Review titled Our NHS staff never cease to amaze me
by casingth56 - Posted on 24 February 2023
I was nervous, having never had such a procedure, and was not relishing the thought of having a camera shoved down my throat. However I didn’t want the extra trauma of being anaesthetised, so chose the throat numbing spray. The procedure was very unpleasant, but I have to say the nurses and consultants were amazing. So professional but at the same time reassuring and helping me through it. Our NHS staff never cease to amaze me.

Review titled I would give all the staff I met today five *****
by MegOfLochaline - Posted on 16 February 2023
It was found after having a bowel screening test that I had blood in my faeces so I had to go to the MacMillan Centre at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. As you can imagine this was a very worrying time, my appointment for a colonoscopy was for the next week so not long to wait. I went for my colonoscopy today and right from walking in to the department the staff made you feel relaxed and were so friendly and this continued right through the procedure to the cup of coffee and biscuit before leaving. Everything was explained so there was no worrying about what was happening to you. I think in a situation where you are worried about what will happen and the possible outcome of these tests, it is important to have a friendly face to help relax you. I would give all the staff I met today in this department five *****, and a big thank you. Keep up the good work.

Review titled Good leadership and teamwork
by wurse23 - Posted on 24 February 2023
I attended the Endoscopy Unit at Chesterfield Royal Hospital on 22 February 2023 for an outpatient procedure. The service was welcoming, very efficient, caring, and informative. At a time when the NHS is experiencing severe pressures, this department is an exemplar of what can be achieved with good leadership, teamwork, and high staff morale.

Review titled Amazing Nightingale Ward
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 February 2023
My son was admitted this week to Nightingale ward. I cannot thank or commend the staff enough for their help. The volunteers. Play staff. Cleaners. Health care assistants. Nurses. Doctors and consultants. Every single person gave my son their 100% attention, care and compassion. Cleaners stopped in the corridor to play with him. Volunteers stopped to try and make him laugh. Consultants made examinations fun and light hearted. Even the worst procedures were done with such care and attempts to make them not scary. The play assistants regularly checked to see if he wanted toys swapping to keep him occupied and they have a wonderful selection. So much so he didn't want to leave! One of the play assistants showed him her beautiful disney paintings in the conservatory. The Consultants are knowledgeable, informative and very thorough. We saylw many different people and I cannot fault any of them. The nurses and health care assistants give you all of their time. Constantly checking if my son needed anything. You can see how busy they are but that never comes across and we had such good care. Thank you all to the amazing team on Nightingale ward. I would also like to shout out to the imaging department for making an xray exciting for my son and not scary. Thank you so much.
