Review titled Very poor attitude
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 May 2024
Just visited minor injuries unit, whole place deserted, couldn’t find anyone. Finally bumped into a nurse after wandering corridors, who was visibly frustrated to see me. After loudly exhaling, she agreed my daughter could be seen ‘but then that’s it, I’m done’ (6pm, closes at 7:30). Took me to book in, another standoffish conversation. A few minutes later, daughter seen by triage nurse whose attitude was the most uncaring I’ve experienced in a medical setting. Barely looked at us, just wanted to fill the form in. Told me my daughter might need an x-ray (what I wanted was advice on whether that was necessary or not) but it will be a long wait so up to me, otherwise go home and phone up for an appointment. The place was completely empty. Having a patient turn up appeared to be a major inconvenience for the staff. Disgraceful attitude shown towards my 10 year old daughter and me. I’ve always been sympathetic to nurses but not any more! If I behaved like that at work I’d be sacked.

Review titled Mixed experience

I recently attended the Endoscopy Unit for a Gastroscopy. I cannot fault the care received during my appointment, the staff were terrific and my overall experience whilst at the hospital was excellent throughout. Unfortunately the post-care was extremely lacking. The discharge leaflet advised to contact the Unit with any concerns. I had cause to call them less than 24hrs post procedure as l was having unpleasant symptoms not listed as a side effect in the leaflet, leaving me unable to eat or sleep. Without even being given the opportunity to fully explain, l was curtly told to speak to my GP and offered no further assistance. Of course, my GP was no help either, since Endoscopy is not his speciality. I have been left with no reassurance that what l am experiencing is "normal" or any idea how long l should expect these post-procedure symptoms to last. Hopefully things will improve soon but currently l feel dreadful and regret having had the scope done. Why ask patients to contact the Unit with concerns if, less than 24hrs post-procedure, the Unit apparently bears no responsibility for advising the patient further?

Review titled Dissapointing Triage Service
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Stephen - Posted on 02 April 2024
1/3/24 I attended Cirencester Hospital with my daughter who was suffering from ear infection/virus, her ear was oozing ear wax and she was in a lot of pain. She was seen by an emergency nurse who was polite and helpful, she explained they don't give antibiotics till after 3 days. I was advised if my daughters symptoms continued after 3 days, I was to return to the hospital for the antibiotics. I did return to the hospital on 20/3/24and my experience seeing the male Triage nurse was awful, he was rude, arrogant, patronising and was clearly not interested in my 4 year olds symptom's. He didn't look at her still oozing ear nor did he carry out any medical checks of her ear. I was told I would have to wait to be seen by a Doctor and return to the waiting room, I calmly asked how long did he think I would have to wait, as I had a funeral to attend in a couple of hours, his reply was "its minor injuries dept so it takes as long as it takes, if you have to go to your funeral, you'll have to go. In my opinion is body language and is manners, or lack of them showed me it was to much of an hassle for him to do anything at 08:30 in the morning. I rang my GP who gave me an appointment immediately and prescribed the antibiotics. I hope I or my daughter never have to be seen by this nurse again.

Visited urgent care due to my daughter becoming unwell whilst on holiday in the Cotswolds. Staff were incredible- kind, knowledgeable and friendly. I honestly can’t thank the wonderful nurses and the lovely paramedic on duty enough. We were prescribed medications and also provided with hospital information in the event my daughter deteriorated. An excellent experience overall- thank you to every member of the urgent care team that helped us today. We are forever grateful.

The team at Cirencester made my short visit for a colonoscopy stress free. I could not have hoped for better care from pre-screening to recovery. The procedure was carried out with professionalism and care. Thanks to all involved.

Review titled The best hospital ever
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Ellie Griffin - Posted on 27 September 2023
I went for a colonoscopy yesterday and my anxiety was awful and I couldn’t stop crying and I didn’t think I was gonna go through with it at all but the lovely doctor that did the colonoscopy talked me through it and even showed me the equipment before hand to settle my nerves. The nurses were the most kind, most caring and just overall the best nurses I have ever met. They were so patient with me and held my hand and did everything slowly and talked me through everything they did. They were so funny and caring and praised me so much after for doing it. They were amazing with my anxiety and I walked away saying if I ever need to go back to hospital I want to go there purely just to see them again and I don’t care about driving 30 mins from Cheltenham they were amazing!! Best hospital for anyone that suffers with anxiety !!! :)

I had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome and the care on the day of the procedure was first class. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff treated me with friendliness and respect.

I attended for an Endoscopy this morning with trepidation. However, upon arrival I was immediately put at ease by the staff who were all very polite, professional and caring. I can't remember their names but would like to like to thank them all for helping me through a "not so bad as I expected " procedure. Thank you !

On Friday I attended Cirencester hospital to have three wisdom teeth removed. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which really helped to make me feel at ease. I had some lovely conversations with one of the nurses. Both the registra and the consultant surgeon were very informative, professional and kind. A credit to the NHS and clearly very talented doctors. Thank you to all. Lawrence Austin
