  1. Review titled The best nurse ever!!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 September 2024

I went to get my monthly blood test and was not really feeling it. However, the nurse was such a character and his outgoing personality really made my day. I’m not sure what his name was but he we talked about me wanting to be an actor and he told me that a famous actor was a family friend of his from Ghana!!! It was really interesting and at the end he told me I was so brave I would be a great actor which really made my day !! He was so great and the blood test was flawless and practically painless . I give him a 10/10!!!! I hope all kindness he showed me comes back to him x1000 - thanks !!

I had an investigation this morning. I cannot praise all the staff highly enough. They were kind, understanding and professional. They made what was a worrying and uncomfortable procedure a reassuring process. Thank you.

  3. Review titled Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 June 2024

Staff we're very pleasant and cheerful but didn't quite know what was going on very disorganized. I was told to go and that everything was okay only to be bought back again on another date because they should have done something else while I was there. The service when it was at Barnet was always busy but well organised.

  5. Review titled Magnificent experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rhian Morgan - Posted on 08 May 2024

I've had an atrocious time with shoulder problems for the past 17 months so it was about time something good happened to me. My treatment this month, for arthroscopic subacromial decompression, rotator cuff tear debridement, biceps tenotomy and joint debridement was faultless. I was back home, pretty pain free within hours, all the staff were kind and efficient, the building was clean and well kept, there were plenty of cups of tea and I cannot recommend this day unit enough. I'd been on the brink of paying for this operation and I'm so glad I didn't.

  6. Review titled Hugely Disappointed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 August 2024

I am very unhappy with the dr that I saw at chase farm rheumatology dept. on 09/04/24 at 09:45. Despite waiting a year for the appointment, he did not take any thorough history. And I was in and out rapidly. The dr appeared to have already decided on a diagnosis before I had even walked through the door! He stated nothing could be done and there was no treatment available! See you in a year. The subsequent diagnostic letter I received, is not factually correct either. I have severe pain and swelling in my fingers on both hands. Painful wrists and elbows, and lumps on my toes. This flares up, then recedes, then flares up again. Each time the joints become more damaged and my range of movement and strength is reduced. The joints develop hot, red, swollen lumps, and can occur from one day to the next. The pain is worse in the morning, so bad, that I dread waking up. I have other long term autoimmune conditions including Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, dry eyes, dry scalp, ridges on my finger and toenails. However, when I queried if this arthritis could be connected to my autoimmune conditions, he insisted it could not. Belittling my query, he said just because I have other autoimmune conditions doesn’t make it likely the red swelling, heated joints and pain in my fingers etc is connected. Even though the rheumatologist at Harlow, did think It was connected, diagnosed it as inflammatory arthritis and prescribed Hydroxychloroquine. I called Versus Arthritis, and they were surprised I had not been investigated for other conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. Your dr also noted I am suffering from flexor tenosynovitis. This condition is known to be more commonly associated with RA or Psoriatic arthritis, however, your dr told me I have osteoarthritis. He said that means there is no treatment, and I don't need another appointment until a years time. Meanwhile my joints are continuing to become more excruciatingly painful and more deformed. The swollen finger joints are very tender and the very distinctive burning pain extends to the finger tip. Also, my fingers are numb! I expected Royal Free / Chase Farm Rheumatology to be a centre of excellence. It was not. The 2nd opinion I received from your dr was less informed than the one from rheumalogy at Princess Alexandra’s in Harlow, and they've been in special measures!

  7. Review titled Left without having treatment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 May 2024

I went to UTC to see the doctor for my child. I also had my little one with me as I have nowhere else to leave her. The two year old ran in the corridor and one of the receptionist told me that she’s not allowed, it’s dangerous, she could spread the disease. She wasn’t the sick one and she wasn’t running the whole time. Unfortunately the waiting area was so small and there was literally no space left for us to wait. No toys or anything was on display either in the children’s area. I had snacks and other stuff but she just wanted to explore this new area and I couldn’t stop her even though I tried. I wanted to say to the receptionist try saying this to a two year old and see if she understands. I’m normally a strong person but having a sick child with no sleep and a baby who’s tired and bored of waiting I felt terrible for being told off. So we left without seeing the doctor as I didn’t want to confront the receptionist again.

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your experience with us regarding your recent visit to UTC. We sincerely apologise for the difficulties you faced during your appointment. We understand how challenging it can be to manage a young child in a small waiting area, especially when they are restless. It’s unfortunate that there were no toys or activities available to help keep your little one engaged. Your feedback about the lack of space and resources in our children’s area is invaluable, and we will take it into consideration as we work to improve our facilities. We also regret that our receptionist's communication did not take your situation into account. We truly appreciate your patience in a stressful time, and it’s concerning to hear that you felt uncomfortable during your visit. Our goal is to provide a supportive and understanding environment for all our patients and their families. We hope you will consider giving us another chance to provide the care you need. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss this further or if there’s anything we can do to assist you. Thank you again for your feedback. Best Regards Patient Experience Team

  8. Review titled Great doctor

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 25 June 2024

I visited here with my 81yr old mother who had a fall and pain in her leg. Initially the nurse directed us to Barnet hospital in case of a hip fracture but my mum already has had this so we pressed for an x ray to confirm the leg wasn't broken etc and didn't fancy a 12hr wait in Barnet a+e. The doctor assigned to us was the nicest, friendliest and caring man I have met at the hospitals over the years. He joked with my mum to put her at ease and went into the xray with her and helped the xray man position the leg for the pictures. Mums leg was just bruised thankfully but this Doctor was just the best. This review site does not let me leave a name but his first name is the same as that from the Flintstones the cartoon and he deserves praise as he is a great Doctor.
