Review titled 3 hour wait
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 October 2024
Waited 3 hours for a dressing which came off an hour later. Told I had localised infection but nothing done when I saw my gp 3 days later it was worse and needed antibiotics. Staff are rarely empathetic towards me here which I suspect is due to how my injury occurred

Review titled Simply Excellent
Rated 5 stars out of 5

After a fall I had extensive swelling on my hand and knew I needed medical assistance. I was absolutely dreading the thought of the long wait and unhelpful staff that you constantly hear about in the press. Caterham Dene hospital couldn't have been further from that stereotype. The reception staff were welcoming and immediately reassuring. Whilst triage and the whole medical team were highly professional whilst caring and understanding throughout. I cannot recommend the whole care provision highly enough. Thank you.

Review titled Unempathetic reception
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 February 2024
I’d previously visited Caterham Dene for a minor injury and found everyone there really polite and helpful, however on this visit the receptionist was quite rude and unhelpful telling me there were no Doctors in on a Sunday. After an awkward exchange I walked out and just wanted to go home but my husband decided to go back in to ask questions on my behalf. The Receptionist then directed us to Crawley Urgent Care. We drove there and although we had to wait 4 hours I can not fault the care and empathy I received.

Review titled An essential service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Irene Keefe - Posted on 02 January 2024
On New Years Eve night I developed an urinary tract infection and was in great pain and discomfort. I live in Caterham on the Hill and was so glad that the Dene minor injuries unit opened at 8 am on New Years Day. When I arrived there were already some people there but I didn't have to wait too long to be seen and given an antibiotic for my condition which cleared it up very quickly. Please pass on my thanks to all the staff there and I am so very grateful that we have this facility so near us in Caterham. I am going to make a donation to the Friends of the Dene Hospital.

I had the need to visit the urgent day care center on New Years day. This was my third visit in the 30 months l have lived in the area. Not only is parking easy but also free ! The reception staff are polite and efficient and l have never waited longer than 20 minutes to be seen. I felt truly cared for - a very well run courteous and efficient department - we done to all who are part of it !

Review titled It was a bit strange
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 September 2023
I had a long wait to see a Nurse which was fine. When I did, the Nurse was not at all friendly and did not introduce themselves. They cross questioned me about my injury which was perfectly obviously an accident and they did not accept my answers and asked me all over again. I'm on a medication that is sometimes used for depression but in my case is for a neurological issue . I explained this . I'm disabled. I felt vulnerable at this point. I was barked at not to touch the injury and the Nurse left the room for over ten minutes and I did not know where they had gone. I was very uncomfortable for various reasons. I nearly left the room as I thought was forgotten. I could hear the Nurse laughing and joking elsewhere . When they came back they were in a better mood but started asking me personal questions about my historical ethnicity and where I used to live (?) before I lived in Caterham. I felt very disinclined to answer but was worried about my treatment and the mood of the Nurse. The care I received was minimal but ok. I'm grateful for this service but please be more professional. I was upset enough by the injury and the waiting.

I visited the MIU to have stitches removed following an operation two weeks previous at a hospital in Southampton. The staff were very friendly and showed a caring attitude. I was expecting a long wait but no queue, about half an hour from arrival to leaving.
