  1. Review titled Unable to contact A&E re: very elderly relative

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 December 2024

The automatic call handling system for the hospital is useless and it took about 6 attempts for it to act get all the way through the announcement and allow me to speak to a receptionist. The receptionist was very helpful and put me through to A&E. A&E phone rang and rang until an announcement informed me there was nobody to answer call and to call back later. I was trying to get an update on a very elderly relative who had been in A&E all night. I had no information as to their condition or even if they have had something to eat or drink in the last 15 hours. Dreadful service!

  3. Review titled Lovely professional staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My father was admitted via blue light ambulance. We were very frightened & he was extremely worried. The staff, without exception, were kind, compassionate & professional. The unit was so busy. He was seen in rat, Majors & amsdec. The staff were always polite, friendly & explained everything very clearly despite the pressure they were clearly under. My father was safe. My only criticism is that he could have been reviewed & discharged earlier.

  4. Review titled Urgent Treatment Centre - amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lottie - Posted on 12 November 2024

Went in with a problem with my ear - was triaged quickly, and waited 3 hours, which was incredible as my issue wasn’t extremely urgent. The care delivered by all was outstanding, the premises were clean, and the care plan made was effective. I was referred to ENT quickly and now have an appointment with them. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work, it is appreciated. The only problem I can think of is to be wary of the portable charging system - we were charged the £30 for not returning the portable charger - when we did - we must have not put it back in the machine correctly.

  5. Review titled Ambulance crew were amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Northcott - Posted on 09 November 2024

I had to call for an ambulance for my wife who had severe tummy pains and sickness. They arrived within 20 minutes of my call and were so kind and caring. They were very professional. Once at the hospital they remained with her until she admitted for tests etc. They made sure i was looked after as well. My wife has since undergone major surgery which has saved her life. We are so grateful for the wonderful people who work for the NHS and all they do for people in need. David

  6. Review titled Thank you for all the specialist help and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Robert Usher - Posted on 23 November 2024

My father arrived in A& E after a collapse at home. He spent two nights in the hospital during which he was supported by the emergency, acute care, oncology and radiotherapy departments. We are truly grateful for all the specialist care received throughout and despite many moments of great pressure and activity across all those departments. We are blessed to have such a good local hospital of which every member of staff we encountered was exemplary, kind, caring and patient. Thank you everyone. Keep up the fantastic work.

  7. Review titled Brilliant.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I needed gynae clinic care on the 2ww route. It was very quick to get appointments. Staff were very kind, empathic and respectful. They communicated excellently. The care was very good, especially as they could do tests in the clinic rather than needing an anaesthetic and admission. In the recent past we needed casualty and oncology care, which was generally good but had quite a few difficult aspects. But I thought the gynae care was brilliant.

  8. Review titled Unbelievably slow

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I write this still sat in the hospital, 10hrs after arriving at A&E following a GP appointment at the attached surgery. All I've had is a blood test by a healthcare assistant and a CT Scan. After waiting in A&E for 1hr, I was told to go surgical assessment unit without even being seen. When I arrived a basic assessment wasnt conducted by a doctor for 6hrs. This then only lasted 2minutes, before being told to go for a CT scan which i waited another hour for and was completely empty when i arrived. Furthermore, I'm still sat here waiting for the results to be sent over (apparently) over 2hrs afterwards. No pain relief offered, no updates just staff deliberately avoiding eye contact and blaming other departments for delays. Genuinely appalled
