  2. Review titled If only someone would have looked at my results

    by Johny373 - Posted on 20 June 2023

Was referred to C22 ward for CDT (catheter directed thrombolysis) after being diagnosed with a blood clot from Burnley General Hospital. Arrived at Royal Blackburn and was given a bed, not long after was told my procedure was cancelled due to there being an emergency, which I understand, these things happen. I was told that I'd be having a CT scan the next morning. Had CT scan next day and was discharged, assuming there was no risk and I'd have the procedure done at a later date. Within an hour of being at home my leg went purple, nearly passed out and was sweating profusely. Was rushed to hospital and ferried straight through A&E and underwent emergency surgery to save my leg. Luckily, the surgeons saved my leg, nearly bled out on operating table, spent 6 days on ICU, where I nearly bled out again, spent 7 weeks on vascular ward (C18B), nurses were phenomenal on there, everything was top notch apart from fact that I was discharged from C22 ward. If only someone would have looked at my CT results I would have never been discharged. I hold whoever signed my discharge and didn't look at CT results responsible for this. I nearly lost my leg and my life. I cannot believe I was discharged in such a serious situation, absolutely shocking!

Nothing but praise for the staff at the eye department at Burnley. The service has been amazing and very proactive throughout. Not sure how they cope with the volume of patients coming through each day. A few more visits needed but thanks so far.

  6. Review titled Parking is a nightmare

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 December 2022

Attending appointments with my daughter become frustrating . All the staff are amazing but the parking arrangements and lack of parking is a nightmare. Too many cars all trying to cram onto sight, this is an accident waiting to happen for staff and service users.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your daughter's appointments at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and thank-you for taking the time to provide this. It is lovely to hear that you found the staff to be amazing. However, I am sorry that you find the car parking arrangements lacking. The car park is managed by a third party and your feedback has been sent to them alongside the Head of Estates. Currently, due to construction work at the Calico site, 40 spaces are currently no longer accessible at this time. Once again I am sorry for the difficulties you have experienced. Should you need any further assistance then you can contact our Customer Relations Team – complaints@elht.nhs.uk or Patient Experience Team – PatientExperience@elht.nhs.uk Kind regards Sarah Ridehalgh Patient Experience Facilitator
