do a great service and are a credit to the NHS,many thanks.

  3. Review titled Rude

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I called the Hospital today regarding a possible appointment. I was just trying to establish whether I actually needed this appointment or not. The receptionist was rather officious and her manner was quite rude. Having said that I am sure the Hospital itself is great.

I would thoroughly recommend the beh..very professional staff. I was struggling to be seen by another hospital after my cataract op didn’t go according to plan . .not the fault of my surgeon…I went to the walk in clinic in June....I was seen by a dr within 10 mins and an op within the hour..fragment lens were removed. I was given the choice to stay with the hospital or return to my original hospital..I’m so glad I stayed. I had to wait three months for the eye to heal and then the consultant squeezed me into his busy schedule..he said I’d waited long enough (jan first cataract op) A lens was put in my eye last week..the following morning my consultant gave me a call to make sure I was ok and also I had a checkup with him. I’m in awe of him and the rest of his staff..what fantastic work they do..thank you doesn’t seem enough! It’s not all about the work they do, ops etc it’s their kind caring attitude..I felt so safe in their hands..nothing was too much trouble. Very grateful to you all and very much appreciated. One of the very best hospitals in the country.

  6. Review titled Poor treatment of patients

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I went to the Eye Hospital to take my wife, who had a hip replacement a week earlier. We arrived at 11:15 and left about 4pm. The disappointment started immediately. The A&E receptionist was impatient twice with my wife, despite the fact she was obviously on crutches and in pain (I was parking the car; she was visibly upset when I returned). Next, despite her GP's advice to get to the Eye Hospital immediately (and her optician's previous advice to treat this condition as an emergency), she was not triaged; no-one asked what was wrong until she saw a doctor, around 4 hours after arriving. I would have thought that a person on crutches (though we used a wheelchair there), wearing surgical compression stockings and clearly following her consultant's instructions to keep mobile might have merited some consideration. There were plenty of other things wrong: the nurse in charge was irritable and unhelpful, most staff were at pains to avoid meeting our eyes and generally refused to tell us anything about waiting times or queues. More generally, the standard of care was poor, the standard of management worse and the communication abysmal. I am usually a great supporter of the NHS, but Bristol Eye Hospital A&E offers the sort of experience that makes me wonder why.

Such a warming welcome, the staff and doctors were brilliant, felt so relaxed with no worries, absolutely brilliant. Will recommend spamedica. To any one. Thank you so much for letting me see again. Mr David Miller.
